Name: Xander Knight
Gender: Male
Age: 18

Element: Ice
You see, Xander's element affects him very heavily physically. His outer temperature is always cold tot he touch and the air around him tends to be frigid enought hat his breath puffs almost constantly, since his internal temperature is that of a normal human being. If he's around high temperatures for too long he will faint until he's moved somewhere to cool off.

He also has these cool swords that he coats in ice, as seen below.

These swords are routinely sharpened by him and the ice only used if he needs to add a bit of frostbite to a gash.

On the topic of his element, he can also make some sweet ice sculptures.

Looks: You see, Xander is an interesting individual. He has soft, snowy white-blonde hair with eyes close to the shade of blue that you see huskies have. He's pale, and all-in-all practically SCREAMS ice-element.

He also has a frail, thin-looking body hidden beneath his bountiful hoodies and sweatpants. Don't believe he's weak for a second, though. He's kept himself trained in swordfighting, hence his special blades. They're designed to hook into his opponent and painfully tear at them, similar to the use of serrated edges in blades of various sizes.

He stands at an average height, about 5'10", and while appearing un-intimidating he can quickly change your opinion of him once he pulls out his swords.

Personality: The ever cliche guy he is, Xander has a cold, distant personality. this, however, is not by choice. He knows that he's cold to the touch and that normal people operate at a temperature much higher than that of his skin. He's also aware of the cold aura that surrounds him, and he knows that normal people likely wouldn't be able to handle it without possible injury or illness of some kind.

He pushes people away from him to ensure their safety.
 He does not want to get close to someone emotionally, only to end up giving them frostbite and making them lose something vital.

Other:

HE MAY BE THE ICE ELEMENT BUT HE'S A FLAMIN' HOMOSEXUAL

sorry not sorry ladies

also I asked Soudodo if I could do this and she said yes

Name: -Maxwell James House
Gender: -Male
Age: -19

Element: -Water
Maxwell's abilities range from being able to breathe while submerged to physically changing small parts of his body (i.e. fingers, toes, etc) into a liquid form. He also dehydrates really quickly in the sun, so water bottles on hand are a must; he also gets really cold really fast. So he basically tries to avoid fluctuating temperatures usually.
(Im so pathetic with this element wow)

Looks:
Maxwell is ... Well, he's not large, but he isn't stick-skinny either. With broad shoulders and muscular limbs, he's built somewhat like an American football's quarterback. His dark hair is shaved close to his head, allowing his olive green eyes to be the focus of his face. While he isn't either over or under normal weight, he is on the short side. Not anything drastic, but close to 5'7" - definitely smaller than he'd like. His dark, tight fit clothes make his muscles definitely look bigger than they really are, though, so he accepts that as compensation.

Personality:
He's insane. Literally he is a stark-raving, Lear-esque, crazy as a loon madman. As in, he will sit in the corner and babble about demons and witches that don't exist. He hasn't always been off his rocker, however: some time ago, he got so fed up with being nothing but a test subject that he tried drowning himself. And of course he obviously didn't think things through, being the water element and all. But yeah, that's where his mind basically snapped; he is still a little suicidal, though he hasn't really tried anything since then. Most of the time his attitude is something along the lines of "Whatever happens, happens."

Other:

((Okay because I'm bored and lame and we really need to, I'm gonna go ahead and get this thing started. Any characters posted after this (I know a couple of you are working on civilians, aye?) will be generally accepted if you've already got someone in this or... Something.
Tl;dr im posting))

"Too early too early too early," a frail-looking girl muttered to herself as she mopped up the last of her oatmeal with half of a biscuit. Emily Tolstov was most definitely not a morning person; she yawned and glared around the mess hall at the handful of others, even though she felt terrible at giving them such a look. She popped the last bite of her breakfast into her mouth and stood up, taking care not to bump into anyone as she wove her way through the maze of tables and chairs to the window where the trays were picked up by kitchen volunteers and cleaned. Emily brushed the crumbs off of her jacket and walked, humming softly, back to the bunks.

Corporal Martin Saunders (though well, everyone called him Twitch) watched Emily with slight disdain before scanning the crowd to check who was present. He only got to Maxwell and Emily, however, before his attention was diverted by some up-and-coming hotshot who needed advice on something. With a forced smile, Twitch did his best to answer the soldier's inquiries on what exactly he should do about proposing to his girlfriend. By the time the other man was satisfied, the mess hall was packed with researchers, soldiers, and civilian workers.
"Damn it," he scowled, hoping to at least pick out where Maxwell was at. If he could find that one, he could normally count on Xander being at least somewhat nearby.

But no, Maxwell was alone today. He picked half-heartedly at his own breakfast as he replayed his nightmares from the previous evening over in his mind. Not that those were unusual; no, he was often visited by friends and enemies alike in his sleep, though the enemies seemed to like announcing their presence more than the benign figures. He shuddered at the thought of them and tried in vain to think of something more pleasant. He took his own tray to the window and, muttering obscenities directed at sleep in general, followed a few minutes behind Emily.

Gunner was a morning person. Not just any morning person though, Gunner was the morning person. The bright-eyed, cheerful, you-can't-put-a-damper-on-my-day morning person that everybody resented while they crawled through their morning routine of waking up. He woke up two hours before mess every day, getting in thirty minutes of stretching, thirty minutes of exercise before settling in for an hour of meditation. By the time most others were just beginning to crawl out of bed, Gunner was dressed, alert and ready to wolf down half a cow. Of course they weren't really afforded such luxuries on the base. So Gunner made do with the enormous helpings of oatmeal and hard bread he was currently inhaling into his system.

He pointedly ignored the looks of disgust he received from some of the other occupants. While the military food didn't exactly inspire him, food was food and he took what he could get. Of course it helped that he hadn't tasted anything but what he was given, so really, he didn't know any better. When the last of the oatmeal had been licked clean, Gunner sat back and stretched, running his sticky fingers through the mane of hair that fell past his shoulders, before pulling it back to tie it up in a messy ponytail. Satisfied now with his stomach full, he took his time getting up to put his trays away, fist bumping with one of the soldiers from base along the way.

"Tank full Diesel?"

He grinned and patted his stomach.

"For now."

As he loped out of the hall he paused to give a friendly tap on the shoulder of a very familiar tech, before chuckling to himself and moving on.

Darryl, who had been dutifully falling asleep into his breakfast, woke with a start, the tip of his nose smeared with yoghurt and a few grains of muesli on his chin. Unlike most of the others, the tech was given a bit more allowance when it came to food - he had an assortment of allergies and obscure reactions to poor diets. Initially a few people had grumbled about it, not really getting why the scrawny one deserved special treatment. But after seeing what happened when he was bullied into eating the same things they were, they left him well enough alone. He was nice enough to share on most days though, when none of his superiors were looking.

Darryl yawned tiredly, staring at Gunner's retreating back in a daze before returning to his breakfast, focusing very hard on getting the spoon into his mouth and not up his nose or something equally disastrous. His mind was slow this morning, not yet caught up to its full processing speed, having spent the better part of the night (and some part of the morning) running through the data from the latest subject test results and inputting them into the program he had designed. Was still designing. The red head sighed, rubbing at his eyes as his mind started to finally wake up. Hopefully he could finish early today. It was a very small chance but...a chance all the same. He dragged himself out of his seat, heading off to get his tray cleaned up, still very much unaware of the food sticking to his face.

((Aw yee!))

Jasper Marks was not a morning person by any stretch of the imagination. He barely got himself rolled out of bed and dressed in enough time to eat breakfast most days and only ever got up early because he was the medic and he kind of needed to be awake in case anything happened. He let out a yawn, running his fingers through his hair before he grabbed his gas mask, the black one since the air in here was cleaner than the green one would be required for. Once it was situated and he was ready to exit his room, he did just that, wandering down the hall with his hands in his pockets and his gaze focused downwards. He wished he didn't need this darn mask, but, hey, at least he could pull it off.

He waved to a few of the people in the cafeteria once he got there, deciding to go sit near a few random people to chat and eat. He was never really in the cafeteria long, as there was always a lot of people when he would tend to arrive. He wasn't overly fond of crowds, but he wasn't claustrophobic or anything like that, heaven's no. It just made him a bit uncomfortable since he was a medic and he was aware of his respiratory issues all too painfully, so he'd end up thinking too long on what could happen if he was there too long.

Upon finishing his breakfast he let out a contented hum, bid the others farewell, and headed up to get rid of his tray.

"Darryl, you have some food on your face," he said, moving to grab a napkin to start wiping it off since the poor guy didn't seem to be completely up to speed just yet.

Meanwhile, Xander finally made his way into the cafeteria with a groan, eating a rather small amount before he turned to wander off and search for Maxwell. He'd slept in longer than normal and now he'd gone and lost track of the guy. He was usually pretty good at helping to distract the guy from his inner torments by making sculptures and talking with him.

((Derp derp this looks decent in the box sob))

((We're all starting with this 'morning person' thing, huh? xD))

The only reason Kyre ever woke up at all was because of the promise of food. If food did not exist, the Elemental would have slept through his childhood (or, more as, the remains of it), sleep through his prime, and, later on, sleep through whatever came after prime (if he survived it).

Kyre wasn't exactly... What was the word? Anyway, he didn't exactly have a death wise, but he figured death might be a pretty good thing, since he'd apparently be able to sleep for an eternity or something, though he didn't quite fancy the aspect of being derived of food and slowly getting eaten by maggots.

Kyre ate food. Kyre was not food.

The auburn-haired adolescent chanted it to himself like a mantra as if it could convince his mind that it was worthwhile losing sleep.

The problem was, unless food was within bleary-eyed sight, it was as if his brain couldn't believe it.

Food. In. Mess. Room.

He repeated it again. But the comforter was so... warm... And outside was so cold. The outside was a cold, cold place.

But. Fooood.

Tentatively, like a cat test-ing water, Kyre stuck his nose out from under the blanket. The air bit him.

"Ow!" He yelped. The air was not nice. It played tricks on you. Even when they tell you that you were supposed to be the master of air.

Kyre imagined himself getting up, getting dressed, and eating food. It was in beautiful HD graphics, too.

However, it wasn't actually happening. Sulking under the covers was not getting him anywhere.

Groaning, he counted to three, before throwing off the covers, throwing on clothing as quickly as possible, hopping across the floor in bare feet (why hadn't he worn his socks?) to his shoes, without bothering to put them on properly before stomping down the hall, driving his feet in the confines of the material.

He stepped into the mess hall, and the wonderful scent of oatmeal filled his senses, along with a feeling of accomplishment of a magnificent and noble feat.

Ah, yes. Food.

((I will be playing comic relief |D))

EDIT: ((Why did they censor test-ing?))

Levi Caldwell was that type of man that wouldn't get up if the world was crumbling beneath his feet if he could help it. If he didn't feel like getting out of bed, he wasn't going to get out of bed, and that was final. It wasn't like he slept in; no, the guy had morals and tended to rise as early as the average soldier. It was just that if he felt like sleeping it, no one was going to prevent him from doing so.

That particular morning, most everyone was awake before him. Someone, although he didn't bother to check who, had poked his shoulder and attempted to prod him awake, but he blocked out the noises and pulled his pillow up over his head. The said person didn't attempt to wake him again.

He pushed the pillow off his head and onto the floor an hour or so later. The quarters for the soldier were hardly heated and the blankets were so warm, so he decided to ignore his responsibilities for a moment and refused to get out of bed for the next few minutes. It took a lot of mental encouragement, but he managed to throw the covers off and slide down onto the cold floor.

He managed to find a pair of clean clothes under the mass of dirty ones (he really wasn't very tidy, either) and pulled them on as quickly as possible to avoid being frozen alive by the less-than-warm air of the room. He was so anxious to get out of the room that he was practically still zipping up his pants as he stumbled into the mess hall.

His eyes still bleary and his hair still ruffled from sleeping on it, he managed to find where the oatmeal was being dispersed and took a seat by himself. He didn't really have anyone that he considered a good friend at the military base, and if he did, none of them were around anyway. He sighed softly, ran his fingers through his unusually short dark hair and began to pick at his oatmeal which was all but appealing and filling.

Piper Charlian was different, to put mildly. She could see into the Sun without blinking and she could form light bubbles. What more was there to say? Plenty more, according to the sprayed on messages on the walls around the army centre. Piper was an elemental. A light one, to be exact. Compared to people like Gunner, or Xander for instance, her and her powers were useless. Yet the army still insisted she stay in the centre 'in case we were in trouble'. In what sort of trouble? Power outage, yeah, her little balls of light would really help then, they only light a meter around her.

She was also strange for a 9 year old. Since the army kept her here, they decided they wanted to have Piper be the adorable one and gave her grey dresses instead of the army pants everyone else got. She detested them as much as a 9 year old could. Which wasn't a lot unless you've never been shown love.
Most young girls would get up at 7 after their parents woke them up, put on their frilly dresses and eat a delicious breakfast, then play with their dolls.
Piper however, had none of those privileges. The red haired girl always got up at 4:30am sharp, when it was still dark. She would get up quickly, form a light bubble so she could see, move her curly red hair into a somewhat presentable hairstyle - usually just a bedhead look - and grab her assigned outfit for the day.

Today it was pants.
Pants.
Real, army pants.
Well, real army pants that would probably be able to fit.. they were Kyre's.

Piper sighed dejectedly, she padded out of her room in her white singlet and shorties, down the hall to the Wind elementals room, opening the unlocked door and slipping in silently. She glanced around the room, blinking when her gaze flitted past the teenage looking boy, before coming to rest on a small pile of clothes near the bed. She threw the tshirt and pants onto the pile and ran out of the room, after she heard a creak from the bed.

When she got back, she pulled on the disgusting grey dress, before forming another light bubble as the sun was coming up. She had figured out not even a week ago that she could us the light to cut things. She pushed the light bubble through the dress around the waist, being careful not to let the light touch her. She may be the 'mistress' of light, but she didn't know if she was exempt to it's powers.
When she had finished cutting the dress, the bottom part fell away, slightly charred where the light had cut it. She then reached into her drawers and pulled out the one pair of pants she had, and pulled them on, adjusting the makeshift shirt. She ran her fingers through her hair again, yelping when she reached particularly persistent knots. She grabbed her old hairbrush of the ground and furiously ran it through her hair, before grabbing one of the 3 elastic bands she owned and painfully pulled her crazy hair into a ponytail, wincing when the rubber caught on her hair and yanked it.

At exactly 5:45 in the morning, the red haired girl padded out of her room, her shoes clicking on the hallway floor. She made her way to the Mess Room, where breakfast was being served, and her stomach growled pitifully.
Taking a deep breath, she looked at the ground as she slipped into the room, over to where they were handing out oatmeal. She grabbed a bowl off the lady ('Careful sweetie, it's hot!') and made her way to the back of the room, in the shadows.
Sitting down, she grabbed her spoon and ate the unappetizing meal, and slowly, the other elementals and higher ranked soldiers trickled in.
When she had finished, she got up to put the bowl back, she saw the fire elemental getting up to put his bowl back as well and she trailed behind him, well, there really wasn't much room for a 9 year old to push through.
She gave in her bowl, before turning around with her arms in front of her slightly. She walked quickly after Gunner, intending to ask him something, but she didn't notice that he had stopped.

So with her outstretched hands, she reached out to grab his shirt, but instead, grabbed his pants, right where they were stretched across his backside.
The light elemental froze and blinked, a fiery red blush fighting it's way onto her face, before she pushed past him and ran down the hallway quietly, before running into her room and slowly closing the door, imagined  voices laughing at her.

~
((Well then. Piper seems quite hate-filled right now. Did not mean for that to happen. I rushed it near the end because I have to go to school, but here it is :D))

Oddessa stretched as the light of dawn filtered in through her windows, the sound of a bird making sure the job was done. She fought with the idea of summoning a fireball to scorch the darn thing, but decided against it. She had to spend the day training, anyways. After getting into her fire-proof suit, she moved towards the mess hall.

She sat down at her usual table, alone, with her food, and scanned the room. The little light elemental was scurrying out, after having grabbed Gunner's backside. Poor kid. Oddessa couldn't help feeling guilty. She was the closet to the little girl's age, who's name she didn't even know! She sighed as she finished what was left in her bowl, putting it in the tub of hot water near the kitchen, and ran after the girl.
"Hello?"
But she had already disappeared into her room. Odessa sighed, and walked back to her own room, plopping down on her bed. Another day, another yawn. She cranks open her window, considering jumping out. The woods were right there. RIGHT THERE. [s]maybe she would mingle with the civilians a little[/s].She pushed that thought out of her head. She had other business! Oddessa settled for just sitting on the windowsill.

In one of the back corners of the mess hall, Keegan sat, reading a book. He had been the first one there and already ate. He didn't sleep a lot, so he had been up for a while. It had been a long week, and his patience with the newer people was wearing thin. He, unlike the majority of people, had all his equipment on. His mask was on, so only his eyes could be seen. Thats how he liked it. He watched people come and go.
Keegan finished and closed his book when a fellow veteran walked past and yelled "Sup Grizz'?".Keegan nodded in his direction, then pulled out one of his cigars. He lit it and sat back, waiting for the day to start.

((Tries to make a note of where the heckie everyone's at))

Maxwell shivered delightedly. Despite his earlier mood, the damp chill of the hallways leading to the boys' bunks was starting to lift his spirits. He even began to hum and, as he neared his bed, began to sing a little as he tidied up.

Come away, come away to the travelin' shore
Come away to the land of the gypsy lore
Come away with me to the chestnut store
All down the coast while the children snore

Emily paused across the hallway, listening. Well, Max was way tone deaf, but the lyrics were... Actually kinda cute. Well. Kinda.

Her attention was diverted, however, by a redhead disguised as Flash.
"Oh dear. I wonder what Piper's done," she half chuckled as she pushed the door open again.

~~~~
Twitch, after finally tallying up his squad, dug into his now-frigid oatmeal. The price one has to pay for being in command, he figured, was a cold meal. Ah well, he'd take that any day.
Flinging his empty tray onto the cleaning dock, he pinpointed and sat across from his scout.
"Mornin', Grizz," he yawned, fighting back the cigar smoke. "Wanna run a little errand for me today?"
