Ooc; Ooooh, nice. Get yourself some Aerix eggs and sell me a 'bino and achro plz. lol<3

Bic;

Pride was taken aback when Linka shared with him her outlook on him, which was positive. His steps slowed when she spoke those words, then abruptly picked up again. No one could tolerate Pride except for people like himself: shallow, arrogant, and most of the time, rude. Reviewing the time he spent with Linka, it likewise shocked him at his own behavior. This person he was around her, that wasn't Pride. Never before had he acted like this since the dawn of his existence. A troublesome thought, to say the least, when he wondered if he could somehow lose...himself?

It was Linka's gushing of the park they'd wandered into that brought him back from such depressing thoughts. A smile pursed his lips and he nodded in agreement with her when she said the shrubs were beautiful. It was a peaceful place, on a peaceful day. Pride watched Linka from the corner of his eye every once in a while, just to see her walking next to him. It fascinated him to see the different emotions flit through her eyes and shine clear as day on her smile. Fascinate might have been a more emotionally detached word to use, but that was just what Pride was. He enjoyed Linka's company and that was it. No strings attached.

"I hope this doesn't bother you but...doesn't it get lonely?" Pride took his time to mull over the question. It was sudden and he didn't exactly know how to answer her, or even know exactly what she was asking. The ground underneath his foot turned from stone to wood as he stepped up onto the gazebo. Thin body leaning over the railing, he propped his elbows up and shrugged his shoulders.

"It can get...lonely with my work, even if I'm the best at what I do," he said and winked. "I rarely enjoy being around my siblings." He half-smiled. "I have a feeling you wouldn't like them very much either. However I've lived long enough to get used to the life I'm suited for and there's not much I can do about it." Wanting to shift the topic before she asked anymore questions, even though she was bound to after that, Pride said, "And what about you? Ever crave some type of companionship?"

((I'd love to IF SOME ONE WERE SELLING AERIX EGGS))

She took her time examining the plants around them before Linka stepped onto the gazebo behind him. When August said she probably wouldn't enjoy his siblings, she furrowed her brows and pursed her lips, replying. "I liked your little sister." Linka moved beside him and leaned over the rail, propping herself up with her elbows and allowing her hands to dangle freely as she mimicked his pose. She glanced down to her bandaged hand and turned it over. She didn't like being asked the personal questions, but if he was going to turn the tides on her then maybe she should think better of what she says to him.

Linka thought about his question and what she felt surprised her. It took a moment for her to find the right way to word it without possibly scaring him off. "I used to not get lonely," she said, a smile on her lips and her voice reflected her smile. "The plants I grew were all I needed. I had no time to think about others, really. I used to think that people were too... boring. They all had the same personality and none of them really made an impression on me and whatever impression they did make, it wasn't pleasant." By then she wasn't smiling at all, her face was a bit stony and her gaze was distant, even though she was staring directly at her hands.

Shifting a bit, Linka added quietly. "It changed recently, though," and her small smile returned.

Ooc; Gosh okay. Buy 'em when they come out then. ;c

Bic;

Try spending centuries with her, Pride wanted to say, but instead said, "She can be persistently bothersome." Despite the irritation he felt when it came to this particular sister, his words brought a smile to his face. When Linka continued to talk after he'd voiced his own question, he listened. Really listened. It was when her words turned somber that he slouched to his side to look at her. The sweet smile she wore had gone and it didn't take long for Pride to put two and two together. Someone had hurt her, maybe more than one. It made his jaw tighten and his fingers stiffen, now curled against the railing of the gazebo.

"It changed recently, though." A sigh left him and he ran his hands through his hair. He could understand what she'd implied before, somewhat, but this was something out of his league. He'd never once cared for a human and never had one caring for him, if that's what she was implying? Women's thoughts. A contemptuous snort left him at his inner thoughts. And besides, nothing was out of Pride's league. If they were going to play this game, he would figure it out some way.

"If I ask you to tell me the names of those who hurt you, I'm assuming you wouldn't give them up," Pride said and looked away from her and out into the park. Sloth may be quite a burden on him, but in times like these, she could be useful. Pride assumed however, that Linka, being her, would guess some of Pride's intentions and decide not to rat the weasels out. Frustrating, he thought, how virtuous she was.

"I'm honored that you seem to think so highly of me, but you see only the person I am when I'm around you," he found himself saying, still keeping his gaze out and away from her. "You make me...different," he murmured, more to himself than to her.

A sort of painful laugh came from her and she shook her head lightly. "He was a lord in a city, the last city I lived in. I turned down his son's proposal. I hardly knew him and he only knew me by sight. When his father found out, he made sure I wouldn't forget my transgression," Linka reached up to her sleeve and tugged it down revealing a scar that slightly resembled a squashed spider on the left side of her back, the white skin raised from her pale flesh. She replaced her sleeve and added. "Like I said. Unpleasant impressions." Her lips curled in a bitter smile at the experience.

"Maybe if I didn't turn to run I wouldn't have been-" Linka forced herself to stop. The topic was unpleasant and she was certain discussing it would put both of them in a sour mood. Instead, she moved on to what he said, causing her to think about it and her heart to pump a little faster. Was he different when she wasn't around? The blood rushed to her cheeks, causing her to blush as she smiled at his last statement and she asked with a small voice. "I hope for the best..?" She withdrew into herself when she boldly asked the question, her hands wringing together out of embarrassment and she tilted her head away from him, allowing her blonde hair to create a barrier slightly to hide her blushing cheeks.

Pride felt his anger boil when Linka revealed the puckered skin that made up her scar. If his hands had clenched any tighter against the rail of the gazebo, the wood would have snapped then and there. Like an elastic, his influence wavered just on the edge of reaching out to Linka. He forced himself to gain control and looked away from her to flex his hands. I shouldn't feel such hatred toward someone that hurt her. Her past is her past, not mine. Still, the thought of someone laying hands on the woman beside him more than just irked him. Pride would find some way to get the so-called lord back and his son, no matter if Linka refused to tell him anything about them now.

"You hope for the best," he repeated and shook his head. His lean body stretched as he bent over and propped his elbows against the railing, shoulders hunching up a bit as he relaxed. "Linka..." he said, frowning when he looked back over to her and found that she'd turned away from her and hid her face behind her hair. Straightening, he reached out and brushed her hair back behind her ear. "I don't think it's for the better or the best, but I do enjoy spending time with you."

Linka hadn't noticed his reaction to her story. She tried not to look at him while telling the story. She felt shame from it. The fact that she cowered and ran away made her feel like a coward and that was a worse feeling than the actual pain from being stabbed. After a moment of silence, she felt a strange feeling lightly brush against her soul. It was a brief encounter, but it brought her attention to a peak as she lifted her head and blinked a few times, trying to figure out what had happened or what that feeling was. Her gaze flickered back to him when he tucked her hair behind her ear and she stared into his eyes a moment, trying to read them and read into the situation.

When she opened her mouth to question him, she saw an older couple walking down the pathway to the gazebo. They seemed completely enthralled by each other. A small smile formed on her lips and she nudged him gently and pointed to the couple, saying. "I think we should leave and let them have their privacy. It might get uncomfortable." As Linka turned to walk down the steps, she glanced over her shoulder with a bit of envy. She wanted some one to grow old with. Linka never made plans to actually find some one, though. She always assumed it would just hapen.

"What about your parents?" Linka asked him, arching a brow to him and glancing at August.

What could he say about his parents? Pride had no parents. He'd been manifested, birthed the same time as Humility had come into being. Pride never had biological parents, nor would he ever in his lifetime. "I never knew them," he said shortly and that would probably stop the questions from flowing. When Linka had looked over her shoulder, Pride was surprised to recognize the emotion that flitted over her elvin features. It was one he recognized well, having lived with the embodiment of such an emotion for as long as he could remember. To see exactly what she envied, Pride looked back at the elderly couple walking hand in hand around the gazebo they'd just left. Nothing out of the ordinary. What could she possibly envy from them?

They circled back to the main square and upon stepping onto the cobblestone street, Pride started to say, "Any other place you'd want to--" before cutting himself off. Well, speak of the devil, he thought. There was Envy tethering her mare to a post. Probably the ugliest of the Sins, Envy was quite the oddball with yellowed teeth, a noticeable curve to her spine, and knobbly fingers that wrapped around a wooden cane. It clacked against the cobblestone and a smile curved at her lips when she locked eyes with her silver-haired brother. Envy, however ugly she was, didn't look a day over twenty-five. She approached and Pride subtly took a step in front of Linka, narrowing his eyes in a warning at his sister.

"You're quite lucky," Pride said with a forced chuckle. "My family are known for being reclusive. It's not often we come into town. Linka, meet Katarina Gallo. Katarina, to Linka," he forced.

Linka turned back to him with pity and sadness on her face. How could he have not known his parents? It seemed almost like a crime. He lived such a lavish life, surely he couldn't have had the misfortune as she as well? "I'm sorry to hear that, August," she said, lightly touching his arm, but drew back, remembering his physical discomfort at being touched when she had touched his hand before. Linka folded her arms and walked in silence, thinking about how sad life would be had she not known a little about her parents, despite the sad, sad story it was.

As his sister appeared, it took every bit of willpower from Linka to not jump back in cry out in surprise. She consciously breathed evenly and gazed at August's sister. Not stare at her, but look at her as if there was nothing wrong. She noticed his point to step in between her and his sister and assumed she possibly had a sickness he didn't want Katrina to infect her with. A pleasant smile appeared across Linka's face and she curtsied to Katrina, having preferred to shake her hand instead, but was otherwise unable to. She also noticed his tone changed from casual, if not a bit regal, to a bit of a clipped tone.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Katrina," Linka said cheerfully. "I must be fortunate to have been able to meet three of the reclusive siblings." She chuckled a bit. Maybe he didn't like introducing Katrina because of the way she looked. His little sister was adorable, and he was handsome. Perhaps he was ashamed of this sister because he thought she gave his family a bad image. A flicker of a frown formed on her lips, but she quickly smiled again to hide it. Linka would have to talk to him later about manners and accepting people for who they are and not what they look like, regardless of to which family they belonged.

"Three of them?" Envy said and raised her brows in response. Her knobbly palm rubbed the top end of her staff as if she were in thought. "So that's what Lark has been blabbing about all day." She took her other hand, curling fingers like withered flower stems as they curled against her chin. She tapped her jawline three times and put on a good show of trying to place something. A wicked grin curled at her lips and she nodded to herself. "Ah yes, she mentioned something about flowers too?" Pride's eyes widened in alarm and he stiffened for a moment before forcing himself to relax. The emotion was gone as quick as it had popped up.

"Yes, Linka was nice enough to let Lark take home one of her flowers," he said pleasantly.

But Envy ignored her and took a smaller step closer to Linka. "Ah, but before plucking the one you gave her, she touched the others didn't she? How are the flowers, Linka? Still healthy?"

"Enough. Let her be," Pride said and jutted his chin back toward Envy's mare. Anger flashed in Envy's eyes. Their gazes held, tension rolling off of them in waves. Pride would not look away and back down, of course not. It was when Envy cackled and twisted on her heel, giving a short wave over her shoulder to the two of them, that he finally glanced to his side down at Linka. "She's a bitter woman," he said quickly, hoping to stop the flood of questions he assumed would sprout from Linka's lips.

She smiled, remaining quiet seeing as how August wanted to keep the two of them apart. As Katrina mentioned her flowers, Linka arched a curious brow. How did she know about Lark touching all her flowers? Before she could ask any questions, August sent Envy on her way, away from them and on to her destination. Linka watched her go as her mind began to race with all the questions she wanted to ask.

Once the woman was gone, Linka turned to August and opened her mouth, he spoke to her to do away with her questions except for one. Linka only paused a brief moment, closing her mouth once before opening it again to ask. "How did she know Lark touched all my flowers?" Linka stood there and scratched her head.

She didn't catch the bait that Pride threw, of course not. Instead, Linka was stuck on Envy's petty remark. "How did she know Lark touched all my flowers?" The lie couldn't have been more simple: She must've talked about it with Katarina back at home, nothing to worry about. As I said, my sister is a very bitter woman, Linka. She likes to play mind games. He looked down into Linka's eyes, the lie threatening to sprout from his parted lips, but he stayed silent. Frustration washed over him and he turned his head away to stare at Envy's back as she entered a small building. Once his sister's form disappeared behind the door, Pride looked down at the ground, anywhere but at Linka.

"Linka," he finally said, though he trailed off. A halfhearted chuckle crawled out of his throat and he ran his fingers through his silvery hair. It wasn't odd that Linka hadn't asked him about his peculiar looks; the glamour he wore prevented that. His matching silver eyes burned steely as he looked back at her and with a twist of his wrist, the glamour fell away. Now he stuck out like a sore thumb in this world, human attentiveness now tugged toward an anomaly, something not right. He tilted his head to the side.

"You make it very hard to lie to, Linka. Do you mind if we head back to your cottage? I would rather get away from curious ears," he said, noting a few people already glancing their way.

Her brows furrowed as he glanced away, avoiding eye-contact with her. Linka wanted to turn his head to face her, but again, she recalled his reaction to her touching him earlier and she stayed her hand at her side. The way he wouldn't face her made her worry. Doubt filled her mind about him. He knew something. Was this just a big plot to get back at her from before? No... what she saw on his face was true remorse. What she heard and saw from him next only further convinced her that this wasn't a trick, but there was something more to this man and his family than she initially thought.

Linka's expres sion shifted from concern to surprise. His appearance changed somehow... it was... different. It didn't look normal. Her first instinct was to move away from him, but she couldn't. Her legs refused to obey her mind and Linka stood firmly beside him, staring at him with slightly wide eyes and her jaw locked shut like glue sealed her teeth together. Linka tried to find the words or the will to move any part of her body, but she only managed to bl
ink a few times and swallow dryly. Something strange was going on. She didn't just realize he was gorgeous. Something changed.

At the mention of lying. Her mind finally got control of her body. Her face turned hard and she frowned at him. Was he lying to her?! No... not anymore. He wants to tell her the truth. Linka took a deep breath through her nose and nodded. "F-Fine." She stammered firmly and turned around, her skirt swelling from the power of her spin and she walked off without waiting for him. With her back turned to him, she allowed her emotions to show on her face. Fear. What could he have to say to her? Was this all a lie? She let herself get in too deep already, perhaps, if she was worried that the truth would scare her away from him.

Pride stared unbl[injection]inking at Linka and watched the realization dawn on her, realization at what she probably had no idea, but she knew there was something. The transformation on her face made Pride sad. The guard she’d let down around him thus showing her trust to him disappeared and was replaced with chiseled features and a frown. Obviously he’d upset her, he should have expected as much. Still, he was at a loss as to how to console her, already cursing himself for letting slip that he’d been sort of lying in the first place. If you want to see her, you’ll have to let her know what she’s getting involved with. It’s only fair.

A small voice in the back of his mind pleaded otherwise. Since when did Pride care what was fair? He took what he wanted and did what he wanted because he could. He could twist the minds of mortals until they were nothing but the scum they so desperately tried to hide behind smiling faces and false compassion. One look at Linka’s stiff form walking away from him somehow helped him push all of that away, and he dutifully caught up with her and led her back to her cottage. How badly he wanted to reach out and rest his hand on her shoulder to console her, but he stuffed his hands in the pockets of his trousers instead and rounded around the back of the place into her garden.

Greenery tickled his ankles and he took care not to step on any of Linka’s precious sprouts. It took some time to get to where he wanted to (he’d only been in the garden twice before) which was where Linka had been kneeling that morning. The flowers had still refused to sprout and now hung a little limp, green stems a little less green than norm. “I should have been more careful,” Pride said as he knelt by the flowers and stroked the air above the closed up petals. “You did nothing wrong with your flowers, Linka,” he said and sighed. He knotted his fingers together and sat his butt down on the ground.

“When Lark came back here, she must have touched them.” He reached out and ran his fingertip over the folded petals of a single flower and then rested his hands on his knees. “Obviously it doesn’t make sense: why does my sister’s touch make the flowers stop growing? The same way my touch can make this flower do this.” He stared at the flower he’d touched. The stem grew until it rose over the tallest near it and the petals darkened into a vibrant shade, petals unfolding and shadowing the other flowers as if it were screaming, “look at me, look at me!” He touched another next to it and like its counterpart it attempted to grow above the others. Competition between the two touched by Pride continued until the exertion to grow became too much and they wilted and died.

“If you’ve ever read Dante’s Inferno, you will understand where I am going with this. I have six siblings, Linka, which makes seven of us.” He rose to his feet and took a step back, not wanting to get too close and scare her. “Lark is extremely lazy, inadequate, slow, and mostly useless. Even if she wanted to change, she could not. Katarina lives only to make other’s life a misery for others to match her own sorry. They are not only influenced by the sins of sloth and envy,” he said and trailed off, silver eyes tightening, “just as I am not only influenced by pride.”

“My alias is Augustyn Gallo. My true name is Pride.” His eyes were troubled, gaze heavy, but he continued. “When I first saw you, I fancied touching you like I had the flowers, but something about you had been...different. I can’t say what. I’ve yet to figure it out. Upon getting to know you, I did however realize how achingly virtuous you are. You are my opposite: humble, self-sacrificing, and good. I do not know why I did not influence you before, but I do know that I would never, ever do that to you now. Even if you wish not to see me again, you have my word. I am sorry for not telling you this before, but the identity of the Sins has been given away before and although immortal, we can still feel pain...” He looked away and ran his fingers through his hair again.

Linka could only repeat in her mind 'You let him get too far in.' bitterly as they walked on. She let her defences down and let him in and now he was going to hurt her. Linka knew she could handle the physical pain, she lived through it and continued on as a strong woman, but this emotional and mental pain... it wasn't something she could easily recover from. She wanted to run. Run away from him before he could hurt her. Linka couldn't, though. Deep down, Linka knew she had to face him; she wanted to stare into his eyes as he hurt her...

No.

She wouldn't let him hurt her. Preparing for the worst, Linka steeled her emotions and mind and heart. If this was what he wanted out of all of this then she wouldn't give it to him. Once he got close enough, Linka shot a glance at him and saw the look on his face. Why did he look that way? He was doing this just to play with her so why did he look so genuinely... distraught? She saw him start to turn to look at her, so Linka reverted her gaze back to the road straight ahead as she thought. Was he being sincere? Did he regret lying to her and wanted to make things right? As her brain spun a dozen possibilities  they arrived at her home and she followed him to the garden.

She had to listen carefully to hear him speak softly as he knelt by the flowers. Linka stood close by as if watching to make sure he wouldn't harm them or damage them beyond what was already done. Her eyes stared hard and her ears listened closely to what he said and did. Once the flower began to grow before her eyes, Linka's jaw dropped slightly and her eyes widened. A sharp intake of breath was barely audible and part of her wanted to step closer and look at the flowers herself, but what he said next stopped her. He rose up and she stumbled back and continued to step back from him until she bumped into the table she had outside with her tools on it. The watering jug teetered and fell to the ground, shattering into several pieces, but she didn't notice.

Her lips formed the word 'pride' as she breathlessly spoke the word.  The realization dawned upon her without him saying it. He was the embodiment of a sin. Linka realized she was breathing erratically and quickly tried to calm herself down. How was this even real? This seemed all too much like a fairy tale, and yet... there he was, right in front of her performing magic... no... influencing her flowers back to life and making them grander than she could ever. "Can... can you control it?" She asked breathlessly. What if he couldn't? What if every touch from him would make her some big-headed egotistic? Linka had to suppress a shiver at the thought and looked back to Pride.

His suffering was apparent. Linka could tell he didn't enjoy the thought of being who he was and, at the mention of feeling pain, her heart pounded... did he mean what she thought he meant? Was he referring to the same pain she was worried he would make her feel just moments ago? He looked so vulnerable to her now. He revealed everything to her and she knew more about him possibly than anyone on the planet. Her knees shook as she pushed herself gently away from the table and took a few steps closer to him. She wanted to hold him, but she waited for his answer before she drew nearer.

He wasn't aware how painful it would be to see Linka stumble back from him like a frightened animal. He'd expected as much, of course, even thought of worse scenarios but somehow this, this dug deep. Her round eyes were frightened and he could see the internal struggle that was going on with her as their silence stretched. Trying to vie what she knew now with the logic of the world. It was a far-fetched idea but no matter the fools that say otherwise, seeing truly is believing. And Linka had seen what Pride could do and just as he completed his train of thought, she seemed to reach the same conclusion as him.

Then she surprised him. He should have anticipated that. After all, Linka never really did what he would expect of her, or rather what he expected from normal people. "Can... can you control it?" What a strange question to ask. His brows furrowed and he looked back down at the flowers that had ultimately killed themselves while trying to one-up each other. Of course he could control it. It was definitely a "survival technique" so to speak. Pride couldn't always thrust his influence onto others if he needed to negotiate with people or have something important done for him.

Why would she want to know though? "Yes, of course I can. Sloth is the only one who can not. That's why I got her out of your house as quickly as she'd come, and made sure you didn't touch her. Are you--" he started, but fell silent when Linka pushed off from the table and drew closer to him. His fingers flexed at his sides, entire body rigid and tense as if she had the power to break him if she chose to strike. When she was close enough, he slowly raised a hand and brushed his fingertips against her cheek, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. "See?" he murmured and let his hand linger on her skin.

It clicked with her. It explained why he didn't want her to touch him. He wanted to protect her from the demons inside him; the ones that would ruin her. He was trying to protect her this whole time even from his family. When he stepped between her and Katarina, he was protecting her still. He wasn't here to hurt her and Linka knew that now. Her eyes flickered down to her flowers as he gazed down at them and she frowned. There would be no way of reversing what had happened. She'd have to replant them all again. No matter. Her eyes met his again as he drew nearer to her to show he could control his influence.

It made sense Sloth couldn't control it. She was so little, so young. She wasn't sure how long she has actually been... alive... but she knew even with all that time Sloth probably had no desire to learn how to control it. Procrastination was Sloth's ally. Why learn today what can be put off for never? She was immortal and had all of eternity to push it off till later. She stopped her mental ramblings as Pride's hand came to her face and touched her cheek. Linka's eyes stared into his, unwavering and unblinking. Her breathing was conscious as she forced herself to breathe calmly. His touch sent a static charge through her body, numbing all senses but the ones that mattered: sight and touch.

His voice broke her trance and Linka couldn't find her words. Rather, she simply nodded and moved towards him with an eagerness like that of a craving that had been ignored for hours until it wouldn't be ignored any longer. Both hands reached around him and she pulled him into an embrace, one hand on the back of his head, the other wrapped under his arm leaving her face buried in his neck as she squeezed her eyes shut. Her heart pounded harder with every beat. "It's okay, August," she said, her voice strained and muffled. "If you can control it, I won't be afraid of you. I know you were trying to protect me, I realize it now..."

"It's okay, August. If you can control it, I won't be afraid of you. I know you were trying to protect me, I realize it now..." Pride tensed up when Linka closed the distance between the two of them and cradled the back of his head with her hand. He allowed himself to close his eyes and sink into her arms, forgetting for a moment that this was probably a bad thing, that in the end she'd probably end up getting hurt. Her hair tickled his nose but he nuzzled her, taking in her scent. She smelled like a lovely combination of the very flowers she grew out here, and it was a relief that he didn't scent any trace of fear. Even if he was dangerous to her, here she was holding him in her arms.

"You must realize what you're getting yourself into," he said into her hair. His arms had wrapped around her waist to return her hug, but he dropped them then. One hand reached back to take her arm from his back, the other to remove her hold on his head. "I am the most powerful among my siblings, said to be the original from which the others came to be, and that's not just my ego talking." His attempt at a joke came with a weak smile. "But Katarina and Silas, even Mammon, although he and I are on good terms now, they would not care if they harmed you. And they might just to get to me," he said. "Now that Katarina has seen you..." He rubbed his face and realized his predicament. Even if he didn't want to drag Linka into this and even if he wanted to offer her a chance to be pulled out of his life, there was no telling what Katarina would do now that she knew about her existence.

"What have I done to you?" he muttered aloud.

She lifted her head slightly as he spoke and she frowned. As he began to move her arms from around him, Linka said, "August," in a combination of a warning tone and a whining voice. The moment was perfect and he was breaking it. She couldn't help but smile at his joke and roll her eyes. At least he still had his sense of humour. Her exres sion turned to that of concern as he listed his siblings that would do her harm. Linka frowned a little and her brows furrowed as she tried to decide on which of the other four Sins they could possibly be. Curiosity got the better of her. "Who is Silas and Mammon?" Part of her knew which one Mammon was. Even his name sent a shiver down her spine.

Linka then shook her head and said. "No, August. Don't think like that," she spoke with conviction and stared into her eyes, her face etched with the features of determination. He was just opening up to her, and it was interesting and wonderful. Linka wasn't about to let him get away now. "I'm a big girl, i have taken care of myself for a long while now; so I think I'm quite capable. It's just an influence, isn't it? It's not like they can control me." Linka knew better than to make light of powers beyond herself, but she had to prove to August she wasn't scared.

Pride couldn't help the smile that twitched at his lips, first at her objection to his giving them more space and then her stubbornness about it all. Very naive of her, he thought and let her finish talking before he spoke to answer her first question. "The fool goes by the demon he's named after," he said. "Mammon is Avarice, or Greed if you will. He doesn't fancy getting into trouble with the rest of us. As for Silas...You would know him as Wrath." He didn't step away from her, but managed to keep his hands down by his sides. His thoughts turned to Wrath, the sibling whom he loathed the most. They'd pitted heads for centuries, as was their nature, and Pride knew that if Linka were ever discovered by his brother, there would be a world of pain to endure. The very thought of him laying a single finger on her...his jaw clenched.

"Capable? Linka, we are the embodiment of the evil that plagues this world. You would not be able to protect yourself." He sighed. "Our power does not stop at our influence. We have done worse things over the years than just cause havoc." The 'we' made him cringe. Had she not come to realize that Pride had done all of the unspeakable? How many women he'd bedded, voluntarily or not, people he'd killed from sheer boredom, lies spun, lives destroyed. Never in his entire existence did he loathe himself as he did then. Never had he ever felt remorse for the things that he'd done. He'd thought that was impossible. Pride was a sin, inherently evil. Evil did not feel regret.

"I do feel, however, that you would be able to...withstand a touch from one of them, so to speak. If one of them ever does manage to do so, I want you to promise that you'll tell me immediately." His silver eyes were serious as they looked down into hers.

((This response sucks. ;___; iSorry.))

Linka's assumptions were incorrect, but still they brought chills to her. This was an interesting situation she had gotten herself in to. She listened to the names of his brothers and she watched his face, taking note of his clenched jaw after he mentioned Wrath. Linka paused to consider what could happen. Katarina knew about her, would she tell the other siblings? Would Lark tell them? Lark would probably only assume August was going about his usual business, so she didn't pay much mind to that thought.

Again, he went about trying to deter her from her thoughts, or rather, warn her and try to keep her thinking with a level-head. Of course she knew they were a force to be reckoned with, but she didn't want him to worry so much. Linka knew he would worry regardless, but she didn't want him to treat her differently now that she knew the truth.

As his eyes bore into hers, Linka stared at him unblinkingly, though she did feel a bit intimidated. Taking a moment to pause, Linka nodded and replied. "I will, August." She knew if she said no it would not only be foolish, but might push him out of her life. She didn't want that, now that they had come so close...
