As the sun rose above the darkened forest, a rainbow-colored male stirred and walked out of his den, eyes dulled and sad. He figured that he was the only one who ever rose and fell with the sun, so he thought he had a while to himself to grieve for his mate and pups. He closed his eyes, lowering his head as he began to hum his mate's favorite little tune, one she would sing for him all the time. He really missed her, and missed the pups that he knew would have grown up into fine wolves.

He felt a tear slide down his muzzle and fall to the ground, color-swirled eyes closing.

Mei's eyelid's slowly opened to the bright morning light. Her strange pink eye's pale from her long sleep. She raised her hiney into the air and made a long stretch, followed by a grunt. She lazily walked to the mouth of her cave and surveyed the area. She closed her eye's and gave the air a good sniff. She smelled the usual, The male, 'Lyte' and the herd of elk that graze's on the pasture near by. She gave one last stretch and swished her tail. She ventured out of her cave slowly, the bright morning sun making her flentch  her eye's. She changed her attention to a loud grumble in her belly. As it couldn't come at a better time, a plump hare came racing by. She galloped after it. After she had killed it, she placed her paw on it's side and quickly gulped it down. She continued on her way, surveying the area for any potential predator's, or prey. At that time, she didn't even think of a mate, pup's, or a pack. She knew that if she even tried to join that Lyte's pack, he could very well tear her limb from limb. She shook those thoughts from her head, and shook the morning dew from her coat. She glanced at the ground, then looked at the pack leader to the far right. She looked ahead and continued to the creek. Once she arrived, she lie down under one of the looming oak tree's and pawed at some rocks, splashing as they tumbled into the rushing water. As she lie her head on the soft creek sand, She let go of her happy go lucky self and released several mating calls. She slung her head up in surprise of what she had done. She dug her paws into the soft sand and shook her head. "It's only a matter of time before I get a 'Unwanted' reply." She said to herself, "Ugh, I can be so dumb and let go of myself sometimes." She growled, slightly baring her canines. She raised her head and looked both way's. She could not see, but smell wolf's all around her. "Ugh." She grunted to herself, and lay back down in the sand.

Lyte lifted his head upon scenting a dead deer nearby. He swished his tails as he stood, walking over to sniff at it before sitting down to take a bite. all seven tails curling around his paws, the blood staining the many colors, minus the red of course. He was going to have to thank whoever brought him this.

Lyte perked his ears up and lifted his head, putting on his happy face in case it was a member of his pack. He didn't want them to know just how hurt he still was...

He licked the deer's blood from his muzzle, color-swirled eyes softening slightly as he though back.
