After handing her the shirt, I turned the other way. Not knowing if she would take it off here or in the bathroom. I realized then I probably should have taken her to the bathroom anyways for the bullet. Ah well. I wasn't thinking clearly; I never did at this time once the reality of Sally being gone comes in.
"The thing is, I didn't get shot in my shoulder."
I frowned, lifting an eyebrow and warily sneaking a glance to see if she was done. But, the second I turned around, I wished I hadn't. My once kind eyes turned to a disbelieving anger that is so rare to my face.
"How dare you."
I snarled, my eyes not being able to go to her face and stuck on her wings.I felt disgusted as I backed away, as though not wanting to be anywhere near it - which was the truth. A Valkyrie was in my home. A real live Valkyrie. I had a gun in my drawer, and the only thing from stopping me to get it was my conscience. I only got the gun for when I was harmed, and Eden hadn't done anything to harm me.
Understanding came to my features. She lied about the men. She lied about the barrel. She probably even lied about her name. It was all an act because of the bullet wound.
"How dare you manipulate me. I opened my home to you."
I pointed to the door, no desire to help her with the wound anymore. Knowing that this thing wore my wife's clothes only made me more upset.
"Get. Out."
I said, the snarl still in my ex pression.

Eden cowered slightly when anger showed on his face. His face that had been so kind, so full of sincerity- something that she had lacked- was now marred, contorted with anger and fury. His snarl made her let out a small whimper. She actually was scared now. She'd never been around humans long enough for them to actually snarl at her like that, or to have their face get like that.
She was a Valkyrie. A pest. A varmint. But she was still a person. And she was scared.
When he said that he opened her home to her, and repeated his how dare you, she felt tears fill her eyes. She really shouldn't have manipulated him like that. But if she hadn't found someone to get the bullet out, she would end up getting an infection. If the infection got serious enough, it would kill her.
She was scared, and ashamed. She hadn't known what to expect when she revealed her wings, her dark, ebony wings that matched her hair perfectly.
She stood from the bed as he told her to get out. As scared as she was, she couldn't leave. She couldn't fly. She would be easy prey for both humans and animal predators alike. She would die. And she knew that reasoning most likely wouldn't work.
So she begged. And seduced.
"Please, Nicholas," she said, her brows furrowing with sadness and desperateness. "I beg of you, please! You have to help me! I'll do anything, anything. I can't fly. I'll die if you make me leave.... Please, don't do this. I'll do anything..." Her voice had started off strong, but by the time she finished, her voice was quiet, soft, and timid, though it wasn't an act. She couldn't fight him like this. Even though she was a Valkyrie, Nick would overpower her in seconds. "Please..."

[[ STOP MAKING ME LAUGH! D: ]]
My back was against the door by the time she was done speaking. The idea that we were in my bedroom, alone, with my shirt half unbutton wasn't coming to my mind anymore like it had been before - I was about to suggest we move somewhere more appropriate before I saw her wings. Seeing them kept me close to speechless.
I worked my jaw. I wasn't a bad man. I couldn't just throw her in the streets to let her die. It was obvious she couldn't fly away and the second someone saw her they'd shoot another bullet at her. Probably do other tortures things to her with a smile on their face. I couldn't let her go through that, no matter what she was.
"Fine."
I growled, brushing passed her with the gentleman demeanor completely gone from my conduct. I walked to the bathroom with out waiting for her, looking through the cabinet for tweezers - they might be to small to fish the bullet out but I can try - and I wet a rag so she can wipe off her... Feathers.
"You'll stay here until you can fly. I expect you to be gone by the time it's healed."
I said, my voice reluctant. I had no desire for a Valkyrie to stay in my home. The bathroom was across the hall from my bedroom so if I turned my head to the left, I could see her. I did just that, turning my head to let my brown eyes bore into hers as I added,
"Never wear my wife's clothes again. Wear mine if you have to until I get you some. Never again will you touch her things. Got it?"
Once the rag was hot, I motioned for her to come with me with a small wave of my hand, the disgust still on my face. "We'll have to keep this from Lynda. I don't know how she'll handle it."
I added, sitting down on the toilet so I will be able to be at eye level with her wing.

Ooc:// How am I making you laugh? ??? XD

Eden watched as the man clenched and unclenched his jaw. He'd been so kind to her when he thought she was a human. Perhaps she should have just stayed lying, and then went to the forest to die. The world, according to humans, would be much better without her. She would never do such a thing, though. She would fight until her dying breath.
As he brushed past her, the girl winced as her wing was jarred. She reached up to touch the bullet wound, hoping it would dull the pain. It didn't work. Then she realized what he had said.
He'd agreed. He'd said 'fine', but still! He agreed! She wouldn't die! She wouldn't be killed, or violated, or exploited! She was going to live! The Valkyrie was overjoyed. She did her best not to let it show on her face, though. Also, she wouldn't have to do anything for him, it seemed. He wouldn't take advantage of her 'anything' statement. The girl was grateful.
Still, a bit of seducing would help her predicament.
When he began to state requirements for her being able to stay, she chewed on her lip. She would have to wear his clothes, it seemed. At least, until Nicholas bought her some clothes. So, she guessed that the shirt she had been wearing had been his wife's. She didn't even know she was dead. She thought that she perhaps had left him, or gone travelling for a few days.
If that were so, Eden could only imagine the lady's face when she returned home, only to find a tall, curvy, long-legged, ebony-haired girl- a Valkyrie, no less- wearing her husband's clothes. She knew the ex pression would be anything but happy and welcoming.
She moved forward when Nicholas motioned for her to cross the hall. Her wings bounced lightly as she moved, her hips swaying slightly more than normal- that's where the seducing came in handy. She dreaded when he would have to fish the bullet out- he would have to get rather close to her, seeing as how the bullet had gone into the bottom side of her wing, which was the part that folded against her back when she concealed her wings.
She passed Nicholas and sat down on the bathroom counter, swinging her legs slightly below her. "I understand. I won't mention it to Lynda. I swear. Thankyou. So much." Her eyes bore into his, relief and actual thankfulness in her tone.

[[ I can't remember what I was talking about. |D ]]
I swallowed convulsively as she walked to the bathroom. I ignored how much I liked how the Valkyrie walked before twisting so I could see her wing better when she sat on the counter. It was like she was teasing me with out even trying since I was so close to her now. What was it that made you notice a woman's body more when you're alone? Especially when you're agitated too, it seemed.
I didn't respond to her thank you. Saying 'You're Welcome' felt like I was fine with all of this. And I wasn't.
"I'll try to clean the blood off first. It'll be quite hard to look for the bullet with such dark feathers blending in, so the blood will only make finding it harder."
I felt like a doctor, telling my patient everything I did and why before I did it so she wouldn't have to worry if I was doing something I shouldn't. Grabbing the rag from the sink she was sitting at, I tried not to look down her back and legs. This wasn't funny. At all.
I think it was obvious that I was disgusted at touching her wings by my ex pression. Never in my life did I ever think I would be helping a Valkyrie, much less touching it's wings. It was like dissecting a pig. It was fascinating yet completely disgusting at the same time.
After finishing cleaning her feathers, I grabbed the tweezers and looked inside her wound. I could see the bullet in the wing after a couple moments of looking, all I had to do was fish it out with out her feeling to much pain. Just before I was going to fish through her wound for the bullet I asked,
"How long do you think you're going to stay?"
Maybe I can grab it with the tweezers as she spoke, too distracted to feel as much.
[ What I'm trying to say is that the second she starts talking, he's going to get the bullet with his tweezers. Could you power play him doing that once she speaks? I know you don't like power playing but this is actually my intention. ^^ ]]

Eden was grateful that the man told her what he was going to do. She liked to know what was being done to her before he actually did it. Some other Valkyries- when they treated her wounds as a child- didn't tell her, and she ended up screaming in her high-pitched soprano voice, nearly busting the doctors' eardrums.
She'd never been worked on ever since, to say.
She fought back a wince as Nicholas cleaned the blood off of her feathers. Where he touched, the muscles under the feathers rippled outward. It was a strange sensation to have your wings touched, but it felt wonderful. That was, if that touch wasn't around a wound.
She wasn't aware when he picked up the tweezers to fish the bullet out. She just knew he was asking her a redundant question.
He'd already told her that she had to leave as soon as her wound was healed. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes. Instead, she swung her legs a bit and said, "I'll leave as soon as I can fly-"
"Yeowch!"
A sharp, burning pain flared in her shoulder, and she jerked away, ending up with her butt in the sink, one of her legs splayed on the counter, and the other lying below her. She focused in on the tweezers in Nick's hand and saw the shining, silver-tinted bullet in his hand.
"You could've given me some warning, you know." She narrowed her eyes, pursing her lips.
Ooc:// I hope that was sufficient.

[[ Lol, it was fine. Thanks! ]]
I was glad I got the bullet when I did, for if I missed, I would have made it a whole lot worse as she fell into the sink. I suppressed the urge to laugh. I wasn't supposed to find something funny with a Valkyrie. I was supposed to hate her. And hating I shall.
"No, Eden. I meant to say, how long do you think the wound will take to heal before you can leave?"
I asked, the chuckle unable to be hidden in my tone as I set down the tweezers and rag. I looked at her wound, my lips matching hers as they pursed. Mostly because I was concentrating on looking at the wound and not her legs.
I'll have to stitch up the wound, it seemed, though the bleeding stopped.
"I'll have to clean the wound with a remedy of mine so it won't get infected, and then I'll have to stitch it up. I recommend you don't squish it in my shirts, though I don't know how else we'll keep this from Lynda..." The last part was me murmuring to myself in thought. I looked through the cabinet again for this remedy to clean the bacteria off.
I went back over to the wing and sprayed the remedy to kill the bacteria.
"This'll sting." I said - after I sprayed it. Oops, to late once again. Fishing through the cabinets, I ignored Eden - if I looked at her and not at her wings, I will surely only look at her legs splayed out like they were.
"The painful part is done. You'll just have to sit still so I can stitch it up."
I said as I sat back down on the toilet and started on my project.

Eden didn't find it amusing at all when he chuckled at her when she'd scrambled away from him. She didn't really know how long it would take for her to be able to fly again. If the bullet had only scraped her muscle and skin, it would take no more than two days. But, since the bullet had chipped her bone slightly, it would take a while longer.
Uh, no.
He was not stitching her wound up. No, sir. Eden didn't like anything to do with needles. No, no, no, no, no. No.
But, still, he seemed so kind now, and willing to help, just like he had seemed before he had known she was a Valkyrie. Nicholas was confusing her. Did he enjoy her company, or hate her? Harbor friendly feelings for her, or harbor unfriendly feelings for her. It was all so confusing.
She watched as he murmured, retrieving something. She couldn't hear what he said, and when he came towards her with a bottle of something, she had expected it to be some soothing solution. So much for that.
As it was sprayed on her wound, she felt her wing twitch, the feathers rippling. No, scat! Heck, yeah it stung. Thanks for the warning, Nick, she thought to herself sarcastically, rolling her eyes, which had been brimmed with tears of pain by now. What did this stupid human think he was doing, molesting her wing and all?
When he said that he was going to stitch it up, and that the painful part was over, Eden fought the urge to laugh out loud. He thought that getting a needle driven through your skin and having your skin sown back together wouldn't hurt. He was nuts. Simply loony.
Either way, she wanted to get this over with. The sooner she could fly, the sooner she could get away from this lunatic.
She scooted over to the side of the counter closest to Nicholas, extending her wing as far as it would go. The tip of it was six feet away from her, the dark feathers brushing the shower curtain. The ebony-haired girl sighed.
"It'll take me about a week to be able to fly again, I guess."

I hesitated as the needle rested against her wing. I learned how to stitch from when Sally fell down the stairs, busting her knee open. I watched the doctors stitch her up, so let's hope I still remembered everything they did.
I slipped the first thread through, wincing for her when the needle went through her skin. "Sorry." I mumbled every single time the needle sliced through. Even though she was a Valkyrie, it wasn't in my nature to like people in pain. I couldn't help but feel bad.
"Alright, Eden. It's all done now."
I said, as though I was the one going through the pain and wishing it would end - with a relieved tone. When she told me it would be about a week, I chose not to respond. The only thing I would be able to say is something negative - like I hoped it would be in a day or two and then she'd be out of my hair.
"You can keep my tank top for the night, and tomorrow I can give you my smallest shirts until I save enough money to get you some of your own clothes before you leave."
I said, before standing up from the toilet. Again, even though I didn't like her around, I'd be willing to spend my money on her because it was in my nature to want to be kind. I couldn't really help it.

Eden pursed her lips together as she felt the needle pierce the feathered skin near her wound. She closed her eyes shut so tightly she could see faint, colorful shapes dancing in the darkness of her eyelids. He was courteous enough to say sorry after each time he pierced her skin.
She hissed near the end, being unable to bear the pain for much longer. She could tell that the job was clean, and well-done. When he said it was done, Eden let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding- a relieved sigh passed her lips, and she spoke a word in the Cherokee language.
She took in several deep breaths and listened to what Nicholas said. Tomorrow, she'd be provided with clothes that would be large on her, no matter how small they were on Nicholas. Lynda would wonder what was going on. She'd most likely think of something scandalous. Eden bit her lip.
She slid off of the counter gracefully, and didn't bother trying to make her hips swish more than they normally did when she took a few steps away from Nicholas. The pain in her wing was still burning her. She peered at him over her shoulder. "Thankyou. Thankyou so much. You have no clue how much danger I would have been in if that bullet didn't get pulled out. You would make a good doctor."

When she hopped off of the counter, I stepped back to let her through so my arms wouldn't brush against her wings. Once she was out of the bath room, I was about to leave to and go to bed - and try forgetting this night mare - when I heard her speak.
"Thankyou. Thankyou so much. You have no clue how much danger I would have been in if that bullet didn't get pulled out. You would make a good doctor."
I swallowed, not wanting to respond at first. She was a Valkyrie. I won't be telling her it was no problem because she was a problem. But a sheepish grin that I couldn't help came to my lips as she told me I would be a good doctor. I had actually wanted to study it more in my schooling years - that's why I had all of the remedies and needles in my cabinet to help the Valkyrie with her wound - but Sally didn't think it would be a good idea. I'd have to wake up in the middle of the night for midnight injuries and... It would be a disaster, she had said. Not that she was the bad guy. I had chosen, all in all, to not study it more.
But hey, it still made me feel good when someone said that.
"Thank you."
I said curtly, the grin disappearing from my face when I looked to her wings. I walked to my bedroom, closing the door behind me with out another glance, before unbuttoning the rest of my shirt, slipping it and my pants off, and disappearing under the covers.

Eden wondered why a grin came to his face when she mentioned him being a doctor. Of course, Eden wondered many things about humans. It was strange how they could be not much different than Valkyries, and yet they acted so differently. Humans craved company, while most Valkyries liked to be alone and free.
Still, Valkyries craved company too, sometimes. But not nearly as much as humans. And even if the Valkyries did have company, it was the same few people every time- their flock, so to say.
The ebony-haired girl raised a brow when his grin disappeared as he looked at her feathery appendages. And here she was, thinking that he'd forgotten about them for a while. It seemed that he hadn't.
Well, at least he thanked her. She was getting somewhere. As he disappeared into his room, Eden disappeared into hers, and layed on her stomach when she got onto the bed so that her wing wouldn't get smushed by her body weight. Her dark eyes slowly fluttered closed.
She dreamt of flying again in the sky.

I awoke the next morning, feeling more weary then usual. It took me a couple moments and then I realized why. My eyes snapped open. There is a Valkyrie in my house. In my guest bedroom. Wearing my shirt.
I covered my face with a pillow, not knowing how to react. I couldn't have a temper tantrum, I had enough of one last night. Now, it was time to get through the week with out anyone knowing a Valkyrie is in my home.
I got up from my bed, goosebumps coming on my skin because I only wore my underwear. Coming to my drawer, I slipped on my usual clothes, tightening up my tie, and looked through my clothes for older shirts that Eden can wear. Seeing as I don't think she planned to go anywhere, it wouldn't really matter about the style. I found 7 shirts and 7 pants that were much shorter on me now (Most were sweat pants). I didn't know what she was going to do about under wear and bra. I refused to go shopping with her for those... Necessities. I walked out of the bedroom and set the clothes down by her door before walking down the stair, the smell of Lynda's famous french toast coming to my nose.
I walked into the kitchen, pecking Lynda's cheek - what can I say, I was always a mama's boy, and she was like my mother to me. - and finding my seat at the kitchen table.
"Is Eden awake?"
Lynda asked. I lifted an eyebrow and looked back at her. I hope she wasn't. I didn't need a reminder that a Valkyrie was here. The thought of her coming down with out hiding her wings in front of Lynda came to my mind, and I shot up from my chair.
"Uh. She's not feeling very well." Not the best lie. Instead of staying away, Lynda will want to nurse her instead of me. "Let me give her a plate." Giving her a toothy grin, I disappeared from the kitchen with her plate and utensils. I came to her bedroom door and knocked. "Eden. I have your breakfast. Are you decent?" How embarrassing it would be to see a Valkyrie naked.

Eden was spiraling down, down, down. Her wing was killing her, burning. She felt as if it was on fire. She looked over to see blood soaking her feathers, and gasped. She couldn't land in the water. Pirates would get her! Maybe it was a pirate that had shot her. Nonetheless, if she couldn't fly, she would die. She would be done for.
Tears started streaming down her face in mid air, trailing slightly behind her as she fell. She opened her eyes to look down- to see where she would land. She was greeted by the sight of a wooden ship, its gears turning and hissing as it cut through the water.
She was so close to hitting it.
A hundred feet.
Fifty feet.
Twenty feet.
She closed her eyes, preparing for impact, ready to hit the ship.
Knock, knock, knock!
Eden shot up like a rocket, her hand over her chest, breathing heavily. She looked at her wing- it was all stitched up. It had been a dream. She'd just relived what had happened earlier in the previous day. She put a hand on her forehead. She sat up so fast that she'd given herself a headache.
Eden. I have your breakfast. Are you decent?
Eden fought the urge to roll her eyes. Of course she was decent. She hadn't stripped last night. Though, the shirt that Nicholas had let her wear had been soaked with sweat, and clung to her upper half. Her wings were still out of her shirt, and she'd somehow rolled onto her back in the middle of the night.
She got out of the bed slowly, her legs achy, and her head pounding. She yawned, stretched like a cat, and moved to the door. When she opened the door, her hand was up at her face, rubbing at her eye as she let out another yawn. She blinked several times to clear her vision and peered up at Nicholas.
"Nope. I'm not decent. I'm totally naked," she said sarcastically, a small grin playing on her face. She looked down to the floor, spying several shirts and pants that she guessed were Nicholas's.

As Eden opened the door, I held out a plate of french toast, already smothered in butter and syrup. "Very funny. I don't think it would be so hilarious if I ran in on you changing." I said, my voice completely serious, as was my ex pression. My usually friendly self was ruined by seeing her wings every time I saw her now.
"Anyways, I have clothes here that don't even fit me anymore." I said, tapping my foot with the shirts and pants in a folded pile by her door. "And I have breakfast. Hope you like french toast." I said, allowing a small smile. I couldn't help it. It was in my nature to be kind and it was killing me not to do so.
"I know you probably wouldn't like be caged up in your room, but I don't want Lynda seeing you and your wing won't heal properly if you don't keep it out. So, I'd rather you stay in this room for the week."
I said, handing out the plate for her. "Enjoy." I said, this time my crooked grin not being able to stop coming to my lips.

Eden laughed sleepily as Nicholas commented on her sarcasm. He was being serious, and it drove Eden nuts. She took the plate of french toast as he handed it to her, grabbing the corner of a piece that wasn't completely smothered in the sweet, sticky syrup, and biting into the french toast.
"Thanks for the toast, and the clothes. But you should know that I'm ridiculously claustrophobic. And if I stay in here all week, Lynda's going to get suspicious," she said around a mouth full of toast. She was ravenous that morning, and she was wolfing down the food on the plate.
"No joke, Nick. If I stay in here all week, I'm liable to get cabin fever or something." She raised her brows. She was deadly serious. Eden didn't mind staying in a room for a day, but for an entire week? That was insane! It would drive her insane!
"Perhaps I could get out at night, or something? Maybe go for a run?" She was hopeful.

[[ Tell me you're still on. :u Awh! They get to take midnight strolls. <3 ]]
I was glad that I had gotten to her when I did. She seemed starving by the way she cleaned the plate. I pursed my lips at what she said, hoping she wasn't saying the truth. I mean, yeah, Lynda could get suspicious. But, Eden looked so shy and helpless when I first invited her to my home, that maybe Lynda would just leave her alone.
Not going to happen.
I pinched the bridge of my nose. The only idea I had benefited her, but not me.
"Can't you at least deal with staying up here all day? Then at night we can go outside." Yes. We. Because if she went by herself, there is a possibility someone would shoot her. "You still can't hide your wings, so I'll be with you when you walk. If anyone sees you through the window - though I doubt it since it'll be late - I'll just say that I'm keeping you. As a pet." I felt bad for treating her as a pet. "Sorry it has to be that way. I'm not a sick man that wants you as a pet. But that's the way to keep you safe from their bullets." My tone was surprisingly soft compared to how much I didn't like her, or her wings.
