Alfred blinked and glanced down, chuckling softly as he watched Vodka's tail twitch a little bit, taking a moment to locate Penny and grinned when he saw she was perched on a nearby countertop watching Vodka. "He also has someone watching him," he said with a soft laugh before turning to watch Ivan make his own burger. "And, well, yeah I like burgers but I'm also kind of lazy when it comes to cooking usually," he said with a chuckle. "Hence why I was pretty much living on freezer dinners," he murmured, moving so he could lightly lean against his Russian.

The. He moved to grin up at him. "Perfect, actually," he said rather happily. Then he rested his head against him for a moment. "So are you hungry enough for just one or should we both try two?" he asked, his ex
pression curious. He had a feeling he'd be pretty fine eating two, but he wasn't sure where that came from since normally he only really ate one.

To Ivan's amusement, Vodka soon backed out of the cupboard with a plastic bucket on his head, managing to shake it off after a moment. The bewildered feline then proceeded to sit and lick his paws, as though he had meant to do that all along. “Ahhah, so he has~ I wonder if she is as amused as we are?” He mused aloud, glad that his new cat hadn't been causing havoc while they'd not been looking, and wondering whether Penny intended to jump on Vodka. “I suppose that what you say makes sense.” He responded, when Alfred mentioned that he was not very cookery-oriented. “Ahh, thank you~” He added, when he was told that his efforts were good. He could feel the sweet-smiling blond leaning gently against him, allowing his head to rest on Ivan, and the Russian transfer could not help but feel that he was the luckiest member of this new community he found himself in. After all, did he not have a sunbeam of a man right there against his side? There could surely not be many who could claim that. “Hmm? Ohh, I would not say no to eating two, if you do not think that it would be too much... I am quite hungry now...” He replied, feeling a little sheepish. On the one hand, he didn't want Alfred to think that he was greedy, but he was most certainly tempted to take up the offer.

Alfred chuckled as well, turning to glance back at Penny, who had indeed adopted a different stance from her place on the table. Her fluffy tail waved a couple times as she crouched, ears perked until Vodka was close enough for her pounce on, which she did immediately. Alfred laughed softly, shaking his head a little bit before he moved to look back up at Ivan.. "Nah, it's not too much," he responded, reaching over to start making himself another one. "I mean I don't normally eat two but I have to say that I'm pretty hungry," he added, tilting his head a little bit. He wasn't complaining in the least, but why did he feel hungrier than usual? Sure, he had those days where he ate more than normal sometimes but he wasn't sure if it was every to the degree of eating three larger burgers in a day. But, he supposed, he'd probably done it a couple times beforehand already. How else would he really be able to know that his body could handle all that?

Vodka didn't seem to have been aware of his 'peril' up until he was collided with by the female cat, and he let out a startled squeak. He wriggled, batting at Penny with his paws - though his claws were not extended - before rolling onto his back. Among cats, showing one's belly was a sign of submission, a way to say 'I give in' or 'I trust you', and more likely to be a wise idea than struggling too much against an established cat whose capabilities were unknown. Vodka wasn't looking to offend Penny, so he was being careful. This didn't stop him from batting playfully at her ears, though.

"Ahaha, they are funny~" Ivan giggled, amused by the antics of their feline friends, before listening to what Alfred had to say. It was a relief to hear that it would not be too much, and it showed on his face. "Spasiba, I do not always eat as much as that, but I feel that I have enough space inside to do so." He responded, wondering why he had the vague impression that the American by his side could probably put away several burgers in a sitting if he was so inclined. It conjured a rather ridiculous mental image, of Alfred eating multiple burgers in quick succession, all while apparently trying to make some kind of point. He managed to avoid snickering, but he was still both amused and a little perplexed. After all, had not Alfred just stated that he didn't usually eat two? Perhaps it was linked to what they had spoken of earlier, he mused, but he couldn't think how. Best not to mention it, really, if he couldn't work out what he'd say. Instead, he got to work on his second burger. "How long will these be cooking?" He asked lightly, tilting his head a little in subconscious imitation of his companion.

Penny blinked at Vodka, tilting her head slightly before she gave the black feline's muzzle a light lick and climbed off, batting at him in return. She let out a soft meow, purring softly after a moment to assure she wasn't actually attacked the other feline. She was merely intending to play.

Alfred nodded in response to Ivan's statement about their fluffy friends, smiling lightly. "They certainly are," he murmured before he blinked a moment. "You know I actually never really bothered timing it. I always just kind of stood in here and waited until they were done," he responded, looking up at Ivan with a sheepish smile before he moved to set up his chosen method of cooking them; grilling them on a George Foreman that he'd made darn sure was big enough to handle his stuffed burgers. He plugged it in and set it carefully to the side before he smiled at Ivan. "Here, you can go ahead and do yours first. It's usually faster using this since it does both sides at once," he told him, moving now to lean against the counter out of the way.

Vodka was relieved to find that the queen was indeed only playing, and sprang up upon being released. Emitting a rumbling purr of his own, he bounced towards her tail, batting at the temptingly fluffy appendage. It had been too long since he'd been able to play this way with another cat - those he'd met while a vagrant had not been so lighthearted.

"Mmm, I think they might be friends now~" Ivan agreed, pleased by this development - he had been a little concerned about potential territorial disputes before this interaction. It looked a lot more as though the kitties were going to get along than fight, with this kind of scene playing out. That was good. "Hmm? Is that so? Ahh, well, I suppose that it would be easy to tell with grilling." He responded, peering over at the ob
ject that Alfred had just given power. Tentatively, unsure if there was a best spot to put things, he placed his patties on the grill. Then, he examined the device in search of what to do next. After a moment, he worked out what he was doing, and where the on-switch was, and he set it going. "Spasiba~ Oh, it is beginning to smell nice, da?" He replied happily, eagerly anticipating the flavour.

Penny reached out with a paw to bat at Vodka in return, soon ending up on her haunches use use both paws. She balanced like that rather easily, ears perked towards the tomcat as she meowed at him once again.

Alfred nodded, chuckling a little bit before he nestled up to Ivan. "They really do seem like they're getting along. I'm glad," he said gently. He turned to look up at his boyfriend, nodding again. "Honestly II don't think I could ever get tired of smelling burgers cooking," he responded with a smile. "My mom used to make them for me a lot. I'm pretty sure at one point it was all she could get me to eat. Hamburgers and sometimes milkshakes or some kind of soda," he murmured, chuckling softly. "For the life of me I can't remember why that was all I'd eat, either. And my mom never told me once I'd forgotten."

Vodka bopped Penny lightly on the nose, when she sat up on her haunches, as this had made her tail a less prominent target. Then, skittering lightly back, he invited her to chase him, his own tail caused to wave by his motion.

And I do not think that I could ever tire of you coming so close to me. Ivan thought, smiling absently as Alfred drew closer in. Such contact was quite lovely, as far as the Russian was concerned, and he was beginning to wonder how he had ever done without it. Surely, he must have been only half alive, if he had found the other half of his heart waiting for him here. "Is that so? Well, I have heard that children often go through phases... There was a time when I would eat anything that was put upon my plate, regardless of its nature, and squirrel some away as though I were, well, a squirrel. I do not know why I did that, but it got me into trouble a few times." Ivan responded, finding the idea of his boyfriend consuming that kind of diet... somehow less surprising than he would have guessed. Perplexed, he voiced this impression, wondering whether it might be another of those odd moments of not-quite memory. The burgers were not quite ready yet, so he doubted they'd burn while he asked.

Penny immediately dropped to all fours and followed after Vodka, taking up the challenge involved in chasing after another cat.

Alfred giggled softly, grinning up at Ivan. "What's 'squirrel' in Russian?" he asked, grinning rather mischievously. He might possibly have a new little nickname for the large, adorable man. When the topic involving his hamburgers was brought up he blinked. "You know, that might actually explain it now that I really think about it," he said, wrapping his arms around one of Ivan's and linking their fingers together subconsciously. "Or at least the fact that I could eat them for every meal..and maybe has to do with the fact that I eat the biggest ones I can get," he chuckled before nuzzling his boyfriend's shoulder.

((Aw man Alfred seeing Iggy will probably jumpstart his emotions because his mind will immediately place him in the Revolutionary War dream he had))

Ivan looked up briefly when he noticed that Vodka was skittering out of the kitchen, but he returned his attention to Alfred when he noticed that it all seemed to be in fun. "Ahh, is byelka, though diminutive is byelochka - dear little squirrel, I think would be translation..." He responded, trying to interpret the ex
pression adorning his boyfriend's features. It was one of mischief, he saw, and contemplating something... Perhaps he was to be a squirrel as well as a kitten? He still preferred the kitten, feeling himself more similar to that animal, but he felt somewhat flattered by the notion that Alfred might want to compare him to yet another sweet little creature. "Ah, if it does, then does that mean that it was all you were eating in a past life, or would that appearance be down to a young one's perception?" He murmured, when Alfred responded to his query. He felt himself flutter inside again when his arm was claimed, and he gladly entwined his fingers with the American's, smiling softly but most definitely delightedly. "I suppose that it must always have been your favourite, da?" He added, his smile becoming wider when he felt Alfred nuzzling him - which seemed to send waves of warm fuzzy feelings rippling through him. What does my habit of childhood have to tell me?

((Most probably... It'll probably end in tears, poor dear - but he'd definitely get a hug from Ivan out of it.))

"Byelochka?" Alfred repeated, cocking his head a little bit. He already subconsciously knew how to say Kotenok and ya tebya lyublu, and of course Vanya and Ivan and spasiba were pretty much taught to him, but outside of those important little tidbits he'd apparently deemed important enough to remember across lifetimes and then the ones he'd been taught, he didn't...really quite have too much of a handle on Russian. "And honestly, it may have just been how I mentally interpreted it when I was a kid since I grew out of it," he murmured, shrugging. "I mean despite how unhealthily I may eat I work out like a freaking champion when I go the gym, so I don't normally gain too much," he murmured softly. "I'm at a pretty healthy weight right now, though it even baffles me sometimes," he added with a laugh.

"Da that is right - you seem to be good with picking up the way of saying things~" Ivan responded cheerily, noting Alfred's rather cute head-tilt. It seemed that not everything was immediately apparent to the American, despite previous displays of understanding, but teaching new words to his best friend/sweetheart was quite fun, so he was not disappointed. "You are probably right - myself, I stopped hoarding food after a while..." He added, a momentary flicker of puzzlement and something less identifiable crossing his features as he recalled a feeling of anxiety, and a knot of hunger in his middle. "I think... I may have been afraid that it would run out..." He murmured, before shaking himself out of it in order to listen to Alfred. "I suppose you may have an excellent metabolism." He postulated, "The gym? Do you often go there?" He asked, his features taking on a slightly hopeful cast as he smiled. That was something to hope for seeing, he was sure. "Ahh, I think that my burgers may be done." He added, with a glance towards the food contraption.

Alfred frowned a little bit before he turned to place a soft, rather loving kiss to the cheek, followed by one to the lips as he gently detached from Ivan to lean forward and push the lid open on the grill, smiling a little bit after taking a moment to assess the burgers. "They are indeed!" he responded, reaching up to pull out a plate. "And I usually go on my days off but I used this one to show you around and sit rather happily in a field of sunflowers, as well as become your boyfriend, so honestly I think today was more productive than most days at the gym I've had," he said with a grin, setting a plate down for Ivan and scooting over the buns. "Do you want anything to put on them or is what you filled them with enough?" he questioned curiously, as he pulled open the fridge and doubled over to start digging through it.

((Btw where are you from? ovo -curious-))

((I'm originally from Wales, actually, but I'm living in the South of England at the moment. What about you?))

Ivan felt a tiny pang of guilt when he saw Alfred's features crumple in a little frown, but he also felt quite gratified by the immediate concern he could see. That, and the rather delightful kisses he was given shortly afterwards. He could feel his face warming up in response to the tenderness it had been shown, and he smiled once again. He was glad to hear that his food was indeed ready, and he listened to what Alfred had to say as the removal of his patties from the grill was taking place. "Ahh, well, I would certainly call it productive~ I cannot recall such a wonderful day as this, and I - ahh, I cannot find the words." He responded, pinking a little in reaction to the recollection of the day, the reminder that he now had a wonderful new boyfriend, and his imaginings of Alfred exercising. He had little knowledge of the insides of gyms besides what he had seen on television, but he thought that it would probably be a nice sight. "Ahh, maybe some cheese, but I do not think this would be needing much else." He answered, smiling.

((I'm born and raised American :D So I guess it's just as well that I'm playing Alfie xD))

Alfred nodded and pulled out a couple pieces of cheese and pulled back to shut the fridge door, grinning at the Russian as he offered out the cheese slices. "You can go on to the couch if you want to once you've gotten the burgers on buns and the cheese on them," he told him with a smile. "I'll be in there once mine are all done," he told him, leaning against the other briefly. "It shouldn't take too long, since it's still pretty hot," he told him as he moved to place his patties onto the grill, closing the lid on top of them. "As for going to the gym, if you'd really want to go I have a day off next Saturday," he said, turning to look back at Ivan with a smile. He wasn't completely sure Ivan would like what he saw, but hey, he seemed pretty eager to go, if not only to watch Alfred 'work out like a freakin' champion' as he'd said.

((Yeah, it does make sense~ X 3> ))

“Ah, spasiba.” Came the grateful response, as Ivan accepted the cheese and set about compiling his burgers. The brief moment of renewed contact seemed like an assurance, as though to tell him that they would soon be snug once again, and he was glad of it. “That sounds as though to be fun~” Ivan replied, “Perhaps I would be trying out some of the thingies also? I am not sure what would be there, but I think treadmills could be fun.” He added, not wishing it to seem as though his only motivation was to watch Alfred, for all that it was definitely a driving factor. He still had his curiosity, after all. He smiled at the American, brushing against him lightly as he carried his meal towards the couch. He had neglected to get himself a drink, but he figured that he could deal with that later. Settling himself down, Ivan began to munch, watching their cats at play. Would Alfred wish to show him more movies, talk with him, or simply eat in companionable silence? He didn't know, but he somehow doubted that it would be that last one.

Alfred smiled. "We'll see what all we can do then," he told him before the Russian left the kitchen, leaving him to focus on his burgers. While they cooked he trotted over to the fridge again, only to pause and poke his head out of the kitchen and into the living room. "What would you like to drink?" he asked, blinking once. They still had plenty of things to choose from in the way of drinks so he figured asking him what he wanted out of it would be a good idea as opposed to just showing up with something he might not like. He was almost positive they still had cola, so they could always have that to drink along with their burgers. He smiled a bit as another thought crossed his mind. They were both already so comfortable and interested with the other's culture, Alfred being interested in the food at first of course. But their interests had immediately melded them together, treated them like magnets drawn to one another. It was nice, really, feeling complete and loved after not realizing for newly twenty-one years that this was what he was missing.

"Hmm?" Ivan responded, looking up as he saw Alfred peering round the door frame to ask him a question. "Ahh, blackcurrant squash, if you would not mind." He answered, recalling that they had obtained some during their shopping trip the previous day. "Not too strong, da? It will make me more thirsty if the cordial is over a finger-width in height." He clarified, hoping that he was not being too finicky or unclear. While he was not averse to cola, it was something of a 'sometimes drink' for him, and he would not immediately think of it when it came to ordinary meals. He'd had soda the previous evening, true, but that had been his first meal with Alfred, so it had not been all that ordinary. He hummed contentedly to himself as he mused over the way that they had meshed so well, better than he had thought to expect, and he wondered once again about what Alfred had suggested earlier. It did seem as though the tracks they were running down had already been laid and waiting for them, upon further contemplation - an easier blend than he'd thought possible... What could that mean for them? He'd never thought seriously about the notion of reincarnation before, but this certainly bore consideration. What if it was true? Who could they have once been? Deciding that it was too much of a mystery to wrestle with for now, Ivan started on his second burger, having finished his first.

((I had to google blackcurrant squash lol))

Alfred nodded and turned to head into the kitchen again, first finishing up his burgers before he got the drinks. He'd gotten soda for himself, and by then he'd trained himself to carry lots of food-related items at once so he wandered into the living room and set their drinks down without any hassle, really. Then he settled down on the couch, looking up at Ivan with a smile. "Should we watch some more movies or did you want to do something else?" he asked curiously, reaching out for one of his burgers so he could start eating now. "Because I mean I'm pretty much up for anything you'd want to do," he said after swallowing what he'd bitten off, licking his lips to clear any juices from them.

((You did? Sorry about that... Is it less prevalent in the USA?))

Ivan was a little taken aback to see Alfred coming in carrying everything at once, and his eyes widened slightly in concern. He was about to offer his assistance, feeling a little guilty for leaving the matter of his drink to the bubbly American, but then Alfred managed to set both drinks down without any problems. "Spasiba, Alfya moi." He responded, taking hold of his squash in one hand. "I - ahh, I do not know... I liked watching movies with you last night, so I would be fine with that, but I would also be happy to do other things." He replied, leaning slightly in to Alfred's presence beside him - just as the other had been doing not long before. "Are there any movies that you would like to show me? Ahh, I hope that my not being decisive in this is not a problem, but I do not think I would mind, whatever we decided upon - it would be with you, da?" He added, looking across at the blond's ex
pression. He is cute when he licks his lips... Ivan mused, reminding himself that it would be a little odd to kiss him while he was trying to eat. Then again, he is always cute~ He added to himself, taking another bite out of his own burger, then a sip from his drink - which he then set down. "Ohh, perhaps not one that is as sad as that part of the Captain America film that you showed to me, da?" He concluded, an afterthought prodding him. He didn't really want his heartstrings tugged again right now, not like that.
