Asteri looked a bit shocked. "Well, it sounds as if you have had quite a hard time. I am so envious of those people. They have no clue about the world all around them. They don't see it like we do. I remember the day I got this ability. That changed everything. My parents thought I was crazy. They left a few days ago. They said it would be forever." She sighed, but didnt really care. They had done nothing for her. Asteri looked over at Dimitri. "And what about relationships? Has that been possible for you? I had one boyfriend.. he got a little creeped out after a while. Then the ghosts got worse after we broke up, and I was hospitilized again. That was the seventh time." She sighed again, and looked at her feet as she walked along side Dimitri.

Dimitri hid a small laugh at the relationship part. "Im sorry about your family, most people just dont understand that some of us are special. "He growled the word special, really hating it. "My father was never around, so mom and raised me and Faythe. Then she died a few years ago of cancer and Faythe hung herself a few days later. Said something about not able to live alone with a mentally unstable older brother." He scoffed. I never said that! Faythe snarled. I said I could not take moms death and the thought of losing you next to what ever your problem was. "Same difference." He muttered in a half sulk. "Sometimes its better without having a family to tie you down and breath down your neck almost worst then a ghost." He sighed. "As for relationships." He made a disgruntled face. "I'v never had a girlfriend, never really wanted one, even before they started appearing. Dont know, guess other things were more important." He smirked slightly. "Just stay out of the doctors paths."

Asteri got a slight laugh."Doctors shouldn't be allowed to deal with the paranormal." She bumped into Dimirtri from watching her feet, "I'm sorry, I'm such a klutz." She blushed and giggled, trying not to let her emotions run wild again. These chemicals even put her happiness to an extreme. "Yes, relationships dont really work well. Although, I have always wondered what it would be like to be with someone who understood.. and I know how it sounds, dont think i'm making a move on you so quick." She giggled again. She sounded like a wreck. Checkmate sat silently on her shoulder, but was sniffing at Dimitri. Asteri coughed, that ferrett was always being curious about something.

Dimitri could not help but laugh this time, and steadied her with a hand on her shoulder. Taking a courteous step back, he glanced at Checkmate, wondering if petting him would earn him a bite. "I wasn't thinking anything of the sort, except I agree. Relationships are harsh if your supposed to be making conversation then randomly yelling shut up." He flinched the thought. "Being slapped for not even talking to your girlfriend or boyfriend," He added. "Is not probably pleasant."

Asteri giggled, "Just remembering the way Derek treated me, I'm sure you can imagine how that went. He would freak out over me talking to a spirit. He was all, thats so weird.. dont talk to it. and the spirit would get furious and throw something at him. It was amusing." She smiled while she walked, no matter how much she had been hurt by his non-acceptence, she was glad to say that she got that little bit of entertainment out of it. Asteri had been very torn up for a long time, but she had been okay for a long time too. "Tell me more about yourself." She smiled up at him.

Dimitri grinned the the thought of a guy getting cracked in the head by a vase or something, like that out of thin air. "Thats the way to go about it, it might be bad buy, hey, theres always something good out of it." He blinked the the question thought, unsure how to really answer it. "Theres not much else to tell, im a fairly boring person except that I see the dead." He cringed at the thought. "Yourself? What else should I know about you?"

Asteri smiled, "Well, I have been hospitalized eighteen times, injected 271 times, hope to have a normal child one day, and I aspire to have lots of horses and a little house in the mountains. I dont want to have kids until i'm at least thirty, so I have time to enjoy my marriage. I know that this is personal stuff, but who else am I gonna tell? I've given all of this away to several spirits." she laughed, it was pathetic when the only things you had to talk to were evil spirits. "The hospitilation has been hell. nobody ever sticks around me long. They inject me until it wouldnt be healthy anymore and send me away. I have lived in seven different states." She giggled a bit, knowing this would have to be the last place she lived until she settled down. Or she would go nuts... even more nuts.

Dimitri looked at her curiously. "You've got a lot of dreams, just keep them in mind if pressure gets to much." He told her seriously. He could remember he used to have dreams, to someday join the army and prosper, someday find the right person to settle down with. But all of them came crashing down as soon as his first spirit showed up. "That person is out there for you somewhere, you've just got to find them." He told her gently.

"You will find somebody too, there are even soulmates for us freaks." She laughed and bumped into his side playfully. This was a different side of Asteri. She wasnt usually this happy. Knowing somebody else was going through this too, made it alot easier, and made her feel okay. She hoped that she helped by just existing in some way for Dimitri too. Asteri looked over at him, "Where are we going anyway? We have been walking for a while." She cracked her neck, and looked around. She really had no idea where they were. Drat those hospitals.

Dimitri glanced up at the sky to determine how long they had till night-fall. "There is no one out there for me, nor do I want there to be. At least not for a long while." He told her, and gave her a playful shove back his one hand. Sometimes it was a great advantage to have hight and muscle compared to a girl. "We're not to far away, im renting a small condo on the edge of town with two rooms and all the needs. Dont ask how im paying for it." He grumbled the last part, unsure how'd she feel to be around someone who was not always on the legal side of the law. He mentally sweat-dropped at the thought. "Here we are." He pointed to a small complex of houses that were small but tidy.

She laughed, "I know the feeling of not wanting to be asked.. I wont ask." She smiled, and looked on to the houses that they came to. "They're cute." She was quiet but followed him up to the house, and looked around the yards, as if taking in the sight of an inspiring peice of art. "It's been too long since i've seen a home. A real one." She sighed, and became a bit quiet, trying to calm down from the previous episodes with the ghosts. One of them was lurking over her shoulder, but this one hadnt been really bothering her. He was just nosey. No big deal. She gave a deep breath, and looked at Dimitri as if not really knowing what to do with herself.

Dimitri noticed the ghost, but it was faint for his eyes only a black like speck really. Those were the ones he really did not like, the dark ones because of their cold auroras and tendency to be vicious. He scowled at it and walked through the yards, keeping his head down as some of the neighbors gave him curious, cautious, and in some cases horrified looks. Why should they not? He was cold, mysterious, and now bringing home a young girl. How bias of them. He scoffed and opened the locked door of his house, flipping on the light to show white walls, no pictures, a small TV on a side wall and a few pieces of furniture. "Its not much, but is probably better then the hospital." Shivering at the thought of the dank place, he walked into the kitchen to see what he could scrounge. "The first room down the hallway on the left is the guest room, you can have it. The last door on the right is the bathroom and the other is my room, dont go in there." He diddnt figure she would, but just in case he liked some privacy.

"I can be out soon enough I believe, I have to get used to normal life.. again. And get a job to save up some money. But I appreciate the hospitality. By the way.. can we paint in here? Just in the guest room." She smiled at him. The place was comfy, well, more comfortable then the hospital. She could only snese a few spirits, and even those could be next door. She didnt doubt that this was a quiet place. She hoped she wouldnt attract too many of the pesky things to someone elses house. That would be incredibly emberas.sing.

Dimitri shrugged, walked towards his own room. "You can stay as long as you like, until you get a place of your own anyway. As for painting, I dont mind." He opened the door to his room and plopped onto his own bed, listening to some of the spirits bicker next door. You do realize that they will come after her just as they did you? He sighed and covered his head with a pillow, trying to drown out Faythe's voice. Dont ignore me just because you dont want to hear the ugly truth. When they find her, they'll find you and its killing two birds with one stone. Glaring at his sister, he decided to answer just to shut her up. "Then what do you expect me to do, thrown her out on the streets?" He growled. I did not say that, but thats a idea. She was suddenly glad things could not hurt her or what ever he threw at her would have left a bruise. Jeesh, kill me. Well, you could always move cities again? She suggested.

Leianna stepped into her own room, the injections had worn off now, but she felt tired, as she usually had when undergoing treatments. She layed down and allowed herself to fall asleep.

No..No..Not again. I can see all the spirits. They are staring at me and I can’t get away from their eyes. They laugh at me. It isn’t my fault. I never wanted this. Just go away. I want to scream, I NEED to scream, but no words come out. I can’t run either. It feels like my feet are glued to the cement. I stop struggling and take in my surroundings. The breeze is sweeping my hair into my face, and I can see the leaves fall from the trees, they are golden from the fall, and a soft lullaby is playing. I walk, I can move when I’m not afraid. Now I am just curious. I come to my old house, and step inside, the lullaby gets louder. I can see my mother at my crib. An evil spirit hovers over her, I think I understand now. She was afraid for me. My room is filled with the ghosts. I couldn’t see them yet, I began when I was young, but not this young. They had always haunted me. I began to cry, I hadn’t known how horribly haunted my life had been. My mother turned around and looked at me, but it was not her face, I screamed when I saw her, I cant even describe what I see. It will haunt me forever this I am sure of.

Dimitri sighed as Faythe kept on pacing around the room, a worried look plastered on her face. Well, at least he was fairly sure she was pacing, if thats what you could call floating back and forth. "Somethings on your mind." He told her gently, seeing the sister he loved more then the spirit she had become. Im not sure, but evil spirits are all around the girl, and for some reason they seem to be getting thicker. Im not sure what it means, but I think it really hurts her. She mumbled, green eyes scanning the room. "Well, for now we can do nothing until she trusts us. So just keep your eyes open would ya?" She scowled but nodded none-the-less nodded.

((I cannot get on the computer for the weekend, sorry.))

Asteri woke up in a cold sweat. she looked over at the clock... Only a few minutes had pa.ssed, and she couldnt take it. She ran to Dimitri's door, she had to learn what he knew. He was her only hope. and part of her liked it, something about him had made her feel okay about being what she was, but she wanted to control it. Like he could. She had never been like this, she had never so much wanted to be like another person. Dimitri knew what it was like, even if he wasnt exactly how she was. She could only see the evil ones.. She hated them so. But not all of them, some of them werent so evil. The good ones even tried to contact her sometimes, but they could never get through. She covered her ears as she listened to the ones next door bicker. They always got horribly mean when they fought. She hated it.

Faythe flicked her eyes towards the door, a knowing ex
pression on her face. Nodding in undestanding, he knew that now was the time to start gaining the girls trust. He would not admit it, even to himself, that having someone with the same sense as he did was comforting. It was refreshing to know he was not going crazy and that he could hopfully help someone else. Opening the door he smiled sadly down at Asteri and motioned her inside. "et me guess, you want to learn to somwhat control the seeing of the spirits andhow much you can acually hear?" He asked gently, sitting on the bed. He nodded towards the other side of the bed, letting her know she could sit if she wanted.

Asteri ran over to the bad and sat beside him, her mind going in a million different directions. She layed her head on his lap, not so much in a romantic way, just trying to feel close to another human being. The spirits were going to destroy her. "Please... please." She looked up at him, the fighting got worse as time went on, she just couldnt handle it. Each day the spirits attacked her worse, now that she had had this ability for so many years, she was reaching the breaking point. The fact was, she was surprised it had taken this long, and she knew she was in luck to have found Dimitri at such a time. He would be her only hope. She almost liked the thought of needing him.

Blinking sypmathetically down at the distraught girl, he tried to remember what his own teacher had taughthim. He could recall the man said something about a barrier between your emotions and the spirits. The ghosts seemed to feed off of someone fearing them, so he figured te first step was to calm her mind, make her concetrate on somethig other then the spirits. "Alright, you first need to calm your mind or this wont work. It will be hard, but if you can sort through your thoughts then you can start to place a barrier between yourself and the spirits." He sighed and remembered his master words, something he still did to this day. "Find a happy place in your mind and think your there, just focus on nothing but it. Its sounds, its smell, even the feel of diffrent objects around you. It can be from a memory of somewhere you want to go."
