No idea huh?

Erea scratched her head. But that didn't stop Yuuta from beaming at her. She swore his smile must be the sun or something it was so bright. With a faint nod, she scratched into the dirt.

"Want to come home with me? I'll keep you safe until you can regain some of your memories."

Giving him a place to stay would help get his memories back.

Yuuta read the words she wrote and nodded enthusiastically, still grinning. He rose to his feet, only a bit wobbly. He released his hand from the tree that was supporting him, and smiled widely at his feat. Taking his first step, finally getting used to moving his feet. He could keep his balance now.

He watched the woman's hands, suddenly fascinated by them. For some reason he felt the urge to reach out to them. While watching the people pass by previously, he noticed some smaller people holding hands with taller ones. Curiously, the boy stuck out his hand to grasp the young lady's hand, holding it gently.

Yuuta stared up at her, searching for some sign that what he did was alright.

Erea rose when he did, discarding the stick she wrote with and letting her foot slide across their words so that nobody knew they were here. Her head tilted to one side, briefly wondering how she'd get him into her apartment with raising curiosity from her over friendly - nosy - neighbors. She sighed slightly before she felt something touch her hand.

She froze slightly, before realizing it was Yuuta. Glancing down at their joined hands and looking back up at the boy, she noticed that he was watching her for some sign that this gesture was okay. Blinking light gray eyes, she felt a soft smile curve her lips.

Tugging on his hands gently, she tilted her head in a "this way" type of gesture. Time to go back home.

Yuuta giggled when she tilted her head, getting excited. He wondered what kind of place she was bringing him to. He was also curious as to what she wanted him to remember. The lady told him 'until you can regain some of your memories' but he couldn't fathom what he was lacking.

He shrugged the idea off, it didn't matter to him. If he happened to remember something that would be great, but he decided not to dwell on it. In the meantime, there was much to learn about life. He couldn't wait to discover the new things that seemed to surround the place.

After hearing his giggle, Erea shook her head slightly as a small smile played on her face. With another tug and a step, she led off to the side walk before moving in the opposite direction in which she was going before she met the strange boy.

They certainly attracted some stares, though, with a quick glare from Erea, they hurried on their way. A dark ex
pression of "yea, that's what I thought," followed soon after the person bolted. Though, she didn't dwell on it long as she quickly arrived at her apartment building.

Her rooms were located on the top floor. She had basically, and successfully, bought out the half she had started it and expanded. Now she had all the room she needed for herself, her hacking, and any guest that might visit.

Opening the door to the building, she waited until Yuuta was fully inside before leading him up a staircase. Even though the building only had four floors, it was still a workout. When they reached the fourth floor and walked down the long hallway towards her door, Erea let go off Yuuta's hand briefly so she could unlock and open her domain.

Then, she let him inside.

Even though Yuuta was used to walking by now, when he approached the stairs he had some trouble climbing them. Although, about halfway up, he was able to walk up them without hesitation. It appeared his ability to adapt was improving.

The boy followed Erea inside, looking at the interior of her home. He started to explore the place, examining every tiny ob
ject he found. Then he stopped abruptly.

Yuuta had found a rectangular objected that opened up one direction. Inside were lines of text, some words he recognized and others he didn't. The ti
tle read Dictionary, a word he was unfamiliar with. Mystified, the boy sat down on the floor and rapidly flipped through the pages, memorizing the words silently, a smile plastered to his face.

Erea noticed that Yuuta had found her Dictionary and had started leafing through it with a smile plastered on his face. She shook her head at his antics and moved into the kitchen. Taking a glass out of one of the cabinets, she filled it half-way with some water and moved back over to the boy, who was still mesmerized by the words in the dictionary.

She placed the glass of water on the short coffee table he was close to before moving over to one window and opening it. Within seconds Phantom lit down on the window frame, visible and shiny, and nuzzled his head against her shoulder.

Yuuta's memorization was interrupted when Erea placed the glass of water next to him. He paused, utterly confused with the ob
ject. The boy lifted the glass  with both hands and began to examine it, peering inside. He dipped a finger inside to touch the water and flinched as it grazed the water. The glass slipping from his hands, crashing on the floor.

Yuuta stared in shock at the broken glass and the water spilling from it. The wet sensation was unlike anything he ever felt. The boy's feet were now soaked with the liquid and he hurriedly tried to pick up the shards of glass. The glass tore into his skin and blood flowed down his hands. The red liquid giving him a flashback to the splinter incident.

Yuuta bit his lip to keep himself from crying from the pain. He created this mess and he was determined to clean it up. There was a pain in his chest he couldn't recognize. It was different from the other feelings he had experienced. It was guilt.

Upon hearing breaking glass, Erea turned around to see Yuuta attempt to clean up the broken shards. With a faint sigh, she walked over and knelt down opposite him to help clean up the sharp pieces of glass. For her, she held them loosely in her hands so the points brushed against her skin instead of slicing them.

Erea collected the shards Yuuta had in his when she picked up the majority and pulled him to his feet by his lower arm. Her thumb rubbed over his arm in a soothing manor as she led him to a couch and gently pushing him down on it.

Then, she threw away the glass shards.

Phantom had flew over as Erea moved and opened his beak to shine an intense UV light on the water puddle. Within a few moments, the water evaporated leaving only the blood droplets. The mechanical bird moved out of the way as Erea came back with a rag and some bleach to clean up the rest of the mess.

Yuuta's stared at the woman apologetically. He tried to express his feelings but he was unable to speak and he couldn't find anything to write with. He glanced around the room, trying to find something to help him speak with her.

The boy felt completely helpless and began to pout to himself. He wanted Erea to understand him, but without a stick and the ground he didn't know of a way to communicate with her. He opened and closed his mouth, trying to catch her attention. Yuuta wanted her to know he had something to say. He thought if she knew, she might know of a way to help him speak.

The bird cocked his head at Yuuta, metallic feathers spreading further down his neck. Glowing red mechanical eyes blinked once before Phantom returned his attention to his Mistress, who had just finished cleaning up the blood.

"The boy wishes to say something, but doesn't have anything to write with," the AI said.

Erea nodded once. When the rag was in the laundry bin and the bleach was back where it should be, she picked up a notebook lying around and a pen. Clicking it open, she sat down next to Yuuta.

"Don't worry, Yuuta. Its not your fault," she wrote on the paper.

The boy grabbed the notebook and pen and began writing. He held the pen awkwardly, not used to the tiny size, and wrote largely. The size in his words varying.

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make a mess.

Yuuta smiled apologetically and continued to write.

Do you mind if I keep the writing materials? I cannot speak nor understand your language.

He wanted to continue to talk to her like this. Since he was unable to communicate using any other means, Yuuta knew it was inconvenient but he enjoyed writing with her. He had so much to ask her, so much he wanted to know.

Erea gently took back the pen and the notebook as she wanted to respond in kind. Holding the pen easily in her hand, she wrote;

"Its fine. Just be more careful next time, okay?

And, you can keep the pen and paper. I have more lying around somewhere. I won't miss these two too much."

At the end of what she wrote, she handed the two back to Yuuta as a smile curved her lips.

Yuuta held the materials close to his chest and returned the smile. He stayed that way for a moment, then he remembered the book of words and definitions and continued to leaf through the many pages.

The boy knew if he could contain the knowledge in the book then he would be able to communicate with people better. He quickly scanned the pages, and in about five minutes he was done. He closed the book and his eyes, going over the information in his mind. He was able to absorb the content.

He opened his eyes, an awakened knowledge appeared in them. A wisdom deeper than any human could obtain. Along with the words, more knowledge flowed through him. Images appeared in his mind to explain the words, allowing him to grasp the full concept of the language.

Although he was still unable to understand speech, he had almost fully grasped the written language.
