There was a massive flash of lightning and a huge strike of thunder. The wind was picking up now, blowing the old tree outside the small into the wall. The rain pounded on the old tin roof.

The wind blew open the front door of the house, but it shut again. The tree tapped against the side of the house again, the quick routine thudding surprisingly loud.

"It might be a home invasion by storm pixies though." Fleco said, beginning to get a bit edgy himself. "Do you smell anything new?"
Holly shook her head, her frown deepening as she did. "The storm-smell would mask anything weaker than fox-stink anyway."
Fleco took another sip of his coffee. "So we could be surrounded by burgling storm pixies with active cammo and not know?"
"Yes...." Holly said slowly, giving him a disappointed look.
"I almost hope I've jinxed that." Fleco laughed.

There was a flash of lightning and another thunder crack, the huge spark of electricity casting eerie shadows on the wall of the kitchen. Then, to make matters worse, the tree was blown into the house a third time, but this time one of the branches appeared to go through a window, exploding glass inwards. The storm seemed to decrease in intensity, however.

The needle-like device pricked the back of Holly's neck without so much as a little bit of pain, and then within seconds the tranquilizer would have put her to sleep. (Are Fleco and Holly the only ones home?)
