My lips stretched to a crooked grin. Good, I think I'd feel most comfortable at my apartment anyways. I told her the address of the apartment complex, and the number of my apartment so she'd be able to find her way in.

"Sure." She purred into the phone.
It was six-thirty-six, almost seven. Taking advantage of her time she turned on the light to her vanity and pulled four containers out of it's drawers - a medium-sized one filled with a metallic teal liquid, a smaller elongated one filled with a metallic black liquid, a narrow tube filled with a clear liquid, and two round containers, one holding a reddish powder and other containing a black and violet mixture that was flecked with tiny pink sparkles. "Oh, more one more thing." She smiled as she pulled out a narrow, medium sized dusting brush. Her eyes darted from the mirror to the clock while she went about her usual "going out" routine. A dash of powder here, a smooth outline of the eyeliner framing her eye, two swift strikes from her mascara, a quick brush of eyeshadow above and along the lid of her eye, all ending with a quick pat of blush on each of her cheeks.
Pleased with her work she gave herself a quick smile, flicked off the light, grabbed her keys from her dresser, and made her way to her car.

After hanging up the phone, I looked at the time. She'd be here soon and I slapped my face with my palm. I hadn't asked what she'd want to eat! I mean, I could always do the easy thing and order pizza but I didn't know if she was the type to expect a romantic dinner like Katie. I didn't mind doing it, but I wouldn't if she didn't need it.
I chose to just clean up around the apartment, planning to make dinner once she comes so I knew what she was in the mood for. As I cleaned, though, my eyes darted to the clock every time I passed, every second or so, my feet would stop to see if I heard someone knock at the door. I was never this anxious to see Katie. I guess it was because Ashley - seemed - more easy going.

It was six-fifty-seven.
A black Mercedes pulled into the driveway. "Hopefully I look okay." She looked back into the mirror, adjusted her jewelry, and gave her hair one quick tousle to make sure it was ready for tonight.
It was six-fifty-nine. She flashed her car a smirk and threw on her favorite black and white checkered skater hat before making her way to the door.
"Well, this should be it." After a quick glance into her pocket mirror and one last hair tousle she knocked on the door. "Travis, are you there?"

I literally jumped from where I stood when I finally heard the door knock. I was probably triple the size of her, I had nothing to be scared of - other then being completely rejected. Swallowing, I ran a hand through my black hair, and checked myself in the full body mirror in my bedroom. I was wearing a teal button down shirt, that clung to my broad chest like it was second skin. I couldn't really help that, I was a big guy. I wore baggy jeans and no shoes. I felt I probably should slip some on, but I was too busy worrying about answering the door before she walked away that I didn't grab any.
Opening the door, my green eyes brightened at seeing Ashley, though a more nervous smile came to my lips. "Hey. You look good."
I said, before opening the door fully for her to walk in as I added, "Come on in."

"Aw, thanks," The tealette smiled. "I could have honestly looked a lot better, but it's the best I can do for being in a hurry." She shrugged, closing the door behind her. Her black and red lace-up heels clicked against the hard floor as she made her way over to the nearest couch.
"Care to join me?" She asked, sitting down and crossing a leg over the other.

I closed the door behind her. Turning around, I stood still, watching her walk to the couch. Yeah, I liked the way she walked. "Sure." I said, wiping my palms on my thighs as I walked over and sank into the couch next to her. It was never this hard to look at Katie's eyes, but I found myself having to look down so I wouldn't be tempted to look anywhere else.
"I didn't know what you would want for dinner, so I thought I'd wait until you came to figure something out."
I said, breaking the silence before finally looking back at her eyes.
"You in the mood for anything in particular?"

"Oh, I'm not really hungry." She sighed and ran a nail down one of her smooth, slender legs. "But, perhaps you can get me a drink?" She ended her sentence with a wink, signaling that a "drink" wasn't meant to be taken as your regular tea or water suggestion.

Once again, I swallowed as she ran a finger down one of her legs. My breathing hitched, and I stood up to keep myself from touching them. "A drink it is."
I said more smoothly then I thought I could, before I disappeared to the kitchen. I didn't keep anything real strong at my apartment, but I always had a bottle of wine - just in case spontaneous dates like this happened. Grabbing the bottle, and two glasses, I walked back to the living room. I went on my knees to be closer to eye level with the table as I opened the bottle and poured some wine in both glasses.
All I had to do was look in my peripheral vision to see her legs right next to me. Once again, I swallowed nervously. Don't look, don't look, don't look, don't look...
Letting out a shaky breath, I had to turn my head to hand her her glass of wine, purposely looking right at her face and no where else.

"Thanks." She smiled and ran her finger around the rim of the glass before taking it to her lips.
She knew exactly what she was doing - teasing him. Taunting him with her body until his shy little self was ready to burst. She did the exact same thing around Isaiah, only he wasn't shy at all and it usually only took a matter of minutes to bring him to his breaking point.
"...So.." She paused, bating her eyes lashes so he could get a good look at the tiny pink and teal flecks around her eyes.

I kept my eyes trained on her when she batted them. "So.."
I croaked out, repeating Ashley, before finally turning my eyes away and taking a big gulp of wine. I needed to loosen up or she'd be leaving because I'm such a bore. I licked my lips from the wine's excess before I stood up. I couldn't handle sitting next to her legs anymore so I sank into the couch next to her before taking another sip of the wine. Hopefully it'll loosen me up.
"How long have you worked at the cafe?"
Only for small talk really, and to keep my mind off other things. I layed my elbow on the edge of the couch, my fingers close enough to touch her hair or neck. I tore my gaze away to look back at her eyes, taking the thoughts away as well.

"Since I was fifteen." She took a minute to readjust the hat on her head. "I mainly work alone. I used to get a bit of help with the job, but something kind of happened to get them...let's say, laid off for a while." She chuckled, taking a sip of wine.
"It's quite an embarrassing story actually." She said, taking another sip.

"Finnnnne." The tealette sighed as she put down her glass.
"You remember my boyfriend, right? Wellllll....me and him kind of got caught in the supply closet. My boss was so enraged with his on-the-job behavior that she fired him. Actually," She paused to a take a sip. "he's not supposed to be in the café for a while, but he still stops in every Friday. He's never really been one for following authority." She said with a chuckle while lightly twirling the glass in her hand.

I pressed my lips together once she started the story to keep myself from breaking the promise of laughing. Well she was right when she said it was embarrassing. I wondered why she wasn't fired as well for getting it on with him in the closet but I didn't think that was my business. "Speaking of your boyfriend, does he know about you being here?"

"I told you you'd laugh!" She joked, smacking him lightly on an arm. The high-pitched squeakiness of her voice was a sure fire sign that she was still embarrassed, no matter how many times she's had to tell that story (and sometimes in great detail) to her friends.
"Oh, no." She said regaining some seriousness. "But I go out a lot, so he probably just thinks I'm out at a party or etc." Her shoulders shrugged as she took another sip.

The smile was still on my lips, even if I felt uncomfortable with her boyfriend not knowing. Obviously, she shouldn't be here at all if she had a boyfriend and was coming behind his back - technically - but I've felt lonely the second I heard that Joe and Katie...
I shook the thoughts from my mind. "Do you do that often? Go on dates with out Isaiah knowing?"
I hated ruining the mood. And I hated ruining my chance at this girl liking me. But the last thing I needed was to get in a fight with this guy. Or hurting the guy all together because she was cheating on him.
"Sorry, it's just... Knowing that my fiancee just cheated on me, the last thing I need on my conscience is being apart of the same incident in a different position."
