Kevia groaned in annoyance when she heard Shasta's distinctive growl from the fields. Below her, a small dog cowered in fear, nearly wetting itself. She couldn't help but chuckle though, when a second dog barked, distracting Shasta, and the smaller mixed breed attacked visciously. It wasn't something that was good to laugh about, but the sight itself was kind of ironic. Shasta never saw it coming.

Nevertheless, the fight still had to be broken up. Kevia spotted a girl running towards the fighting pair, only just younger than Kevia herself, it seemed. As they pried their dogs apart, Shasta reeled back and bit Kevia on the shoulder. "Agh! Stupid dog," Kevia said, gritting her teeth, but not releasing her grip on the dog's collar. The younger girl ran off with her tiny dog in her arms, and Shasta growled, her tail wagging slightly as she stared after it. "Come on Shasta," Kevia growled, hooking the leather leash back onto the little metal clip on Shasta's collar, "It's time to go. The dog whined in dissapproval as Kevia examined her wound. "See what ya did?" she said, pointing at her shoulder and nudging her dog gently. "No biting."

Kourga paused, snapping back into reality. "Oh, hi there," he said, hoping she didn't notice his little fire trick earlier. "What can I do for you?" he asked, heading into the store, where the air conditioning was. He shivered and turned it up a little, wondering if his sense of hot and cold was warped in comparison to hers. He shrugged dismissively to himself, figuring that she probably wouldn't stay long anyways.

The inside of the shop was made of wood, and had an old west feel to it, making it seem out of place compared to the rest of the town. T-Shirts and souvenirs lined the walls, as if it were a tourist attraction. He sighed and sat back behind the register, just in case she didn't realisse that he was in charge of the store.

At first, I thought he didn't hear me. And, if he didn't I my as well just leave from embarressment. I got myself to say 'Hi', I wasn't going to do it again.
Finally, relief spread through me when I realized it was only a pause. Smiling shyly, I followed him inside. It was then that I finally responded.
"My mom wanted me to get T-shirts."
I said quietly with a shrug. I probably sounded so stupid. Saying my mother sent me here.
I studied the shop. It was deffinately not what she expected it to look like, but then again, maybe that was why it wasn't very popular around the small town.
She watched the guy go behind the counter, and felt kind of stupid since she didn't realize he was the one in charge here.
"How much are they?"
She added, keeping her back towards him so she wouldn't look so... Reserved.

It all happened so fast, I didn’t know how to react at first. I’ve been here many times, which meant I’ve seen many dogs fight dangerously.
That wasn’t what surprised me.
But, I haven’t seen an actual human wounded so painfully in months.
This may sound odd… But I was eager to have it happen right before my eyes. I had to do it – I had to heal her - when the girl wasn’t looking. She was staring at her wound. I couldn’t do it then. I couldn’t do it here.
I wasn’t a dangerous guy. But, I thought watching her – No. Not stalking – until she was completely unaware of the wound would be the best time to heal it.
I’d just have to follow her around the rest of the day without her seeing me. No big deal.
I did this one other time, and it worked out great. The girl was at the mall after dropping off her dog, and when she least expected it, her wound on their wrist from a dog was immediately healed.
I left the mall before I could see her shocked ex
pression at seeing the wound gone. I couldn’t risk her being suspicious of me.
I guessed this was why I had many friends, but none too close. They probably all felt that I was a little bit odd.
And, I was in a way. What normal person could heal a wound at any second?
Or enjoy seeing people hurt, because they want to heal them?
I wasn’t the bad guy. I just made bad things turn to good.

Kourga thought for a moment and shrugged, "They're ten dollars each, not cheap, I know, but they'll last a lifetime! Assuming that they don't spontaniously combust." He chuckled quietly at his own joke, and thought about setting one of the shirts aflame, just for fun, but he decided against it last minute and sat back in his chair. "Do you live around here? I don't think I've seen you before."

As Shasta proceeded to whine, Kevia figured it best to take the dog home before someone called the police, and then things got real sticky. She shuddered, remembering the last time Shasta nearly killed another dog, and the long court trial that ended up condemning her dog to a life on a leash. Oops.

The road back to Kevia's home wasn't a short one, and Kevia had to take at least ten minutes to tie her jacket firmly around the bite, grumbling angrily to Shasta the whole time, as if she would understand the various curses she said. There weren't many people to stare at her, though the few who were around threatened to come up to her and offer to call the hosptiol. Shasta's growl, in those cases, was the only thing that saved her from a lengthy explanation about how she was walking her dog near the woods and a wolf appeared. 

His response made her jaw drop dramatically as she looked back at him. Just as she was about to say how expensive that was, he said it for her.
With a chuckle, she replied,
"Well atleast it's not my money." With a shrug I grabbed three T-shirts that my mother seemed to like - and one for me, before going back to the guy behind the counter.
I put the shirts on the counter, and said,
"Uh, yeah. I'm just around the corner."
I didn't add the fact that I went to school with him, even though he said he's never seen me before. That would just embarress us both.

I felt odd at following her all the way home, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to heal her. Finally, I watched her wrap a jacket around her wound.
It took her a while, and I knew that this was when I should do it. I didn't want anyone being suspicous because they saw me hiding, and peaking through her window [ I didn't know if she was in the house or not. ].
I stuck my hand out just slightly and started the process of healing. My hand started glowing green, as I gave the girls body some of my energy. Just enough of mine to heal the wound immediately.
Glad that it worked out just as planned, I quickly got out of sight.
Well that was enough 'energy giving' today, since I was already feeling dizzy from the decrease in energy. With humans, it took more strength/ energy to heal things, then with animals.
I should just stick with animals.
With a moan by the headache that formed in my head,  I started for a walk home.
