Deak nodded and waited until she walked downstairs to go into his room. He thought for a while about how this would all work out, and what he would do once they got to the safe house. He wanted to be able to stay with Shadow, but he knew he couldn't force that girl into anything.
Jade sighed, partly with sadness. "I understand. I'd ask you to stay, but I know what your answer would be. I can't make you do anything you don't want." She looked to the ground and avoided eye contact. Jade looked up at Jason, and her eyes brightened. "But promise me you absolutely won't leave until we get to the halfway point, ok?" Jade asked with hope she can make the best out of the time she'll have left with him. She could end up changing his mind after all.

Shadow walked to the bottom and looked out the window before confronting Jason. She then reached her pocket and realized the note was missing. She widened her eyes and her world fell apart once again. "No.." she whispered, knowing she must have dropped it at the store. She looked back to Jason and Jade in the kitchen and was hoping they didnt notice her. Shadow couldnt risk losing the last connection she had with both her parents. She then opened the door slowly and quietly and sprinted to the town.
Jason smiled and stared straight into her soul, telling her he promised. "I promise. I wont leave until halfway." he then stuck out his pinkie towards her, like he did back in school.

((Sorry! I'm working on this huge project and I have to do a minute long animation.))
Jade smiled and held out her pinky, locking it with his. "Thank you. Now I can rest easy." She said only half joking. She was about to say something when Deak walked down.
"Hey where's Shadow?" He asked curiously. "Did she leave the house?" He asked, trying not to sound too worried. He looked around and saw that the front door was unlocked. "Damn it..." Deak muttered under his breath. "I'll be right back." He said leaving through the front door.
Jade nodded her head no. She thought she heard someone in the other room, but never looked to see who it was. She honestly thought it was just Mary.

The town was in perfect vision. Not as many zombies were there as much as yesterday. Shadow quickly and quietly navigated herself through the hoard successfully not being noticed. She then picked up a pistol with a few bullets in it left. She put her dagger on the strap and over her back and held the gun in front of her. Shadow finally made it to the step of the door, having to kill a few zombies to get here. Shadow walked inside and picke up the note tht was kicked behind the counter. She then kissed it and put it back in her pocket and went for the door. Just before she was about to walk away, she heard a faint voice. "P-Please, help me.." She turned her head to see a person lying behind a dumpster. Shadow studied the figure carefully and noticed walker bites. "Please, I don't want to die. Don't shoot me, nothing will happen. I know I can heal." The man pleaded. Shadow walked back slowly and aimed the gun for his head. "Wait! Plea-" BANG! (( Maybe Deak can come just in time to see Shadow aim the gun and shoot?))

Deak rushed past the zombies and kept Shadow in his sight. He didn't even take his time to focus on dodging the zombies. once he had caught up to her, Deak opened his mouth to speak, but shut it when he saw the guy with bites all over him. Noticing the guy couldn't be helped, he didn't nothing to stop Shadow from shooting him. Deak closed his eyes when the gun fired. HE opened them again and sighed. Putting one hand on Shadow's shoulder, he looked to the floor. "Promise me that if I get bitten you'll shoot me."
((Maybe Deak can later become a Zombie, but gets cured by... LOVE! Haha cheesy, Right? But sorta like in warm bodies?))

(( Lol it'd be kinda cool. But wouldnt that be like, ALL of the zombies could cure from love? Or do you want it to be like that?))
Shadow felt a hand on her shoulder and quickly turned the gun on the firgure, only to realize it was Deak. "Um, yea I will. Dont worry, I wont let you become one of them." she said, gestering to the dead man. Something else hit her, why did Deak come in the first place? She wasnt a little girl, she could take care of herself. "But, why are you here?! I can take care of myself!" She barked. But then a hoard of Walkers started to form, attracted to the sound. She then grabbed his hand before letting him speak and started to run back home.

((Yeah, That be cool, It could make the story go a bit longer before we get to the safe house.))
Deak ran beside Shadow. "Just because your good with weapons, doesn't mean I can't worry about you." He huffed as they ran. It wasn't long before they could see the house, but something caught Deak's eye. One of the walkers were extremely fast on their rotten feet. It was headed for Shadow and himself. They were almost to the house, something couldn't happen to them now. They had just found out about a safe house and Deak wasn't ready to let this stupid walker get in the way of he and his friends having a chance at a safe life.
((He can get bitten now, or later. Though it would be pretty ironic if it happens now. XD))

Shadow couldnt help but roll her eyes as she ran. "Im not a kid, Deak! And you dont have to worry about me!" she shouted. Shadow then turned to see a Walker running oddly faster than the others. He seemed not to be as ragged and torn apart as the others but Shadow noticed a shot through its heart and its shoulder. She could imagine the first few people who must have tried to shoot it. Wanting to prove herself to Deak, she turned around sharply and shot it square in its head. "See?" she said.

Deak stopped dead in his tracks when Shadow turned around shot the walker. He sighed and turned away from her to start walking towards the house. "I don't think you realize this, but part of loving someone is worrying about them not matter what." He said, not looking back.

Shadow still wasnt understanding this whole love thing. After and before Zeak came and went, Shadow couldnt find the meaning. Shadow did nothing but scoff. "Deak, I know you're worried but- I can take care of myself and I dont need a babysitter whenever I go out." she said.

Deak clenched his fists. "Look, I know your knew at this whole love thing, but no matter how many times you prove how you can take care of yourself, I will always worry, I will always be there for you and I will always make sure your ok!" He hissed and ran back to the house, slamming his door closed when he got to it.

Shadow could feel nothing but anger burning her own skin, well it could have just been the sun. She watched as Deak ran back into the house, banging his fist on the wall. He was acting more- sensitive lately, probably since Zeak left. Shadow knew Deak cared, but she know felt that in this mess, there was no place for love. She hid the feeling deep inside her and turned back to inspect the Walker, maybe there was something on it she could give to Mary. She then searched it's pockets and pulled out a swiss knife and figured she could give the pistol to her as well, there was still some bullets left and hopefully they would find some on the trip. Maybe we should get going already, she thought and started walking to the house.
Jason smiled and watched as Deak came running in, looking mad as hell. But then, he got worried. Deak only got emotional when something bad happened. What if.. "Shadow?!" he called and ran to the front door to see her carrying a knife and a pistol in both hands, she also had some fresh blood splatters on her. "God! Who'd you kill?" he asked, half joking and half startled. "Just a- Wait what?! Oh, no! This is just- just a Walker." she said akwardly. Jason nodded and cocked his head in Deaks direction. "Ah, we just had a small arguement. He'll get over it." she said with no emotion as she set her dagger on the couch. "You sure? He seemed pretty mad and-" Shadow cut him off. "He's fine, Jason." she began coldly. "Just, stay outta his way and he'll be- fine.." with that, she went in front of the TV and plopped herself on a chair, just staring at the blank screen.
Mary came running down the steps to find Shadow on the couch after she saw Shadow and Jason argueing. She then cautiously walked over to her and sat on the couch near the chair. "A-Are you alright?" she asked in her sweet voice. Shadow tried to let her face soften a bit when Mary came along and looked to her. "Yea, Im fine kid. Just the whole- thing is just getting to me ok? We should be leaving later on today, the house isnt safe since its too close to town and we have to get to the safehouse soon." Shadow stated. Mary only nodded and looked at the TV. "I really miss watching Spongebob." she sighed. Shadow smiled slightly and said. "Yea I miss that sponge." Their conversation was almost always akward like this, Shadowknew Mary was always careful around her but she didnt point it out. Shadow then pulled out the swiss knife and gave it to Mary. "For you. You have to protect youself if anything happens to us." she said. Mary smiled and walked back upstairs to her room.

Deak angrily banged on the window in his room. He noticed a walker pathetically scratching its rotten fingers on the brick bellow him. He sighed. For some reason, seeing this thing struggling made him feel... Well, sad. How walked down stairs and out the door. He couldn't help but want to end this monstrosity's pitiful and hopeless life. If you can even call it life. Once Deak got closer to the walker, it got a lot more energy. It pounced on him, and hit hit the ground hard. Before he could do anything, it bit his left shoulder, gushing blood everywhere. "Damn it!" He screamed. "Shadow!" He called out as he tried to pry the walker off, but it just sank its teeth in further.
Jade yelped when she heard Deak scream. She raced out the door, only to freeze. Jade's jaw dropped. "DEAK!" She screamed.

Shadow sat upright and darted for her dagger as soon as she heard Deaks yell for help. She then rushed outside along with Jade and stopped dead in her tracks once she found the Walker biting Deak and trying to tear her apart. Shadow came to and charged straight into the Walker, knocking him off Deak and stabbing him several times in the head. Once Jason came running out and saw this happen he had to pry Shadow off the already dead Walker. "LET GO OF ME, JASON! IM GOING TO KILL IT!" she screamed, kicking and struggling to let go but Jason was too strong. "SHADOW! STOP! Hes dead! He dead.." he replied a bit softer, hoping to calm her down. Shadow gave up and Jason let her go and she walked slowly to Deaks side and feel on her knees. "He wont make it." she said, not looking at the others. Jason stared straight at her in shock and fear. "No, wait, Shadow. You cant just say that. You dont know if-" "Jason. The damn Walker bit him over and over again we cant just let him decay." Shadow said without emotion. Jason stepped back and grabbed hold of Jade's hand. Shadow then towered over him and aimed her dagger right at Deak.
Once Mary heard everybody's yells she ran downstairs with her short legs and outside. Scared and holding the knife right in front of her, ready to fight any zombies, though she couldnt bring herself to do it. She then saw Jason and Jade staring with fear at Shadow who stood above Deak, ready to kill him in cold blood. Then Mary ran up to her andthught she w Shadow will almost no remorse in her eyes, as if she was going to kill Deak in cold blood. "No, Shadow!" she shrieked. She then knocked the blade right from Shadows hand and tears burned her eyes. "Leave him alone! We can cure him, and and.." her voice trailed off as she watched Deak in horror and began to shed tears.

Jade grabbed Jason's hand and used her other one to wrap herself around him. She buried her face into Jason's chest, sobbing in fear of her childhood friend dying. Though she didn't want him to have to suffer.
Deak sighed in relief when Shadow pushed the walker off. His pain tolerance was high, but taking the walker away from his shoulder made him feel better. He held his shoulder to try and stop the bleeding. Deak put his palm on the tip of the dagger. "I'm fine," He sat up and clutched his shoulder. "See, I can-" He started, but stopped. Everything turned black and his light blue eyes turned a cream color. Helplessly, he looked up at Shadow. He had a new prospective, for everything except Shadow. He just sat there and stared at her, no longer holding his shoulder, for it didn't hurt and was no longer bleeding. "mmngh" He tried to speak, but he couldn't. Deak had no idea what was going on, or why he wasn't eating this girl's flesh right now. Slowly, he reached his hand out to this girl. "Sh-Shad-" He started. Was this the girl's name? he asked himself. "-ow."
Jade was amazed by this. Why wasn't Deak trying to attack Shadow? Why was he just sitting there? He was obviously already changed.

Jason was a bit surprised Jade hugged him but he hugged her back and looked up just in time to see Deak just sitting there and not eating Shadow. "What the.."
Shadow was confused and startled when Mary came and just hit the dagger out of her hand. "Kid! What the hell do you think-" she stopped short and stared down at Deak who was trying to pronounce her name and actually reaching out to her. She then grabbed Mary's tiny hand and put her in back of herself, hoping to protect her if Deak lashed out. "Oh god, not you to, not you too.." she whispered silently. "Jade, help me take Deak inside, he might still be ok and I definatley dont want to bury him here if he... passes." Shadow said. "Jason, do you mind taking Mary inside? I dont want her to see this." he asked. Jason nodded his head and took Mary by the hand inside.

Jade took a deep breath and nodded. She slowly and cautiously walked over to the zombified Deak. She saw him look over at her with his lifeless eyes. She gulped and grabbed him by the arm, forcing him to his feet. Deak now stood with a slouch, his arms dangling down in front of him.
Deak craved human meat and flesh right now, but something inside of him told him no. Something else caught his new senses though. It was down in the town, and he could smell it like it was a few inches away. A group of people where in the town, but they weren't moving around. They were probably stuck in a store. Deak tugged away from Jade and shuffled towards the town. "Food..." He moaned as he dragged his feet through the grass and onto the asphalt.
Jade put her hand on his shoulder. "Deak wait!" she said, but he just pushed her hand away. He had no idea why she was calling him that. Jade tried to stop him once more. This time he wasn't so nice. "Need... Food." he growled.

Shadow ran after Deak and stopped right in front of him, pointing her dagger right in front of his eye. "No, Deak!" she ordered. "You cant just go out and- eat people." she said firmly, clearly not caring if this was the guy she had feelings for or not. It was strange to see a Walker behave this way and she was even more confused that he didnt lunge for Shadow or Jade.
