...Any ideas for a plot?

Setting

Humans have long thought that they know the entire earth--inside and out.  But what they don't know is that one rare, special breed of horse has been living for thousands of years underground, unbeknownst to them. Millions of years ago, cracks in the earth's crust opened wide and deep.  Over the years, many different plant species were able to establish themselves deep beneath the earth's crush.  Moistures formed large, flowing rivers.  And, finally, a series of earthqueakes set large mountains into place. But, the most peculiar thing in this underground world was the source of light.  Rare mineral began to form there, glowing bright and steady.  Warmth from the earth's surface was just enough to tell them when to go off--at night.

And what did all of this form?  An underground world.  A huge meadow spanning many square miles formed, surrounded by mountains.  Flora of all kind formed there, but only a few animals survive.  And, to the west, a large, deep canyon opends up.  At the very, very bottom, barely seeable, is a molten river of lava.

Personality (Doesn't have to be amazing, but be in depth!): Headstrong, stubborn, and fun-loving.  She likes to have fun, and dislikes those who are bossy, and hard work.  Eclipse prefers a day in the meadow to onein the desert, and is often self-centered.  ((Phail personality.  May change.)

Personality (Doesn't have to be amazing, but be in depth!): Often sarcastic, Salem also has a very sharp tongue.  She dislikes working, and much prefers playing around having a good time.  She admires Eclipse, and views her as a role model.  Salem doesn't like how her sister, Dawn, is always overprotective of her, and often rebels against her jsut to make her angry.

Personality (Doesn't have to be amazing, but be in depth!): Fyrefly is a hardworking horse that cares about his herd.  He does his best to protect it, and please the other members.  He values honor and strength, along with loyalty.  Fyrefly isn't a very gifted horse socially, though, and he often finds himself lonely./ Embyre is a near opposite of Fyrefly.  A harsh loner, Embyre dreams of having his own herd.  He has a fierce temper to fuel his ambition, and can be very hateful.  He is also very clever and cunning.

Caspian was running.  His legs pumped furiously.  he had to go faster!  The puma was right on his heels, dangerously sharp teeth snapping a hairsbreadth from his heels.  Fear sent his heart rate zooming ahead.  Adrenaline coursed through him, giving that final spurt of energy--wait, where was the puma?  Caspian was able to glance back in time to see the puma several feet being him, baring its teeth in an ugly snarl.  Why had it stopped?  Then, suddenly, Capsian knew.  A huge, deep canyon opened up in front of him.  He tried to stop, but his hooves slid without purchase on the sandy rock.  And then he was falling...falling...

Caspian woke up with a start.  He was breathing far too fast--like he had been running.  His body was covered in sweat.  Pale morning light filtered down from the mountains surrounding the valley.  Caspian sighed.  At least it wasn't the middle of the night.  the terrifying dream had woken him up completely, yet most of the herd was still sleeping soundly.  He looked towards the sunrise again--another day had begun.

Dawn was up early.  She had risen before the sun, taking a walk with the milky moon instead.  She had found herself walking towards the end of the meadow.  Fresh spring gr*censored*es sprouted up around her hooves, their emerald stalk swaying in the slight breeze.  Distant mountains towered about her, purple in the dark morning.  Dawn didn't know how long she had been gone, but by the time she had found her way back to the herd, the sunrise was beginning to dye the sky crimson.
