Odette arrived home to a quiet house, which was what she usually liked. It meant her father was at work, making sure the town of Zurlin was perfect, or at least creating the illusion that everything was perfect. It meant that she could spend a perfect few hours in her perfect room, doing her homework perfectly and doing her nails perfectly.

However, she wasn't very happy at the silence that met her that afternoon. She had wanted to ask her father about the Undisciplined attacks during the weekend. It irked her that he tried to keep things from her. After all, much of the planning and ideas that had resulted in a perfect Zurlin came from her, not him.

She didn't feel like doing homework, and she had a perfectly timed schedule anyway, so she'd have plenty of time to do it later. At this moment, she felt like brainstorming. At least she'd be doing something about the Undisciplined kids until her father came back to fill her in.

The Undisciplined kids were a big problem, and a big pain in the backside. No one but themselves knew who they were, but they had made it obvious that they were students, what with the amateur stunts and the focus around the school. Or perhaps they were adults who wanted to stop the government from manipulating children from a young age...no, they were definitely students. She just knew it.

She didn't know why they were trying to wreck the carefully crafted town they had spent so much time, money and effort putting together. Was it that they wished to be uncivilised monkeys? Did they not want a presentable town to display to the world? Why would they try to tear something so great as this down?

And they had even turned violent. She couldn't believe that they had shot down George Baker. He was one of the most influential men in the town, aside from her father. The two men had been very good friends, and she had seen him as a sort of mentor. He had taught her all the cunning she knew.

Despite that, she didn't feel much about his death aside from burning hate for the Undisciplined. It was then that she decided it was time to fight fire with fire. Impatiently, she waited for her father to come home, so that she could present her idea to him. It was time to do something drastic.

Brian slowly walked home, not really in a big hurry to get there. It was a pretty nice day, sunny but not too hot. He finally reached his house and entered when he heard a ton of screaming and yelling coming from inside the small kitchen. He poked his head into the other room and noticed his dad screaming at some chick who was screaming and shouting back just as loud, when the girl grabbed a beers bottle sitting on the table and threw it his dad before turning around and hurrying out of the room, nearly crashing into him.

He looked at his dad who picked up the beer bottle and tossed it into the trash. "Chicks. Heartless, backstabbing, spoiled people. Never trust one." His dad grumbled to his sitting down in a chair and resting his head on his hand.

Brian sighed and sat down in a chair facing opposite of his dad. "I know this, but when are you going to learn, Charlie?" He said sarcastically listening as his dad let out a chuckle at his comment. Brian smiled and stood back up looking at his watch. "Well, I have to go...Got things to do, rules to break." He said smiling as his dad.

"Ha, that shouldn't be too hard." His dad answered back, getting up. "Try to be back before 10 though." Brian's dad walked out of the room leaving Brian alone. Brian got up and headed out of the door to go to the meeting place of the Undisciplined. He looked behind him several times making sure no one was following, and began to head down the road, mind full of thoughts and questions that may never be answered.

When her father still hadn't arrived home at quarter past six, Odette unhappily realised that it would be an overtime night. The house felt very lonely at night, when she was by herself and her mother wasn't there. It didn't help that she was feeling a rise in panic when she thought she heard something outside, near the window. She had tried to squash the feeling, but she was a very suspicious and superstitious person, and she believed a hell of a lot in ghosts. She really didn't want to be alone at the moment.

Reaching for her mobile phone frantically, she pushed the buttons that would put her through to her boyfriend. There were a few rings, before he picked up. "Hey baby, what's up?"

"Nicky?" Her voice was a squeaky, high-pitched one that she didn't like, so she carefully cleared her throat before continuing. "Are you...are you free tonight? Daddy hasn't come home yet, and I don't want to be..alone. Can I come over?"

There was a shuffling, and Nicholas sounded a bit uneasy. "I...don't think now's the best time, Odette."

"Why not?" she hissed back, almost stamping her foot. "I'm scared, Nick. I'm coming over. Get your car and pick me up, now!"

There was a pause. "I don't have my car, Odette. Alex borrowed it."

This time Odette did stamp her foot. "Fine, but I need to get out of this damned house. I'm going to walk to your house, okay?" She hung up before he could protest anymore. She wondered why he even put up a fight. Usually, he just did as she asked.

Grabbing her a trench coat off the hook in the entrance hall, she left the house. It was ironic that she felt much more safer outside, in the open streets with the streetlamps, than in her own home, but it was so big and scary sometimes that she couldn't help it. The good thing was that Nicholas lived only a block away from her. She would have asked him to come and pick her up to walk with her, but she didn't want to hear anymore protests.

She was rounding the corner of Gingerbread Crescent when she felt her breath catch. Someone was walking down the road, looking behind them as if paranoid that someone was following. Her mind worked frantically, and it didn't take long for it to come up with the theory that this was one of the Undisciplined. It was farfetched, but...there was the smallest chance she was correct, and this was an opportunity she couldn't miss. Maybe there was a meeting. If she could just get to it, she could get all the members' names down, and then...they'd disappear. For good.

Breathing heavily, she took off her heels. They wouldn't be good for doing undercover work like this, but she didn't want them dangling down her hand while she tried to do this. Reluctantly, she hid them in a bush, not willing to just leave them there, since they had cost well over $300. Committing their location to memory, she waited for the figure to turn the corner before she began to follow it.

Brian didn't see anyone, but he still felt like someone was following him. He continued to look around suspiciously, and decided to take the long way in hope of loosing whoever was following him, that is if anyone was. After he continued to walk a little ways he could still feel the odd feeling of someone else being around, so in hope to hear something he stopped and remained completely silent for a few second to see if he could hear anything.

((Ugh, sorry its so short, but I couldn't really think of anything else to write. :c))

((That's fine. <3))

Odette almost squeaked when she saw the figure stop, remaining silent for a few minutes. Dammit, it meant whoever it was was onto her. She desperately hoped they wouldn't turn around, because she was in plain view.

It was dark, though, so she tried crouching as low as possible. It was a completely undignified pose, and she was wearing a dress, but she couldn't think about that now. She was too immersed in this...mission, she supposed she could call it. Swearing silently, she really didn't feel comfortable crouching, so she darted behind the closest tree as quickly and quietly as possible. She thought she had done a good job, but she couldn't be too sure.

She cursed when the familiar sound of her mobile phone began ringing.

Brian didn't hear anything at first and he was about to continue walking, when he heard a weird noise come from close behind him. He turned around and looked around, but couldn't see anything. "Hello?" He called out narrowing his eyes. He knew someone was there, it was now a matter of finding out who it was and why they were following him. He began to walk towards where he had heard the sound, wondering if this person was going to make things hard, or just give themselves up, because he would find them one way or another.

"You may as well show yourself, because I hate it when people waste my time for stupid things like this..." He called out looking around again.

She wanted to utter so many swear words in that one moment that even her father, who was pretty laid back about the whole cussing thing, would probably have grounded her. Please, please stop ringing, she thought desperately. It was probably Nicholas, wondering where she was when she had been so adamant on getting to his house, and even though she knew it was her fault, she still resolved to say something to him tomorrow. And possibly do a bit of yelling, too.

The figure began calling out, and from the voice, she knew it was male. She knew who it was, too. If he really was going to an Undisciplined meeting...her friends and her had been right all along. Brian Kioma was against them.

All thought of keeping herself hidden flew out of her mind, anger once again clouding her judgement. Stepping out from behind the tree, feeling more courageous than she probably looked, she spat, "Going somewhere, Kioma?"

Brian watched as the Mayor's daughter stepped out from behind a tree. Wow, this whole kidnapping thing might be easier then expected. He thought to himself not helping but give a small smile. I have to keep things cool though, so she doesn't try to run or something. "No, I'm just going for a walk, ya know, getting some fresh air and stretching my legs. But I am surprised to see you out here...I mean walking around alone can be dangerous, especially for someone related to someone so important." He said almost in a threatening way. "What are you doing out here alone anyways? I was about to attack you myself a minute ago." He added sounding innocent and calm.

Like he would ever dare try, she thought to herself, smirking on the outside. She wasn't scared by his 'threat'. She thought that he seemed to be the type to give threats but never act on it. Still, she didn't buy his innocent ex
pression and tone for a minute.

"Didn't know you cared so much," she retorted flippantly. "To answer your question, I'm out here because...because..." For some reason, she didn't want to tell him that she was scared because of some noises that probably had been a cat knocking over the garbage bins outside. It would reflect back on her perfect reputation, she decided, people shouldn't be scared of silly things like that. "...I'm going to see my boyfriend," she ended lamely. At least it was true.

From beneath long eyelashes, she peered up at him, wondering what he was going to say to that. Maybe she should just leave him there, it wasn't like she wanted to be seen talking with him anyway. It wouldn't do much for her reputation. Still, even if she hated him, she had to be polite. Perfection demanded politeness.

"Anyway, er, it was lovely to see you-" the words felt quite repulsive in her mouth, and she struggled not to make a face, "-so I'll be going now." Not bothering to say goodbye, since she believed she had already given him more than he deserved, she turned and began walking back up the street, wincing when she remembered she was barefoot.

Brian began to watch her walk away. He knew that now would be the perfect time to just grab her and kidnap her and get it over with. He didn't want to do it yet though for some reason. He stood there quietly wondering if he should still go to the meeting or if he should follow her. He took his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number. "Hey, I'm not going to be able to make it...Can you tell them about my plan?"He asked. He waited for a few seconds before saying okay and ending the call. He began walking down the street again, only instead of going the way he was supposed to, he turned down a different street that he hadn't been down in a year or so.

She really didn't know why she was suddenly so shaken up by that encounter, but she found herself trembling the minute she had left the street they had confronted each other on. Examining her hand by the light of the streetlamp, she saw the tremors passing through it that she tried to stop without any luck. It wasn't until she clenched her fist that it grew still, but the rest of her was shaking.

Trying to put her mind from the encounter, she took her phone out, seeing three messages all from Nicholas. She didn't feel like talking to him anymore, so she ignored them. Instead, she began walking home, finding her shoes in the bush she had left them in.

She was already standing in front of her mansion when she realised why she was shaking: for some unknown reason, she felt like she had just escaped a brush with death. The only thing she knew was that Brian Kioma was bad news, and that maybe - just maybe - going after the Undisciplined wasn't as good an ideas as she had initially thought.
