lol I gotta say I"m completely against this idea...interesting,though!

I'm against this idea because,as another user already stated,dead pets,though they are DEAD,are still the property of the user who hatched/raised/bought them.

this seems too much like theft,and some users may be VERY angry if that were to happen to them.

also,you always need one creatu on your profile if you want to do alot of the things in RES,so you can't put ALL of your pes in the showroom,so that wouldn't really work all that well...

but,how about this idea?

an option to SELL your dead pet's gravestone.

this way it's like buying a pet from a ranch,only you have to ressurect it afterwards.

now if you want that name so badly,you won't have stolen it from a user,instead you'll have rightfully bought it's corpse!

and for those people who have dead pets,my idea wouldn't work,BUT you can just be patient and wait for it to be cleared from the graveyard,then the name is fair game :P
