I have no idea if this has been suggested before, but it would be a cool Idea, personally of course. - It could be bought as an item from the Cash shop.
- it would have benefits such as preknowledge to retired egg promotions and some other things, higher luck rate during seasonal hunts and a slightly higher colour chance in hatches.
- Discounts with Cash points.
- A specific coloured name or italitsized or Bold to show they are Premium.
- a Forum section just for them. And Finally, a Premium avatar could be unlocked from this. But I DO NOT think this should cause inaccesability of creatu. There should not be a premium only creatu because that would make the gameplay less involved and fun. Anyone else like this idea? Critisisms, etc? |

Sounds like a great idea, Azy, and I'd hate to shoot this down, but a suggestion maybe could be that since this may offer "CP discounts" and other benefits and thus is quite valuable, perhaps this could be more like a subion? Like a certain amount per month/time period?

As much as I like this idea, this reminds me of Webkinz or something with the Deluxe Membership and it literally drove half of the user population off the site. I don't like this idea, because as much as this would add money to the site, a Premium Membership would have to have something special, like only being able to do something, which would single other users who don't have the membership out, and it wouldn't make the site that enjoyable.
If this site has lasted seven years without a Premium Membership, I'm sure they could survive without it now, so...

no support. It's a cool idea, but I'm not really a big fan of sites that have the option of buying your way into "membership". Because i feel like it creates a very distinct divide between the users, those with memberships and those without. It makes those without membership feel like they're missing out on part of the site, and personally,I wouldn't be able to enjoy the site fully, or as much as I do now.
However, if Rescreatu really needed the money, I would understand if they decided to implement this. I'd rather have this than the site being shut down for lack of funds.

No support. Like everyone has said, it creates a rift between premiums and non-premiums. I know I could never afford to be premium, and I'd be terrified that it would drive my friends that could away from me. I hated webkinz premium thing, it drove me nuts. And besides, it just creates more of a distinction of who is a newb or not very good at the game and who isn't, making the whole integration into the site so much harder for newer users.
So, yeah. No support.

Premium accounts have been brainstormed, planned, and ready for implementation for a while now. They just haven't been integrated yet is all.

Since it has been confirmed by mirrors that this WILL be happening, instead of supporting/not supporting the idea itself, why don't we all try to come up with some ideas of what we'd like to see about premium memberships?
For example, Azy said discounts and avatars, along with some other things. While we can't confirm or deny anything yet, those are good things for staff to see, it'll give us ideas of what may increase the desire to buy such a membership.
In addition, do we want these as account-specific features (the memberships) or do we want them more like the FBCs, where they are items anyone can buy from the CS and sell to other users as they wish (or use for themselves)? If they're account specific, do we still want them as items so we can choose when to activate them or do we want it automatically activated upon purchase?
And please, if you have more ideas, please voice them, it doesn't just have to be "yes, I like avatars" it can be "I want my HA to turn purple!" Of course, not all ideas will be taken, game balance still has to be considered, but all ideas will be looked at.
Finally, ideas of what should absolutely NOT happen with premium memberships can also be voiced. For example, if you think they should absolutely NOT get a premium-only pet, say so. However, don't say "because I can't get a premium membership" or "because newbies will feel left out." There are plenty of newbies that CAN spend money on the site and those that can't are already left out of a lot of things. There are many expensive things that cannot be bought by newbies, but it would be boring if you could have everything in the first week, no one would stick around because there would be no goals.
If you have something you think should absolutely not be part of the premium membership, give a reason why, don't just say "I don't want them to get a free avatar." Why shouldn't they get one? Because you can't have it? That's not a great reason. Because it would unbalance the game in some way that staff may have not foreseen? Excellent reason.

I think forum avatars would be good; I also think it should be more like the FBC, where you can buy one from the cash shop and sell it to others - in other words, not account specific. That way, people who can afford to buy these premium memberships can buy more than one, which will bring more money into the site and allow other users, some of which may not be able to afford membership, to have it as well.
I don't think egg hunting rates and hatching colour rates should go up, because that may bring down the value of coloured pets/seasonals in general once more are being hatched, nor should premium users get more hatches. The only thing I would suggest is that fresh eggs have less chance of failing when hatched.
Another thing is that the tier requirements for the Enchanted Springs could be lowered.
As for the pre-knowledge to retired egg promotions as suggested, don't think they should be included either since there's nothing stopping premium members from telling everyone on the SB, which would take away that advantage.
I'm not sure about having specific coloured names, because i feel like that's something reserved for the staff; however, i think it should say "premium" under the HAs in the forums, (e.g. like how under wolfspi's name, it says "writer").
I'm not opposed to a few premium only items for HAs, but I don't think there should be a large number because then it'd be like non-members feel separated from members.
Finally, I think that this premium membership thing could be really interesting; it's just that the special features awarded to premium members need to be balanced out so that it premium members have extra priveleges that are worth paying for, but not extra features that will make the general user population feel left out of the site, like they can't enjoy it fully.

Something I'm curious about is whether things you own as a premium would become unusable when your premium expires (would it expire? I just assumed it would). I'd be opposed to items/things you've earned expiring or being inactive until you get another premium when you lose your premium. I used to play club penguin and buy memberships monthly, but i stopped the minute I couldn't use things I had earned after my membership expired. I don't think as many people would buy membership if things like clothing items could no longer be used once you lose your premium, which would restrict the cash flow and usefulness of the premium.
I do completely support it being an actual item. It would allow more cash flow for the site, for all the reasons Blaze stated.

Any items or pets obtained while paying for a premium membership would not expire, absolutely not. The idea is that during the time the membership is active, perks are available to that member depending on their subscriber level. Once the subscription ends, so does the access to the perks.

I love Blaze's idea of the reduced "fail" chance for hatches. :)
I like vanity items for the HAs (a special badge/silly hat/hand-held item). Maybe the option to have a special "aura" type add-on for the HA, similar to the Xespa/Xoria auras. Because these don't affect actual play (scores, "highest" lists, etc.), I don't think that these should be transferable. They're a silly, fun perk that doesn't change the game but gives donators something special.
A pricing function for shops might be nice (I've seen this done in many different ways, from a link within the edit screen next to each item, to a simple "auto-price all" feature).
An extra daily visit to the Springs, Trash Isthmus and the Apple Tree perhaps?
The ability to "hide" online status while Premium Membership is active.
A special Creatu effect, one-time, one-use only. Just a visual effect. It doesn't make your Creatu stronger or older or faster or smarter, so no advantage gained. OR maybe a Creatu "ti.tle", also one-time, one use only (i.e., my "Dolemite" would become "Big Daddy Dolemite", or something equally silly). Heck, give the user a ti[injection]tle too. I'm "Brewmaiden of Ironforge" on another petsite. It's a simple line of text beneath my name on Forum Posts and my Profile. Nothing fancy. All ti.tles would either be preset or would have to be pre-approved by Staff.

^This! All of staff has tried to keep in mind with this idea and with other non-standard features that no advantage should be gained over other players. Having extra perks can be great and fun and still not give an advantage in the game. =)
