Okay. So. I had an aweosme idea the other day, so here we go.
I've been sitting on the Users online page recently, and a new idea came to me. How would you like it to (instead of sitting on the users online page like I do all of the time) be able to get notified when your friend comes on? What I was thinking was there would be a little link (on the users online page), or a little box at the bottom (of the users online page) that you could type a user's name into. Once you clicked submit, then every time they went online, or offline, you would get an alert telling you so. It would be kinda like subscribing to a user, if you know what I mean. It was just a random idea, but it might turn out to be realy helpful.
Rate, subscribe, sit on the users online page. ^.^

With your friends you can already see this. It isn't an alert, but on the Respals page there's a section for Online Respals and Offline Respals, so you can easily check if a friend is online. Plus, when the Facebook chat comes back, you'll be able to instantly see
any online friends, or at least ones online in the chat.
For non-Respals, I still ultimately support just a simple Users Online search. A little less convenient than a stalk the user function, but it would still work.
I don't support because I'm pretty sure me, and probably others, would thoroughly piss anyone stalking me off. I don't stay online constantly, and I'm usually frequently coming on, checking things, going off to do something else, then coming back on, at pretty much all hours of the day. In the frame of twenty four hours I could give someone over a dozen alerts, probably more since I don't even know how long it takes to "time out" of the site.

No support, because as Grave stated, you can already click Respals to see which of your friends are on.
