I'm new here, but I'm not likely to stay, and I have a feeling this is a trend in new members. This site is not entertaining, it's like one of those click games. Hundreds of clicks on the names of zones on the world map just to hopefully find eggs for creatu I'd like to hatch. I saw no reason to explore the worlds besides the swimming hole on Atquati. Three hatches a day means that once those are done and it's been demonstrated that the eggs I want aren't showing up, I'm off the site. There's no reason to stay. Unimplemented or removed elements that have persisting artifacts in the game add to the slow loading speed of the site. The few games (besides the luck games) available to play don't give TU, but are supposed to according to the deions. I found by day two that that didn't matter as the economy here is a mess and TU has little value; I've stumbled across more than a million just trying to find eggs. Egg shop and critter shop seems like a waste as well as eggs are found pretty easily and I've seen listings in the egg market that are so low the sellers would make more TU hatching the egg and dumping the baby for 10k. Then there's the names. Wow. Players here have how many pets? And they all require unique names. This is hugely limiting to play and will also discourage new players from remaining. I was trying though. Just making a goal and using my limited hatches to go for it, and going to another site about fifteen minutes later because collecting got boring and is also limited, which does make sense considering hatching limit. But do you see a pattern in those words? Limited play ability means limited new player loyalty and a boring site. I've also read forum posts about how players didn't want to have to hand feed their thousands of pets in their shops or galleries because it would mean logging on more than once a month. From what I understand from other forum posts the owner of this site never shows up here at all. That says something and the site is creating its own death. But, I was hoping Res would replace another pet site I play on, that the forum post asking for help improving the site might mean something, but what I saw in the chatbox today has pretty much sealed the deal for me.
I watched an established player make a sales offer to hatch eggs and a new player take them up on it, followed by another established player offering to "buy the other two", a clear indicator that someone else had also asked, to which established hatcher said, send them over. It is easy enough to see why the new player got confused as established hatcher didn't specifically address anyone, but indicators in chat tell that the new player sent an egg to be hatched. When the time came however, established hatching player not only did not hatch the new player's egg, but after the new player very politely apologized and even accepted the blame for the misunderstanding, established hatcher publicly down-dressed them in the chatbox about how "maybe they should make sure the offer is accepted before sending an egg" to be hatched. This went completely unaddressed by anyone else in the chat and the new player promptly stopped talking altogether. I don't know if established hatcher decided to ignore the new player in favor of the other established player (I do feel this is the case as there was too much evidence that there were two requests and even with a fast moving chat one can scroll back and read a few lines) or genuinely missed the new player's message (and all the signs that someone besides established player 2 wanting to purchase the hatches). But this is an absolutely shining example of what I call the old guard and how they are immune, and a very poor example of the community most new players will see before they investigate the forums. I'm not going to name names because obviously established hatcher is totally free to behave in any way they choose. On a very out of date site (AIM? Really been years since an update) with so little to offer new players, community might have been a good reason to remain. This needs to be addressed, along with a lot of other things, or this site will continue to flounder until only the old guard play and all operations and maintenance costs are paid for by them, or the site dies completely. Pity too, bit of a clever system here and a lot of the critters are quite nice.

Yeah. Big, long TL;DR kinda post, but I needed to exorcise the mood I got from reading chat, and Res needs work.
