(or have it award more tu per rare book/ask for them less/etc)
this is probably going to get a lot of hate but with the addition of the PAB quests giving out tons of tu the demand for these has sky rocketed
there's always a split second or two lag when you refresh every 10 minutes/restock time
by the time the server catches up any very rares you might see have already been bought out by one person

it's becoming a hassle to buy them from book bargains, and buying them from user shops can quickly turn no profit

I understand they aren't supposed to be super easy to get hench the rarity but
it's ridiculous
please limit to 1 purchase at a time per user like how y'all limit event items so everyone can have a fair chance

thank you -__-

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw the event item restock mechanics.   I highly support this.

I have a decent connection, but not to the extent of the people that can somehow manage to refresh, select a very rare book, move the slider to buy multiples, and click the purchase button before anyone else.  I've noticed that they often don't max the slider (I assume it's faster to click midway than accurately at the end if favoring speed), because it's sometimes possible to snipe a single book.  Those milliseconds not bothering with the slider really count!

I can usually snag one very rare book every 2-3 tries, as long as the book restocks with multiples... which is effectively the one-limit implementation suggested.  I've found this mostly covers for the book quest, especially when trading for other very rare books that I've been unlucky with, but not enough to ever comfortably have spares to sell.

Setting purchase limits on these heavily contested books would allow for more users with slower internet connections to also enjoy.  If nothing else, it would at least feel more fair.

Alternatively (or in conjunction with), being able to do some sort of special orders with some of the shop NPCs might be nice, and would benefit even those with the slowest connections.  Something like once every one or more days a user can place an order for one item (plus a fee for the service), which will be delivered a number of restocks/days later (perhaps dependent on rarity).

On its own it would still make the quests very dependent on restocking, but at least it would make certain items within reach to everyone.

Personally, I do not think "the same like 2-3 people who ALWAYS get them and resell for 10x the price

Every single person on Res who does the book quest normally, including myself, sits in that shop waiting for restock. We all want the amazing profit that the PAB books bring. Its perfectly normal to also sell them for a profit.

Also, Res has users that are online all times of the day and night, so its possible the people you are refering to live in different time zones, so its easier for them to grab the books during the "slow" time for Res.

I can appreciate your concern, but I don't think it warrants trying to demonize the people are making a profit. Everyone does it, for all the quests. It's just that the book quests are in the limelight right now.

Also, consider that even if someone does post their books at what you might consider a reasonable price, others are buying them for their own quest needs. So all thats left is what you consider the unreasonably priced books. People can price things however they choose, its up to the buyer to agree with their listing price.

I'm literally not demonizing people who resell things

I'm asking for a limit on the very highly desired books so that everyone can have an equal chance at getting at least one rather than the one or two people who have an internet speed faster than everyone else (you yourself said everyone stalks restock times so a limit to one per purchase would help '^')

I wouldn't mind this. It'd be a little annoying to restock them but at the same time right now the number of times I've gotten 0 because of either lag or just being slower at clicking (by XX:04 seconds all of them were bought up, which is insane) means I'd probably actually ultimately get more books with the limit.

I think more importantly, I know they're supposed to be very rare but maybe increase the stock rate in terms of how often it stocks at least a little bit? Also, with everyone doing up to 50 quests per day, they really are asked for way more often than they're stocked. So I agree with the lowering the asking rate. Bumping up the number stocked a little bit might help as well because again, if everyone isn't constantly short on them, it won't be as painful.

The recent changes (no captcha, higher stock numbers) are definitely an improvement from before (although maybe captchas might help here, or they might not, I don't know if it's manual clicking or not. I'd rather not have them back personally) but I think this sudden influx of people doing quests just proves that it wasn't a big enough adjustment to support our current userbase, let alone if more people join.

I know people who resell might be upset by it being in less demand, but then prices would adjust to match demand and there'd still be a resell profit, just not as great a gap. I fully support reselling to make a profit, heck I shoved a bunch of achro Ezahni squishies in my shop once for a stupid price and left them there forever. Since the shop adjustments they haven't sold, which is a good thing. They should never have sold at the price I stocked them. I'd love to see these very rares selling for more than shop price but maybe double or triple at most, for which they have to be less insanely in demand.

I have trouble getting certain books too. Can we just skip the quest? I rather lose a few turns  than wait 5 hours for the quest to lapse.

I think this would help a lot - it seems like in most cases one person gets in first and buys all of the stock. Even if not limited to one, a limit of sorts? 2? Honestly like most people here are saying, we all end up only getting 1 copy most of the time in order to even get ANY stock so idk how that would make a difference?

I understand the arguments for and against this, but if we could at least trial it and see how it pans out.

I would support! I'm not like, upset or anything @ people who want to buy more than one at a time, cuz I mean.. it's def nice to have a little stock of 2 - 5 of them cuz a singular book is only gonna last so long!  But limiting them would obv give more people a chance; with lag, and ppl with quick fingers who are planning on buying the entire 7 - 10 available, it makes it really difficult.
I don't have an issue with people who wanna stock them in their own usershop either. It's just the difficulty of getting even a singular book that I'm wishing could be modified : (
If the reasoning for not wanting them to be more obtainable is because merchants would be making less tu, I do not see that as a valid argument :[

Limiting an item DOES NOT equal a person being unable to buy more than 1 during a restock! You can certainly buy multiple if you're quick enough; all it does is prevent a single person (or maybe two) from buying out the entire stock, 3 seconds in. The inconvenience of having to re-open the purchase menu would be incredibly minor as well. (unless your internet is awful, which in that case, you would likely still be supporting this, as you're probably also struggling to get the books!)

Alternatively, like wolfspirit25 said, the rarities of the books could be bumped down to Rare (15% chance of stocking). Or maybe Uncommon (30% chance of stock), but I understand not wanting to make it super duper easy to make millions of tu; would kinda mess with the economy. It's just a thought! (Though quests or payouts could always be adjusted a little, if we did go the Uncommon Rarity route, I'm not sure if that'd be preferred)
Lowering the asking rate is an option as well.
Or, and I'm not sure to what extent this would benefit, but the prices of the books could be raised maybe?? Cuz I got a feeling users would be more hesitant to massbuy an item if they have to drop several mil at once; they may be compelled to only buy a maximum of a couple at a time. ESPECIALLY if they're priced like LGBT tanktops/pins. But idk I feel like that'd be kinda silly considering the books have been reasonably cheap for as long as we can remember lol. just throwing out ideas from the top of my head

OH.... also like Tututu mentioned earlier: being able to skip a quest would be absolutely fantastic, at least for me!!! We have pet quest skip tokens; I wouldn't mind there being skip tokens for item quests. It really sucks waiting out the 2 - 4 1/2 hours.
I feel like that'd be a pretty dang good solution!! People wouldn't have to be breaking their backs tryna get rare books if they could skip it. You wouldn't have to put a limit on them or anything if there was an item quest skip token.
And for the few ppl who may not want that because they wanna profit off reselling the books: there would still be demand for them. A skip token wouldn't render them useless; it is not uncommon to be asked for a rare book alongside a PAB and ppl don't want to miss out on that!

Honestly, I think the mass influx of TU from the book quest is only hurting the economy in the long run. The three insanely expensive books should be dropped in price. I know they said that it would be at the next PAB but I'd say after X months they should drop. I know the clothing quest has one or two items of this price as well but the odds of being asked it are easily 10x less because of the sheer amount of clothing vs the number of books. I know everyone loves making TU from the quest and this is going to be a controversial opinion but in the last few months alone the worth of TU has plummeted because everyone is making 100s of mil from this quest per day.

I am agreeing with wolfspirit. This is just serving to increase the ridiculous inflation the Res economy has gone through for years and it’s not helping anything. Now the rich get richer, the ones that can’t afford to stock 5mil books suffer because the book quest becomes a less viable option for them to complete, and I don’t think it’s helping anyone.
