It would be awesome if my food pen told me how many items I have stocked. Would be useful both when my pen is full so I can easily see how much I have and when I am getting low.
Secondary to that, maybe the food pen could also alert me when it is low? Usually my pets die because I forget to log on for 10 months, therefore an alert is not as helpful because I would not be logged in to see it, but for regular players it may be helpful to get an alert when their pen falls to maybe 10 items or less. Would be super nice if the user could set their own threshold for when they are alerted.
