I think it would be cool if we had a button to bump our threads. It would just push up the thread to top without actually posting. So the bumps wouldn't lengthen the thread needlessly. I mean, it is kind of annoying when the original post is not readable directly because there are 2-3 pages after it, 90% my own bumps o_0.

I think it would work best if you could only bump your own threads like that. To bump for others you should post, just as now, so users couldn't abuse this to bump dead threads to top. Also the post could have a mark in ti
tle something like "last bumped at..." like as it has "last edited", so it is clearly seen if it is an abandoned thread or the owner still visits it.

What do you think?

should also have a time limit on it so the button doesnt get spammed with clicks

I do not really think you could spam it... After all, it doesn't really makes a difference if someone's post is the very 1st on the board or the 5th or 6th, until it is in the first half of the first page. If someone enjoys being the very 1st and clicks the button every 30 seconds to stay there, let them. Much less annoying than now, when you actually see that they bump every ten minutes as their thread gets longer and longer.

They would drop down anyways once logging out.

if u got alot of people doing this for their threads it would be spammed in my eyes, plus a time limit would give new threads a chance to be seen. if 1 page of threads got bumped every 30 seconds a new thread would be on the 2nd page and then they would spam the button to stay near the top. this also could lag the site i think might be wrong

the idea is good but left with no limit would get abused.

If it got abused you could be able to report them. There might be a rule, such as no needless bumping or something. This probably doesn't make any sense though. lD

But I do support a bump button. It'd be really useful. D: Especially in advertisements, which moves very quickly.

I still do not think that 30+ people would waste their time on this o_0. It usually takes half a day till my thread is pushed to second page even on the advertisement board, so there are really not so many new threads there.
But how about a Bump limit? Like with the eggs. You can bump 50 times a day. That's approximately once in every 30 minutes. If someone bumps every 30 seconds though they would use it up in half an hour.

I don't really support. It just sounds like a shortcut for people who are too lazy to bump their threads. Sorry, but I do not support.

Eliv: How is this a short cut? They still have to be online, go and search their own thread and click a button (just instead the "Post" button, they would click the "Bump" button), and it wouldn't lengthen their thread o_0. The only other difference is that they do not have to type the word "Bump". But even now some people just put a dot. So it would be like one click easier, but the thread would be 5 cms shorter.

What if you could only bump the thread up after it reaches the second page? If that's even possible.

At first I was impartial to this, but I like the idea if we use Fireaux's idea in it, because I do think that some people would abuse it and I'm to lazy to waste my time filling out a report. ;c

I would also like to add that by "bumping" the "unread" icon to the side of the thread shouldn't be marked. Like, if someone is bumping a thread that you've already read, it should still have the grey "read" symbol, and not have the flashing "unread" symbol. I think some attention-starved users would take advantage of the bump button like that and I don't want to have to memorize all the post counts on everything to see if there's really a new post on something.

Support with Grave's suggestion and a bump limit. I would have to agree that it's not cool if someone were to bump every 5 seconds to stay on top of the page.
