hello!

i think it's time Res allowed the sale of art for real money through the forums. i don't know a single other petsite that doesn't allow this! i'm fairly sure all that needs to be done is have a disclaimer inserted into the rules that Res is not responsible for anything that goes awry.

the art community on Res is amazing. even with the site almost dead as it is, the art forums are very successful. these talented artists deserve the chance to advertise their skills for some cash!
the ability to sell art for real money would also likely attract more new users, which is something we desperately need right now.

i understand it's good to have TU circulating, but maybe there could be some sort of amendment to this allowance; users must always have a TU option as well for commissions if they want to try to sell for USD, maybe?

anyway, i'd love to hear opinions on this.

cheers!

Besides if someone pays and gets no art or someone doesn't pay and gets art(like the person did all that art work for no pay). There might be more than a rule needed for such a thing with real money involved.
Like some contract or something so Res doesn't have legal issues to pay back the person who does art with the person backing out and not paying, or paid but got no art.
We have a bunch of amazing artists on here, but a handful that at a drop of a dime will stop art or poof because something came up.
Like imagine if someone paid for art, but the artist had real life issues...they aren't going to come on Res during these real life issues, Res will be the last on their mind and they can be gone days weeks months or longer. And most people their only contact with people is through Res.
So I am half and half on this idea.

i agree there may be more to this issue than we know, but every single other petsite ive been on allows this, even small startups that never amounted to anything, so logically even if there is a contract of sorts it MUST be easily accessible, right?

i may try to do some research and see if i can find out what is needed, soon.

EDIT: i can't really seem to find specific information just by googling, but i visited a number of petsites and they all just have a disclaimer in their TOS stating that they're not responsible for the actions of other players that might result in the loss of art or money. the TOS is technically a contract, which you agree to respect when you sign up for a site, so i still think this is all Res would need to do. if anyone has information as to why it would be more difficult than typing up a little disclaimer, please share!

@Allucore

The pet site is not responsible for sales not made in in-game currency. That's all they need to state. If someone gets scammed (paid and didn't get the art), they issue a chargeback or dispute using whatever site they actually made the transaction on (usually PayPal)
Giving art and getting no pay can't really be fixed, hence why most artists want the payment first. People get buyer's remorse and just straight up ghost

I would happily sell so much more art here if I could do USD, I can't exactly eat TU; so I support this
