I suddenly have the inability to purchase stocks from the music emporium.

Yes, I checked multiple times, but I can't find it for the life of me :/

It's not a glitch, this store is going out of business. There are a few more like this as well. They have been left in the Sell column so that users with any shares are able to get rid of them, but it isn't possible to purchase any new shares.

Ahhh, okay :/

I suppose I'll have to get rid of all my old shares too, then...

Any word on when old stores will disappear from the columns?

Nope, I don't think Patrick ever told us when. I believe they were supposed to be gone before now, but with the new state of things where we're given updates now, I would hope that there would be an update letting us know when the deadline is near. =)
