Food pen not working?

I have apples and hotdogs in my foodpen, but for some reason they aren't being fed to my pets! I've just had to feed them all manually!

Am I doing something wrong?

I'm having this same issue~ having to manually feed my pets even though my food pen has food in it.

The food pen does work - it feeds a random selection of food to a random selection of pets each night, rather than feeding every pet every night.

As far as I see the food pen feeds the pet when it gets hungry, no sooner.

My food pen hasn't fed my pets apparently for 2 days, according to my food pen log. If Yaiz is right, that seems sort of annoying. I'd like my pets to be at least satisfied all the time, I feel like a bad owner if they're not close to full. Lol.

As stated in the update, pets aren't fed from the pen until their hunger level reaches 70 or below... 70 is the number that "hungry" begins at.
