A male of seventeen years squeezed the bridge of his nose, clearly irritated. His name was Rion Pace, with brown hair that came down to the upper part of his neck and emerald eyes that seemed inhuman. But, unfortunately, he was human, and humans have to go to school.

My, my, my...This sounds like a lot to learn. Rion thought, rolling his eyes at the teacher. Was he paying attention to the lecture? Just barely. Did he understand what the teacher was instructing? Not really. Did he care? Hell no.

In fact, the only thing Rion Pace cared about was going home on Friday and hiding out in his basement until Monday morning came. Then, he would go to school up until Friday afternoon, and then came the weekend, and then he would have to go on like that until the next vacation.

The bell rang, and Rion was the first out the door. His papers flew out of his binders, but he could care less. The teacher was his homeroom teacher, and she cared a lot about her homeroom students. There was no doubt she'd return his papers to him the next morning.

When Rion got home, it was quiet. Unsure of whether or not his father was home, he went on upstairs, hoping that all of his homework had fell out of his binders when he had ran. If he didn't have homework with him, he wouldn't even bother to do it.

Then the thought of his father (whom he called by his first name) struck again, and, as if summonded, Rion's father shouted for him. Rion didn't answer, instead starting on the homework he had found in his bag (much to his dismay), and then his father stormed into his room. He looked up at him, half-confused and half-surprised. He could almost sware he had locked the door...or was that the memory of all the other times he'd come home and locked his door?

"Uh...huh?" Rion blinked, shaking his head. "I didn't hear a word you just said," He could've smirked.

His father shook his head. "Nevermind," he said, sighing loudly and almost dramatically. "I'm not even going to bother."

Sometimes, it amazed Rion how much his father sounded younger than he really was. At least, that's how it seemed. Instead of laughing and saying, "You've got your hands full with me, haven't you, old man!?" like he felt like doing, Rion stayed quiet and continued with his homework.

And then he was alone again.

The tortoiseshell tomcat that often came to visit Rion was on top of the roof, pawing at the window's glas-s and meowing loudly. It was cold out, so Rion let the tom in. Since Rion could never remember the tomcat's name, he always called it "Manekineko", after the cat in Japanese legend. The only way he remembered it was because of the miniature Manekineko statue on top of his dresser.

Manekineko yowled at Rion, asking for food. Rion glaned around his room, as if he could find some food that cats might like to eat. There was, like, no way he was going downstairs for cat food. Why feed a cat when he could feed himself, anyway?

Even so, Rion trotted down the stairs with Manekineko at his heels. Once in the kitchen, Rion opened the double door fridge, taking some ham and pulling out half of what was left of it. He dropped it on the floor for the cat, then proceeded to find something for himself. There was nothing he wanted to eat in the fridge, so Rion went on to the pantry.

He opened the door and jumped when he found his little sister in there. She put a finger to her lips, whispering, "I don't want Tyler to find me."

Rion sighed. Tyler was a kid the same age as Celia, and also Rion's next door neighbour. Not Celia's, since she lived with her and Rion's mother, but she was visiting during her vacation time.

"Right. You know, he's probably gone home by now. Everytime you hide in the pantry, he can't find you, and that's why he goes home." Rion said, taking a bag of salt and vinegar chips out from the pantry.

Celia pouted for half a second, and then she dived for Manekineko, who let out a choked meow. "Kitty!" she squealed.

"Let go of Manekineko, Celia. You'll kill him," Rion said, ignoring his father's gaze. He had stepped into the kitchen a minute before, and Rion hadn't even noticed him.

"Will not," Celia said, scowling at Rion. "I-"

Dane called after Rion. "Why do you let that cat in the house? You don't know if it belongs to anyone! And stop giving it food! You're wasting it," Fathers were so annoying...

Rion ignored him, and Manekineko managed to slip away from Celia and scramble after Rion. He could still hear his father yelling, and then his sister started screaming, and...Well, it was almost half past six before the house quieted down again. When it did, Rion was extremely relieved. He kicked off his shoes and reminded himself he had to go to work the next day.

School, home life, and work were all too much. Then, he also got into trouble a lot, so life was even more stressful because of that. Rion was sick of life and everything in it...Except, of course, for Manekineko and the best friend he could ever ask for. That was okay, but still.

The last thought Rion had before he slipped into a deep sleep was, I really need a holiday...

Heh. x3 Thank you to the both of you. And, Sarah, I really appeciate that. And then, I sometimes skip around in stories, too. And, for the same reason as you. xD
Ah... o.o' But then I miss details and I'm like, "Eh, what?" later in the book.

*posts more*

Rion was startled awake, but he wasn't sure why. But he was even more startled when he realized that entire world had gone bleach white. It was all...nothingness.

Then he heard a laugh, and Rion's head snapped to the side, seeing a raven-haired male, who seemed to be getting a kick out of the fact that Rion was completely freaking out. Well, at least, inside he was.

"Who...Who the hell are you?" Rion asked, scrambling to his feet. "And, why's the world all white?"

The male stood up as well, grinning wide. "It'll take some time before your brain gets used to this place. Right now, you can only see me and some other people who..." He looked around, his smile slowly forming into a frown. "...who aren't here right now!" he finished, puffing his chest out a little and placing his hands on his hips. Which, if you asked most of the guys at Rion's highschool, was pretty awkward pose for a guy.

"Um, okay. That doesn't make any sense," Rion said, shaking his head and walking away. "This is a dream, right?" He smacked into something hard. "...Ow. What was that?" He stepped away.

The black haired male flinched when he saw Rion crash into a wall. "That...was a wall. You should watch where you're going, and no, this isn't a dream. By the way, my name's Trace. What's your's?"

Rion snorted. "Trace...You know, you look like a fa.g." he said, referring to Trace's hair, which was thrown up in spikes in the back of his head.

Trace made a face at Rion. "Okay, let's start over. I'm Trace," He held his hand out for Rion to shake, trying to smile.

Almost reluctantly, Rion shook Trace's hand, saying, "M'name's Rion." Can't blame him for trying to get along. We might be the only beings here. he thought. As if to prove Rion wrong, a girl walked up to Trace and tackled him from behind, swinging her legs around his waist.

"Hi, Trace! You've found a new guy?" exclaimed the female, whose hair was a sort of...red-violet. Her hair was short, coming down only just under her jaw. "Hey, my name's Felicity. Odd name, I know, but-"

"Get off of me!" Trace flailed, and Felicity jumped off. "Jeez, Felicity, you're like a monkey or something." he mumbled, straightening.

"I've got to go, but let me know when he can see everything." Felicity said, grinning wide. "Then, we can take him to Cedar," And Felicity skipped off, leaving Rion partly shocked.

Rion came to his senses quickly. "I can see the wall I ran into now." he said, blinking. "What is this place?" he asked, beginning to walk. As he did, some things began appearing here and there, including a small, crystalline spring.

"Basically," Trace said slowly, lowering his gaze just the tiniest bit. "it's heaven."

Rion looked over at Trace, stopping in his tracks. As he had been walking, Rion had been holding his hand out so he could touch the leaves of the trees that appeared as he walked. The hand was still held up. "So, I'm dead?" he asked, partly believing Trace, partly not.

Trace threw his head back and laughed. Rion found it quite obnoxious. "No," he said, still laughing some. "you're not dead. You've just disapppeared, and you reappeared here."

"Um, okay?" Rion blinked, cocking his head a bit. "So, again, what is this place?"

This time, Trace didn't say something that might confuse Rion. "Here is where we have some time away from others, from life. It's a vacation away from Earth -- a holiday, maybe.

"So, the people who are sick of life appear here, and they get some time off. Whatever you want, it'll appear here. And, of course, you don't get sent to a place with people you don't like here. The area you appear in is supposed to match your interests, and since there's obviously more than two people with the same interests as you, they appear here, too, as company."

"Wow," Rion said, pushing his brown hair out of his face. "That's just...wow." And then he grinned. "So, you like-"

"I probably do," Trace said, grinning as well. "There's still going to be some things you don't have in common with someone else, so just be aware of that."

Rion chuckled, sitting down in the soft gr*censored* that he had just noticed. "Are you, like, a tour guide or something?"

"Something like that, yes." Trace sat down next to Rion, looking up at the sky. "A lot of the people here don't like to deal with the newcomers. Soemtimes, they don't believe us, so."

"I believe you," Rion blinked. "...I guess."

[ Alright, now it's done. xD ]

Awesome..... again!!! I actually wanted to know what was going to happen, not just reading it to be nice. That's a lot coming from me :) I am ordering you to continue by the way (partly kidding)

I also write stories on here, too. I'm currently writing one called "Pictures of You". And my username is not my real name. Sarah Dessen is my all-time favorite author
