The place where I live has always seemed to be a favourite spot for birds to nest.
A few years ago, there were baby robins, and now a pair of Black-Capped chickadees are making their nest in our big tree in our front yard.
My parents recently cropped the tree a bit, leaving a huge stub in one of the bigger branches.
Now, the chickadees are digging into that stub and making a nest.
Soon, they will lay their eggs there, that is, after they finish it.
They are really fun to watch, honestly.
Each day I will post a new entry about what they are doing.
I will continue this diary until the hatchlings leave their parents, and the chickadees leave to mate again.
I will also sometimes post about a striped brown bird that loves the seeds that we leave out for her.
Atleast, I think it's a her because she's awfully fat.
Certainly not because she's eating too much, we don't even give her that much in the first place.
But these are wild birds, not birds in cages. They're my only pets, even though I can't touch them, but I can watch them.

Chickadeedeedee! Chickadeedeedeee! I woke up sleepily, as I let out a long yawn. I crept out of my bed and looked out the window. No birds in sight. Usually, the robin that came to my house every year to sing at 6:00 in the morning would wake me up, but this time, it wasn't. I opened the door and watched as my mom walked out of her and my dad's room. I said groggily, "Morning." then began to walk downstairs. My sister sat on the couch, drawing. I looked outside to see two chickadees playing around on my neighbor's tree. I smiled, then sat down and curled up, nearly forcing myself not to go back to sleep.
I ran upstairs and opened the door to my parent's room. My dad was up now, so I could go look out their window to see if the chickadee's were working on my nest. Surely they had worked a bit more, for a new clumb of chunky sawdust littered the ground around my mom's daffodils and other flowers. The pair sat up in the tree fluffing themselves. They were so adorable, all fluffy like that. One flew down and stuck it's head into the hole, wiggling around, only the tip of it's tail sticking out. The other watched me. They were so used to us watching them, they didn't seem to mind us watching anymore. Just as long as you didn't bang on the window or made sudden movements. I didn't want to scare them away from here, so I sat on the bench-like ledge at the windowsill. The bird in the whole wiggled some more, and then finally, it managed to turn around in the hole and fly out. It spat out the pieces of wood on the ground, then flew up to a branch so it's mate could dig some more. I sat there for a few more minutes, then went back downstairs.

I had woke up early today. Odd, because I literally played on my D.S. until midnight last night. I even played it some more this morning. I went downstairs and had breakfast, then walked upstairs to my parent's room. The hole in our tree was bigger now, the chickadees could turn themselves around inside the hole and fly out to spit out the small bits of wood that they scraped out. They took turns, but the male seemed to do most of the work. The female just sits there and fluffs herself up, which is so adorable. I watch them for about half an hour, before they fly away into our neighbor's tree to catch bugs.
