Information about Story:

The story takes place around the end of the 1500's. It follows five main characters through their lives and how they interact with one anouther and live side by side. The setting is in France. There is a war going on between the heiarchy of France and rouge vampires who's attacking hoping to bring down the royal court so they can rule. The story is more than a story. It takes you into the character's thoughts as each of them write in a journal or their journals. It takes you through their lives as they see it not just from a narration point of view.

It is a fantasy related story only because there are vampires, werewolves, and anything else your imagination can come up with. <3

Characters:

Lorence (Loner) Silverstone

Lorence is one of the main characters. He is a vampire and is the prince of France. The king and queen adopted him and sadly he was changed within the castle one night but that didn't mean the King was willing to cast out his own son. He also knows italian and communicates that way sometimes.

Kassandra

She is Lorence's fiance and is a human. Lorence absolutly dispises her and the only reason they are engaged is because it was an arranged marriage upon his father's part.

Charles IV

The King of France and Lorence's adoptive father. He is a bit hot headed and loves his power of authority.

Chlorice

The Queen of France. She has a secret crush on the Ambassador of England. She's very caring and is like a mother figure to many of the ladies in waiting.

Isabella Rose

She is a vampire lutenient and her job is to keep the castle safe and lead their army into victory. She's the main one to fight and actually aide in trying to end this rediculous war. She is one of the main characters.

Darkain Deveraux

He is the second in command vampire who works along side Isabella. He is in charge of guarding those inside the castle such as the King and Queen. He is also Lorence's closest friend. He's anouther main character of the story.

Arthur

He is the Ambassador of England. He travels with his daughter to try to settle this war that is going on. He does not wish for it to spread into his country thus he came to France to try to make a peace deal with France and offer them aid in defeating the rouge vampires.

Cathline

She is Arthur's daughter. She is secretly a werewolf (not the kind you are thinking of). Her father does not know this since but she was born one. Her mother was one too until she died when Cathline was only 6. Cathline is also anouther main character.

Bella

Bella is the Queen of France's favorite lady in waiting. She was found in a basket upon their door step when she was just a baby. Clorice has always wanted children so she took in Bella as her own. The king however does not like Bella one bit. She's extremly clumsy. She also speaks part Italian which is what she uses when she apologizes. She's also anouther main character.

Language Translations:

Spiacente! = I'm sorry
Sont vous peur de moi? = Are you afraid of me?
Mi dispiace! = Oh my!

Sir Lorence

Do you know how annoying it is when you’re confused and know that you’re not wrong about what you’re saying? I know that feeling, It happens to me all of the time. In my world, anything that exists isn’t real. Its Surreal, and un-expecting. My name is Loner. Only Loner. I was known as Silverstone years back, but now I no longer exist to the human world. I’m misunderstood by the leader of this kingdom, King Charles IV, yet I was raised as his only son. My mate or ’slug’ as I call her, completely distracts my thoughts and mind...as she is currently doing.

Out of Loner’s blurred thoughts into a formally set room, and a young man sitting on a bed. He is only wearing his black trousers and chained leather boots. His dark locks were quite messy at the second and had very thin streaks of silver in it. There was another being in the room. It was a woman dressed in a black and red fleece shirt, with black trousers and low heeled dancing shoes.

“Lorence? You can’t lie around all day and do nothing. We have to get those varmints off of our property.” She spoke in very high slang, and made her way next to the young prince. “Are you in pain today?” She asked him in an oddly bright tone after her last statement. Her bleached blonde hair and ocean-colored eyes gleamed in the sunlight coming through the window. She could easily pass as a vampire if it weren’t for her pink cheeks. She was human, and was now making a move on the prince by touching his shoulders and leaning on his backside” Where are you hurt today...?” She asked him.

“What makes you think I’m hurt?” Loner snapped while glaring back at her, with his breath-taking rain colored eyes. His skin was eerily pale, yet it seemed to reflect off of the sun very beautifully. “Maybe its just your very presence that is bothering me...” He added to his last statement before grotesquely pulling away from her and heading into the corridor. As he did this, he was encountered by one of the knights that were under his service. This knight was very quiet, and handed him a shirt to put over his bare chest” I assume that this is not a good moment...” His voice sounded as soft as a whisper.

“Speak up. Can’t hear you” Lorence answered him while sliding his shirt on. “Never mind that. The King wishes to see you.” Dark told him before bowing and turning away from him, walking off shortly after. Loner inwardly groanedÀ deux balles!” He snapped before turning away and heading towards the King and Queen’s quarters.

--------

“Please get the Chambermaid in here; I will not have the Ambassador of England come inside, after a long horse stride, to a trashy paradise named a palace!” The Queen of France said to the messenger, who nodded and ran off quickly. “I’m sure the man deserves much more than this...” She continued her voice much softer and dreamy. Charles watched her with much resentment, hating her for her secretly cherishing the Ambassador.

The ladies in waiting sat in chairs off to the side of the queen giggling, and constantly taunting each other. “The players are coming to the kingdom, have you heard?” One of the Ladies whispered to another, and the other responded with a solemn nod. Among these ladies, was a very unique one that had her focus on writing in a small book that was in her lap. Of course, the ink had begun to spill off of the book onto her dress. She knew that the Chambermaid would complain, since she was the one who had to clean it off, but it did not matter much to her. The queen’s favorite, Bella, had been left in the Queen’s Quarters in a bread basket when she was younger.  Always wanting a daughter, she adopted her, hoping she would be in line to be a princess, but the King did not accept her wish.

“Bella? Would you please come to me?” Clorice, the queen, asked while motioning her long hands to Bella. Bella quickly closed her Day book and her bottle of ink” Yes, your majesty! Right away..” She said while gracefully standing up and walking up the short stairway, leading to the Queen’s seating place. “I want your personal opinion. Shall the Grand hallway change for the wintertime? A blue hue maybe…” Clorice said to Bella while moving her hand about in a calm manner. Bella paused for a moment” Um...I like the idea” She said to the Queen while turning back to the Ladies in waiting, wondering why a long stream of giggles and squeals were coming out of their snort-holes. She bowed to the queen and had started to get back on her feet but stepped on the bottom of her dress while trying to stand, and fell. Her ink bottle fell on the edge of the stair case, splattering everywhere on the King and Sir Lorence and interrupting their conversation. Clorice sighed deeply while Bella came out with a stream of apologizes. Mi dispiace! Spiacente! Spiacente!”

The king waved them off while Loner touched his shirt with his hand and looked at it” Permanent..” He mumbled before glancing over at Bella. The Queen looked at her Ladies in Waiting, who were watching her step-son. “Out! Out! Out! Out; to your chambers, now!” She shouted at them. The girls made their way out of the room as fast as they could while Bella made her way away from the queen and down the stairs.  Clorice smiled “Do not worry, child. The Chambermaid is on her way now to clean this up. You may go up to your room with the other girls now” She told her. Bella nodded before slowly turning away from the queen and trying her best not to meet eyes with the King or Lorence. The king cleared his throat, and Bella looked over at him, receiving an unfriendly glare, but then looked at Lorence who had absolutely on emotion. So much for not worrying... She thought before continuing out of the room.

Twilight Hour

“You’re going to ignore the crisis going on; only miles away from here aren’t you?” Isabella Rose stated while leaning against the large fountain in the enormous courtyard. It was dark outside at this time, with only the lighting of the left-over lightening of the sky and the glow of Fireflies flying everywhere.  She was talking to the Vampire knight, Darkain, leader of the Calvary. She was the Lieutenant of the Calvary, and disagreed with most of the decisions he made. “Are you not listening to what I am saying?” She snapped this time, getting his attention away from the sky.  “I’m sorry. What did you say?” He asked in a soft tone while listening now.

“I said that there is a crisis going on. Many of our own are being killed out there, by these wretched creatures, Humans. The name of them sickens me…” She snarled. Darkain only stared at her, inwardly wondering whether or not she was aware that they worked for them.  “They’re not bad...Isabella. They’re only protecting their own. The others are the ones attacking...”He explained to them. It was then that Isabella approached him and stood face to face with him. “Do not use my first name. Your going against your own...remember that, Deveraux.” She said to him in a soft tone before fiercely turning away and walking back in through the gates of the castle.

Being torn in between what you think is right, and what others believe is wrong can disturb the mind of a human. But in the mind of a Creature, a vampire to be exact, it is a very serious matter that needs to be handled immediately. Would I be repelling my own if I decided to defend the humans? Or would I commit treason by turning on the humans? No. I would do neither... I will do absolutely...

Nothing,

Midnight

I could have sworn I heard something walk past my room. It wasn’t a guard; no, it was something much different. The scent... It was human; covered in nothing but blood. The blood was very unfamiliar, rotten, and the faint smell of discomposure filled my nostrils. Sitting up with much ease, and sliding off of my bed, I took careful steps to the door while trying to think back to when the wretch (Kassandra) ended up in my Quarters, better yet, my bed. Planning to interrogate later I continued out of the door, and followed the stains of blood that were on the cement floor. It was pitched black down the grand hallway and, the droppings of blood had began to pool out on the cement, gaining the size of my foot now. I reached the source, lying on the ground now “What the hell?” I whispered while now approaching the human that appeared to be dead. Just as I touched it and tried to turn it around...

Every source of light in the castle turned on, and Lorence looks around aimlessly. The guards are standing next to the Entrance door, staring at him as he stands there.  He looked around for the source of blood or a human, but nothing is there.  Sighing, he turned away and walks back to his Quarters.

“I am not going insane. I know what I saw...” Loner muttered while now sitting down in his room. He looked around at everything, feeling as though something wasn’t quite right yet. He then glanced down at Kassandra who stared up at him. “And you. You are not allowed in here at this time of hour without my permission, have you gone mad?” He asked her while she shrugged” The door was open. Shouldn’t I be asking YOU the questions about going mad!? You’re the one pacing around, as if there is something so important on your mind right now. You’re also speaking to yourself!” Kassandra said to him in an irritated tone.

Lorence smirked at her” I’m sorry dear. Do you believe that I am mentally unstable?” He asked her. Kassandra shook her head” No. You’re just arsed.” She told him, before getting up and walking to the door.

Chambers of the Ladies in waiting

I can’t believe. I spilled ink; on the prince, and the king, and got away with it. The other girls are driving me mad about it! They’re constantly saying that I did it on purpose! Why would I do it on purpose, for there was no purposeful need! They talk unimportant matters like the players, and their wonderful plays. One thing that worries me is if the Queen finds another abandoned child, but only better than I.

“Lady Sienna? Your surely not planning to leave the Chamber this late in the hour without your escort are you?.” Veronica said from her bed while watching one of the youngest ladies walk to the door. Sienna turned her gaze back at the other women” I am only going to the washroom...I’ll be right back.” She muttered before opening the door and walking out of the room. Bella looked away from her book, towards the door. Veronica sighed while glancing down at her sheets.” I hope she will come back...”She mumbled while looking up at the glass decorated ceiling, “Lord, please keep her safe...”She whispered.

“Safe from what?” Bella asked with much curiosity, delicate in her voice.

“Over the years that I’ve served as a Lady in Waiting, and Maid of honor, a few maidens have disappeared from the castle. It is one of the reasons this war started...” Veronica explained to Bella.

“The women were found, miles off of the castle grounds, many of their bodies were found decomposing or freshly laid under the Caves of Hell. It is believed that the vampire creatures killed them, because on each of the bodies, there was an imprint of two holes on the brinks of their necks. This is the reason that the queen hired escorts for each of us so we wouldn’t be left alone in the castle.” Veronica explained.

Bella had her day book in her lap and had bitten on the tip of her feathered pen. “My, that is frightening. Should we check on her?” She asked her. Veronica slowly shook her head” No, let her be.  If she has not returned within 8 minutes I will call for a search.” She told Bella. “Are you aware that the prince is also a vampire?” Veronica asked. Many of the other women in the room turned their attention upon their conversation. “That’s absurd!”  “You are not serious!” “Stop fibbing!” They said to Veronica. Bella continued to listen while starting to write in her daybooke again.” No, I didn’t know...”She answered truthfully.

“Oh no, it is not absurd at all. It is the truth...”Veronica answered the other girls before turning her eyes back to Bella, “The King and Queen kept him after he was bitten only so that the Vampires wouldn’t attack the castle.  He also thinks he has been recently bitten...”Veronica explained to Bella. “The knight is one as well. I really have no real information about him yet. What are you writing young one?”

The castle has inhabitants in it. Two of them are vampires, why didn’t the Queen warn us before about this? It is unsafe...maybe. But it was her choice, therefore it doesn’t matter what happens in the end. Maybe the two are trained to not bite humans, or maybe they dislike human blood. Those thoughts could be contaminated, that’s completely absurd. I believe I need rest now... I am completely overwhelmed by all of this. Lady Sienna hasn’t returned yet either. My worry is, what if the person committing the murders of the ladies are...

One of them...

At the Castle's Gate

Something is coming. Close the gates after the ambassadors arrive. No exceptions of letting anyone through.” Darkain ordered after being overcome by déjà vu as he circled the fortified outskirts of the castle.  There was no sense of worry in his demeanor but many of the other members of cavalry argued with the decision. “Are you mad?! My wife and little chiltings are out there in the town! How do you expect me to protect them from those parasites out there?!” One of them shouted at him. Darkain watched the man for a very long time”You have permission to leave. Just never come back.”  He told him before turning and walking down into the dungeon area.

He passed through the many cells with skeletons of former prisoners inside. After reaching the subdivision where the castle had it’s water supply pass through; he sat down against the wall while watching the water struggle against the cemented walls and seep through the bars connected to the wall. “Your going against your own, remember that…Deveraux.” Isabella’s words echoed in his mind, placing him deeper into his thoughts. Before he knew it, he had been down there for more than 2 hours, and one of his men surprised him by suddenly popping up out of nowhere. “Sir! The Ambassador from England has arrived!”

Exiting the sub-division of the castle, Darkain stopped near the castle entrance and watched as his men opened the drawbridge for an army of 250 men and two nobles on horses. One of them, the ambassador, was middle aged and wore red and navy clothes. His hair was blonde and he eyed Darkain questioningly “Excuse me sire, are you leading this band of cavalry?” He asked while stopping his horse in the middle of the drawbridge. The other being on the black stallion horse gave an irritated stare at the man in front of her. She was much younger, in appearance than he was but was also covered by mounds of winter clothing. “Why yes, I am.” Darkain answered the ambassador as he bowed a little, “If I must say, you are doing an often horrible job of commanding them.” With that said, the ambassador continued into the castle without another word.” My apologizes…”Darkain told him before bowing to the mistress that rode on another horse after him.

She smiled behind the scarf that covered her mouth and neck before raising one hand in greeting to him. The disadvantage of doing this while riding on a stallion was, she lost her balance and fell off of the back of the horse. Before she was able to hit the ground of course, all of the men in the army were scrambling toward her and shouting many sounds of fear. Only one was able to catch her fall. Darkain held her up before any spec of dirt could reach her body and asked” Are you alright?” She stared at him for a moment before starting to reach balance on top of her horse as he helped her back on it. “I’m fine.” She said in an independent tone before smiling again.” Just…fine. Thank you.” She told him before starting off after her father who had already gotten off of his horse and had been going on about her getting dirty” Cathline! You have to be much more careful than you are! I would kill myself if you were bitten by anything.” Her father, Arthur told her as they were lead to their quarters by 4 guardsmen.

“Such a beautiful young maiden the ambassador has risen.”

“Her smile was like the sun rising from the eastern lands!”

“You couldn’t see her smile!”

“She was wearing a scarf you sad arse.”

“Who are you calling an arse you---“

The men’s argument over Cathline’s smile was interrupted by the sound of Isabella returning to the front of the castle and yawning. “Look at what the depths of hell coughed out…”One of the men whispered to the other. Isabella ignored his comment and circled them at the speed of a turtle.” What are you all buffering about? You’re supposed to be guarding the castle, not arguing over something repulsive!” As she continued to place the group of men into a state of disappointment, Darkain was off to the side near the riverbed out of range of hearing.  “A wolf entering the castle; I wonder what sire Lorence will have to say about that…”

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning! Today we are supposed to visit the poor people in town and give them gifts. I love this holiday because it reminds me of the time the queen took me in as one of the Maids of Honor as a child. I would have been one of them if not for her. I have a gift for the queen once again this year. I hope she’d accept it this year, its too important that she has it.

December, 25th, 1597

Bella closed her daybook before sliding it under her chamber bed and scampering off to the door wearing a bright aqua blue colored dress with a aqua blue hat, decorated with white roses around it. She smiled after noticing that no one had been around in the hallways and lifted the large bundle around her waist before starting to sprint towards the Royal room where the Queen and the King resided. Lorence had been watching her from the shadows of the stairway and felt amused. “Wait! Watch your---“ His words were cut short after she slipped on the small carpet that was in the middle of the grand hallway and fell flat on her face. “Step” He ended unfortunately late. He gracefully walked over to her and pulled her to her feet” Are you alright?” He asked while picking up the small container she had dropped and placing it into the palm of her hand.

Bella hesitated before answering himYes, I’m alright. Thank you…” She hesitated again before bowing shortly after. “Spiacente, prince Lorence. ’’ She said. Lorence was once again amused, before he used one of his icy palms to lift her chin. “You don’t have to bow nor apologize Lady Bella.” He told her giving a strangely cold smile to her. His hand startled her as it touched her chin, making her jump at his touch. As she looked up at his face, she felt frozen in place. His eyes, the color of angels’ tears that rain upon the earth stared back down at her, without the cold grin on his face any longer. His ex
pression looked amazed. Bella was still in a trance of his eyes while he was in a trance of her azure blue eyes that glimmered through the sunlight reflecting off of the glass mirrors and her midnight colored hair. Absentmindedly he leant in closer until they were only an inch away and was only a centimeter away from her lips before someone came inside.

Bella jumped in an instant and looked around for the prince that was originally there. “Bella? Are you almost ready to leave?” Queen Clorice asked her Lady in wait. Bella was dumbfounded because there was no trace of him left behind.” Oh yes, my Queen.” She told her, bowing and gracefully walking over to her. “My Queen, Merry Christmas. Please take this gift out of my gratitude for all you have done for me.” Bella told the queen while on her knees and holding the container up towards to Queen. Clorice softly smiled down at her before pulling Bella to her feet again” Dear… I have all I can ever want from you and all of the other ladies in waiting. You are all like daughters to me; there is no better gift you can give that you have not already given.” She explained.

Bella stared up at the queen with a blank face. Within a second she broke into hugging her “Thank you…for everything” She told her before she quickly released her and went back to her knees.” Spiacente! Spiacente!....”She told her while the Queen laughed. “Let us make our leave now.” She told her before starting away, into the grand hallway. Bella was happy that the queen showed that she actually loved her, but there were two things that disappointed her. The gift she had prepared for the queen was now wasted; not only that, but she missed her first and maybe last kiss.

The Courtyard

“What in the hell is my problem?!” Lorence was infuriated with himself as he paced around the courtyard wondering why he almost broke a marital promise and kissed Bella. He glanced over at Darkain who had finally freed himself of his armor after a good 15 hours of carrying over 200 pounds of metal on his back. He was laid out on the ground wearing his baggy black cloth trousers (Review: They’re pants) and his chain mail covered his hands and arms fully along with his chest up to his neck. He gazed at the sky before him, barely even awake from the long night shift of guarding the castle. “Are you even listening to me?” Lorence questioned Darkain while walking over to him and standing over him. He looked disappointed, which made Darkain feel the slightest bit of sympathy for him. The sympathy did not show any remorse in his attitude.

“Not at all Sir Lorence…”He answered before looking in the opposite direction away from him. Lorence groaned before kicking him in the side,” You didn’t have to be honest you idiot.” He snarled before turning away from him. “There he is, once again, slacking off on his job.’’ Cathline’s father, the Ambassador said while standing at the courtyard doors with 5 guardsmen and the king of France. “I feel completely unprotected in this castle your highness.” He added while looking at Charles of France. Charles nodded to the Ambassador before looking at Darkain who had now stood in his place, ready to take anything they had to say.

“Sire Darkain, I will assign you a mission that you must complete if you wish to stay in this kingdom. You must protect the Ambassador’s daughter while they are still here visiting our palace. If you fail this mission you will be put to death.” He told him. As badly as Darkain wanted to smile, he kept his composure in front of Charles.” I promise you Sir Arthur that I will protect your daughter with my….life.” When Darkain completed his words, there was a brief moment of silence. Lorence broke the silence by laughing; His father gave an unpleasant glare in his direction, “Laurence, be silent.”

The Garden

Its so beautiful… Cathline thought as she looked around the garden while sitting on a large fountain that had a statue of Hermes on top of it. To keep her company, she had a few ladies in waiting that were supposed to be with the Queen but decided to stay behind with Cathline. Veronica sat next to her wearing an all black dress and hat on her head and had a black fan in her hand. She looked stern, but her red curls hung from her hat, layered beautifully made her look innocent. Cathline looked away from Veronica onto Kassandra whom had been sitting next to her. Kassandra was a beautiful girl but loved to show how beautiful she was, and to brag and gloat all day and everyday about it. She also bragged about marrying the handsome prince. Overall, Cathline felt as though the two women were a bit too stern for her taste in conversation, and self concerned with their overly dressed clothing and curly hair. She thought about how her hair would look if it were like that and shook her head.

“Excuse me, Lady Cathline?"

Christmas Night

A cold Christmas night, 1597

We have just returned to the castle after visiting the peasants in the village below the hill. Just as we were returning to the castle a horde of vampires attacked our fleet of army. Many of them were killed, but luckily we made it to the castle before we were attacked and the main army took over the fight. That was the first time I had ever seen a dead body. It was quite repulsive and made me a little nauseated.

ript'; font-size: 14pt">Lady Bella

“Get inside! Help the queen off of the horse! Hurry it up you idiots!!!” One of the cavalry men shouted while Darkain and Isabella hurried to the front of the gate. After pummeling a band of rogue and undomesticated vampires, they thought they were finished with the bunch. “I’ll go on ahead into the forests and stop the few that are there.” Isabella told Darkain before brushing through the trees as fast as she could. He watched her go ahead and started into the opposite direction, to the town. Of course, the town was stable for the time being. There was no sign of chaotic beings inside. He turned back to where the palace was located and looked towards the woods. He thought about the Christmas morning…  “Excuse me, Lady Cathline?” Darkain called from the exit of the courtyard that leads to the garden. He stood at the door, with a red shirt and what he had on only moments before while talking to Charles.

Cathline turned her attention back to the garden door, simultaneously as Veronica and Kassandra did. “Uh, yes?” She answered before getting up and walking to the garden door. “Such a posture” Kassandra gasped as she saw how ungraceful and typical Cathline’s walk was. Veronica gasped as well, “Is that even allowed?” She asked Kassandra. “Is what allowed? Her walk? Of course not!” She told her. Veronica slowly shook her head at her answer

”No, suitors. I thought the queen initiated that those were not allowed and that everyone should be directly married.”Cathline’s left ear twitched because she over-heard what the other females were talking about. ”What is it?” She asked Darkain who stood tall over her, and with how pale he was and scent, she guessed he was also a parasite. “I’m afraid that your father has chosen me as your safeguard. Other words, I’ll be around you a bit more often than other guards. Is that alright?” He asked her. Cathline felt a bit of anger built on her insides because of the thought of being overprotected. She wasn’t angry at Darkain, it was her father she was angry at. “No, it isn’t alright. I can protect myself thank you.” She told him.

“What is going on?” Veronica whispered to Kassandra while Kassandra grinned”Maybe he dumped her” She whispered back to Veronica. Cathline was starting to turn into a tomato,”Would you two please, hold your tongues?” She asked in a sweet but venomous tone.

The two stopped their talking at once, and nodded to her. Darkain watched her” Mes excuses…”He apologized before bowing to her and taking her hand “I will do as you wish Miss Cathline, but always know that you’re safe here.” Cathline paused at his words before overhearing the girl’s giggles echo the garden”…Alright.” She told him before he released her hand and stood again. ”Farewell…” With that said, he left the garden. Cathline stood there to make sure he had completely left and glanced back at the other two whom were sitting on the statue. ”Now, I have to talk to you two…”

Biogradska: The Montenegro Forest

Isabella Rose ran through the forest and used her claws to shred each and every creature that came at her. She was out of energy she would admit, but it did not stop her in the past, and wouldn’t stop her now. “Come on you idiots! I know you can do much better than that!” She shrieked at the very few that were attacking her. “Amateur newborns!” She teased.

“You know… Its not very lady-like to tease someone after you just obliterated their insides.” A voice coming out of nowhere at all told her. It was a male voice, but she couldn’t make out where it was coming from. ”Who are you?!” She called. “Who I am is none of your concern, Isabella. I only wish to talk to you.” He told her. “I’m listening!” Isabella yelled while looking around.

Strangely, there were no more vampires around her, nor attacking. “Why do you wish to fight your own family? Doesn’t the thought of it hurt you at all?” “You don’t know anything! I’m not hurting my family! I’m protecting another creature that they are hurting!” Isabella told him, while starting to feel a bit overcome by something. She couldn’t move anymore, “Wait, what are you doing?!” She said while looking around again and noticing that a lot of vampires that she recognized started to emerge from the shadows of the trees. “You’ve had your fun, now I believe it is time for you to be silenced eternally.” The male voice said to her.

Just as that was said, large hordes of vampires charged at Isabella and started attacking her.  As many more came to attack her, a creature jumped out of the shadows and clawed at them. Isabella looked up and noticed that the creature was a wolf with golden fur, wearing a silver necklace that had a lit amethyst charm around her neck. The wolf looked up to reveal eyes as blue as the sea, and let out a large howl. Isabella made a face before looking around at the many more parasites left. They came at her again, causing her to let out a shriek of pain and now, land on the ground. She huffed before trying to push herself up again, and her attempt failed. She managed to roll on her backside to look at the sky, for what she thought would be the last time. There was a man standing in front of her; although she could not tell exactly whom he was. The only thing she could remember about him was the fact that his hair had a green hue to it. After that, everything went black.

“Isabella, please wake up…”

“I don’t want to die…”

“We need a lieutenant! If you don’t wake up, the general will make us go out there all alone!”

“I don’t want to die…”

“You’re strong! You’ll make it through this!”

“I don’t want to die…”

“Henry be quiet!”

“But I don’t want to die!”

Isabella woke up to the sound of her human comrades whining and mourning over her being hurt. ”You’re supposed to be men aren’t you?! Suck it up and tell me what happened!” She demanded. Henry nodded before kneeling next to Isabella and looking at her.” Sire Darkain found you in the forest being attacked and saved you…” He told her.  Isabella stared at him and then down at herself before gathering her cloth tunic and sliding her pants back on. She had her wounds that were healing quickly, wrapped in cloth. “Alright; back to the front lines you fools…” She told them before walking out of the chamber she previously lay in.

I’ve done what I could to help them…

Cathline thought about sneaking out of the palace again to see if the two were still alive, but thought it would fail at attempt this time. The gates were heavily guarded by all of the soldiers in cavalry, and were not being opened for a very long time for anyone. If you wished to cross the gate, they would throw you over the moat. Inside her room she changed her into her human form and touched the necklace she wore”…Mother.” She thought about her mother, going into a trance of thoughts. “Cathline, open this door at this instant!” Her father called, outside of the doors of her room. Cathline was startled and headed to the door, but she was in shock once she looked down at herself. “Oh no…” She whispered before searching the room for her nightgown to sleep in. Finally, she found it under her bed and slipped it on.

CATHLINE OPEN THE DOOR OR I’M BARGI---“Her father started to yell, but before he could finish she had opened the door. “Yes father?” She asked, with her tone as soft as a pillow. “I was just making sure you were in here dear, nothing major to talk about.” Arthur told his daughter before leaning up and kissing her on the forehead. He was a short and petite man when he was off of his horse. He turned away from his daughter and walked towards his chambers once again. Cathline closed the door of her room and sighed in relief.

”That was close…”

The Royal Room

December, 26th, 1597

Yesterday had to be the longest time I have ever been revealed to excitement in my life. I was so scared…I thought we were going to be attacked by the creatures in the outside world! I have calmed down, but I am still quite fidgety. The prince… He is in here with the queen and King, along with the ladies in waiting and I. He won’t look at me, but I’m starting to wonder why I’m looking at him. If he is looking at me, then it may be when I am not sneaking a glance…Or was it all just my imagination taking over? No! I’m not crazy. He was going to kiss or bite me, I know that much for a fact. It hurts to think that he was going to bite me…but maybe that was what was meant to happen.

Bella closed her day book before looking up to the queen who spoke openly to her husband. “You believe I am fancying the Ambassador of England? How absurd!” The queen exclaimed at her husband who sat in his chair, pouting along.” You talk as if you like him…”He said in a voice that was muffled by his shirt collar. He stared at Bella, who started to fidget under his gaze. “Bella; please stand and slowly walk over to the middle of the floor.” He demanded. Bella felt a cast of anxiety fill her body the moment he told her to do it. She stood and started to walk, slowly and gracefully over to the middle of the floor. “We don’t live forever.” The king snarled, making her move a little faster. Lorence looked away from his father, into the direction of Bella, wondering what he was going to make her do. “Laurence, move forward” His father directed him while gesturing with his hand towards Bella.

Lorence made a face at his father before walking towards Bella.  “You two never wished me a happy Christmas yesterday. I believe that is the cause of my Christmas going quite dreadfully. So as my belated gift, I would like for you two to dance.” Charles announced. Clorice looked disappointed at him before giving Bella thumbs up and a golden smile. Bella had no reaction to this, she expected something as bad as this was. “With no music?” Lorence asked with a devious grin as he casually placed one hand on Bella’s side while the other was on her hand.

All of the females off to the side, Veronica, Kassandra, and others that were servants of the queen gaped. The king nodded, “No music.” He told them while crossing one leg over the other. “Fine.” Lorence answered him before turning back to Bella, whom was actually a little afraid after her last journal entry thoughts. She stared up at him, with immense curious eyes wondering if he would really bite her. He knew what her thoughts were. They hadn’t started moving at all, and it was bothering him a bit. “Sont vous peur de moi?” He asked her in a low tone so no one but she would hear. Bella was shocked at his words but quickly denied it” No…Of course not.” She answered before the king boomed for them to start dancing.

Finally, some music had started and Lorence whispered a “Follow me.” To Bella before pulling her closer to him. He then gently tried to push her back a little so she’d move back. Bella, thoughtfully moved back from him, with her hand on his shoulder and her other hand in his gloved hand. He then moved to the left, hoping she’d follow. She accidently stepped on his foot, and bit her lower lip” I’m sorry…” She whispered while he shook his head” Don’t worry about it.” They continued on like this until the music stopped.

When the music stopped they stood in the posture that they were dancing in and stared at each other for a long moment. “Alright you two, enough with the intake on love.” Charles told them with a huff as he crossed his arms. As the king said this, Bella felt herself turning into a spiced tomato. “Lorence release my lady this instant!” The queen pretended to be angry, when really she was intrigued by this. After his mother told him to release Bella, he quickly removed his hands from the premises of her and started back to his father to stand beside him. Bella was still a tomato as she made her way back to her seat next to Veronica. She could feel Kassandra’s eyes burning a hole into her skull as she glanced down at her shoes.

Only moments after the King’s entertainment ended did the Ambassador and Cathline enter the room. “Good morning Charlie. How has your morning gone so far?” Arthur asked him while stopping in the middle of the large room, standing on top of a black and maroon colored decoration that stood out on the brown floor. Cathline was standing off to the side, away from her father.  She had a burgundy colored hood above her head that covered her hair but shown her facial features. King Charles IV grinned at Arthur” My morning has gone quite soothingly before you entered the room.” He answered.

While their fathers went back and forth with each other, Lorence sniffed the air a little before looking over at Cathline. He raised an eyebrow at her while she avoided gazes with him. He moved closer to her now, and sniffed her hood a bit. He then moved on the other side and did it again. Cathline felt her face flush at this as the queen watched them with a questioning face. The ladies in waiting watched them too and started to giggle at his actions. Lorence used his right hand to poke her shoulder before double sniffing again. He knew something wasn’t right; she had the scent of a wolf, yet looked like a human. Cathline let out a low growl as warning for him to stop, or else. Lorence took heed of this warning and slowly moved away from her, aiming for the door. He then grinned and waved to her, before turning and walking down the hallway.

The Gates of Chambord Castle

December, 27th, 1597

Its been two days since the last attack on the castle. Whenever I think on it, its so uncommon and doesn’t add up. Who told the others about the nobles being out of their castle? It was surely not obvious. I wonder what their next move will be…

“Hey, Deveraux…” Isabella called out as she ran to the drawbridge where Darkain sat on the edge between the moat and the other side of the land that lead to the village. “Yes Rose?” Darkain answered with no emotion. Isabella stopped at the running and stared at the back of him, wondering why he called her that. “You can use my first name.” She told him while now walking up next to him and looking down at the gate she leant on. “You told me not to use your first name.” Darkain reminded her without looking away from the bridge. Isabella narrowed her eyes at him,” Well now I’m telling you to use it.” She snapped.

Darkain was expecting as much and decided on saying nothing at all. He had so many thoughts racing through his mind like Trojan horses across a race-field. “So what is on your mind…?” Isabella asked, trying to start some sort of small talk. “Nothing.” He answered bleakly while giving her a funny look. “Are you feeling well?” He asked her. Isabella’s face tensed when he asked her that, and she looked away from him while leaning on the bridge.

”I just came here to say…”She froze in her words, wondering the best way to say it. Darkain watched her, wondering if she’d spit it out. “That… I…” Isabella tried again and bit her lower lip. “Take your time.” Darkain told her while looking at his hand. Isabella huffed before saying anything else.” Thank you for saving me two days ago… You could have left me there.” She said while glancing at the ground. Darkain watched her, before getting off of the edge of the gate and walking over to her. He leveled with her and pulled her chin up.” You don’t have to thank me for what I did. You’re my partner; I’m supposed to do things like that.” He told her before releasing her chin and turning away. He walked into the castle, leaving Isabella with a feeling even she couldn’t understand.

The Grand Hall's Stairway

Cathline exited the Royal room after a 3 hour meeting with the King, Queen, and her own father about the vampires. She couldn’t take the talk anymore; she then decided to find the prince that had gotten kicks out of sniffing her. She wanted to question, no; interrogate him for doing such a thing in-front of their parents. As she continued down a red carpet she saw a black figure flow smoothly across the floor and decided to go after it. “Hey!!! Who are you?!” She shouted while running after the figure that now disappeared into the shadows. She smirked before walking towards the blackness and deciding to go into her wolf form, but before she could her mouth was covered by someone. “Shhh!” Lorence was behind Cathline with a look of irritation. He removed his hand from her mouth finally and looked at her “Why are you so loud?” he whispered in question as he tensed a bit at the sight of Kassandra.

“Sir Lorence! Where have you run off to now?” She called out for him. Lorence shivered at this, while Cathline smiled while standing there. Kassandra noticed her and ran over.” Hey, have you seen the prince anywhere? I wasn’t done with him…”She told her with a positive smile. Cathline nodded to her with a smile.” Why yes, I just saw him run that way. “She pointed to the right, which led to the front door of the castle. Kassandra nodded to her before running to the door again. “Lorence! I’m coming for you!”

Lorence peeked over Cathline’s shoulder and smiled” Thank you Lady Cathline. I owe you one.” He then turned and started to walk away before she grabbed his arm and pulled him back. “I have two questions for you.” She told him. “Fire away as fast as you can; I have to run.” Lorence told her while making sure Kassandra wasn’t coming back yet. “Gladly, my first question is why are you running away from your fiancé?” She asked. “She kissed me…” Lorence told Cathline, his tone sounding like a snake’s hiss. “I was staring at her mouth because she had spinach stuck in her teeth and she had the wrong impression.” He explained a bit more in detail.

Cathline could not hold in any laughter, and Lorence noticed Kassandra coming back into the castle. “My second question is…”Cathline started while pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. “Why did you sniff me in front of our parents like that two days earlier?” She asked him while folding her arms. Lorence bit his lower lip before answering, “There is something strange about you…” He said before dashing away from her. “But that didn’t answer my question!!!” Cathline called after him before letting out a huff because he had left.

The Sleeping Fellow

Cathline stood by the entrance of the courtyard and noticed someone unconscious on the ground. It was a guy of course, but she did not recognize him. “Excuse me sir, are you alright?” She asked him while walking over to him.

“Excuse me? Are you alright?” She repeated as she knelt next to him and touched his face. “Hes sleeping…”She thought. At the moment she touched the male’s face, her hand was grabbed by his chain mail covered hand.” Good morning to you too Lady Cathline…” Darkain said to her while sitting up and kissing her hand. Cathline was startled by this and stood back up again, finally recognizing whom he actually was. “I disturbed your sleep… Sorry. I thought you were someone that needed help. I didn’t recognize you…” She told him while watching him.

“Without my armor on I would admit I look different.” Darkain wasn’t wearing his armor at the moment and wore his cloth pants and chain mail. He stared at his armor beside him, “Don’t apologize, it is fine.” He told her before attempting to smile.

Cathline smiled back and sat on the fountain nearby. “Sir Deveraux, if someone sniffs you continually until you tell them to stop…what does that mean?” She asked him. “It means that they love your scent.” Darkain answered while peeling some debris off of his armor. “Really…?” Cathline asked while staring at her hands and then glancing down at the necklace she had.

“I believe so.” Darkain told her while looking up at her, “If it’s a freaky person I wouldn’t think much of it. If I may ask, who did such a thing?”

“Prince Lorence…” Cathline told him while looking back up at him.

“Do not ponder it for very long then.” Darkain told her before getting up and sitting next to her. Cathline chuckled, noticing the silent message behind his words.

The Clock Tower

A cold December night,

Today was absolutely unexciting. Nothing out of the ordinary happened. The Queen made the other girls and I, practice our balance in the courtyard. The girls did swell, I did better than I expected. I made it to the fountain with 2 out of all 8 books that were on my head still on my head; then I tripped on my dress and fell into the fountain. I didn’t manage to break my neck, although the girls were laughing. The Queen did not laugh, she just sighed and walked out of the courtyard. I feel as though I disappoint her sometimes…

I almost forgot the most interesting part of today! Kassandra had chased the prince around the entire castle after they kissed in the dining room. Apparently he didn’t like it very much…

 ript'; font-size: 14pt">Lady Bella

“Excuse me…Lady Bella?”

And right before my eyes is the one want to see…

“Yes Sir Lorence?”

Lorence entered the Clock Tower room with an emotionless face he seemed to try and hold while walked over to the window. Bella could somehow feel that he was tense, but did not ask what the matter was. “What is the best thing that happened to you today?” He asked her while gazing out of the window. Bella thought about his question, also about why he asked her. She made her way to the window beside him and looked out as well. “Having sugared apricots for dessert.” She answered honestly. She took a peek at him standing next to her, and flinched a bit at how antagonized his ex
pression was. “Alright, thank you for telling me…”He told her.

Bella watched him for a moment longer before biting her lower lip and looking out of the window. “Well… farewell tonight.” She told him while now starting to walk to the door. Lorence snapped out of his daze he had out of the window and gently grabbed her arm, starting to slowly pull her back. “Don’t leave me…please.” He said in a pleading voice as he pulled her into a hug.

Bella had been a variety of things at that moment. He is so cold… was Bella’s first thoughts as he hugged her. She didn’t know if she should hug him back or not, but she did in fact wrap her arms around him. Why am I hugging him? She thought again while she looked at him. She couldn’t see his face, because it was over her shoulder. What is with him? She inhaled and then exhaled. “Are you alright Sir Lorence?” She asked him with a soft voice. “Now I am…” He answered her quickly. “That’s good to hear.” Bella answered again, while wondering why he was still hugging her. It isn’t that I mind him giving me a hug but what if we’re caught up here? I would surely be kicked out of the castle or killed!

The thought of being killed over this made her shiver and loosen the hug from him. Lorence let go of her as well and looked at the ground” I’m sorry…” He told her, honestly before looking back up at her. “I had a pretty bad day… I just needed to cool off.” He told her before smiling. Bella watched him before deciding to answer, “There was no problem… You’re actually very cold.” She told him, soon regretting that comment and blushing at it. “Spiacente…” She apologized. Lorence smirked and lifted her chin as he did once before, “You do not have to apologize to me.” He told her again. “Spiac---“ Bella cut herself off from apologizing again and only bowed, “Okay your highness.” She told him. “That’s even worst.” He said with a frown.

Bella bit her lip, “Spiacen—“ her apology was cut off this time by him gently kissing her on the lips. He released her five seconds after it was done. Bella’s reaction was a bit drifty, but she left as soon as she was released. “Goodnight Bella.” He said to her. “Goodnight Sir Lorence…” She said in a nervous tone while now waddling to the door. I’m definitely dead now… She thought while waddling down the stairs. Lorence peeked out of the clock tower room to make sure she wouldn’t fall off of the stairs.

She made it down safely, and walked to the Chambers of the ladies in waiting. As she entered the room, she was eyed by all of the women in the room as she dove on her bed. “Where have you been?” Kassandra asked while crossing her arms. “Clock tower” Bella answered, muffled into the pillows. “With whom?” Kassandra questioned with a grin. Bella turned over on her back in a dreamy-like state.

“With someone”

Thank you for reading!!

I'm sorry I left it as a cliffhanger.

It is for a contest only.

I do not know if I want to persue the rest of this story or not so for now it sits just like this.
