Here’s a little bit of writing. Feel free to read and
critique c:

I ended up getting blocks here and there, so I understand if you judge it hard.
I appreciate it, though. I like to know how I can improve and what I’m doing
wrong.

“He broke up with me.”

A long expanse of silence was disturbed, like a single drop falling into a
pool, causing the water below to shiver uncomfortably.

“What?” A second voice sounded caught off guard, even startled.

“Derek. He left me, Seline.” There was dryness to the voice, a sort of tense tone
that suggested restrained emotions.

The two girls were lying beside each other on a cold
basement floor. Darkness covered the room like a sheet, save for some unknown
electronic device casting an eerie greenish light in intervals. The shorter of
the two’s green eyes filled with concern for her friend. She was a full-figured
creature with round cheeks and romantic lips, waves of dark hair cascading
about her shoulders and down her back and a pleasantly shaped nose. She was the
sort of being who could hold herself so as to make her curves shift sensuously
as she moved, whether she believed this or not.

Her companion was a taller, thinner adolescent with short
wispy feathers of hair that swooped over her brilliant light blue eyes. They
were the color of icebergs, and when the sun hit them, they sparkled with
silver and white, black flecks floating within the pale oceans, tossed about by
waves splashed aqua. But there was no brilliance in them now. They were dark,
troubled, fixed into a hard stare into nothingness.

“I’m so sorry, Rowen,” murmured Seline in her soft, pleasant
voice. “I don’t know why he would do something like that.” She was uncertain as
to what would be appropriate to say. It was hard to gauge her friend’s emotions
towards the situation, and the green-eyed youth was doing her best to be
cautious. Rowen had, after all, been with Derek for quite some time, in terms
of high school relationships. Three months.

“It’s because I’m not good enough.” There was a bitterness,
a venom, that poisoned her response. She cast a stormy look at the ceiling and
fell silent. A frown pulled down on Seline’s lips, her brow pinching together.

“Don’t be ridiculous. You’re more than good enough for him, Rowen. If he didn’t
appreciate how great you are he wasn’t worth your time.”

“It’s because I’m stupid.” It was as if she hadn’t heard the young woman at her
side. Seline looked on incredulously, and shook her head.

“You aren’t at all! If anyone is stupid, it’s him. Not you. You’re one of the
smartest people I know, and I think you’re being kind of ridiculous.”

“It’s because I’m ugly.”

Exasperated, Seline sat erect and, briefly shaking her hair out of her face,
took the other girl in a stern gaze.

“Rowen, you are beautiful. Why…if I was as pretty as you, I…I don’t know. I don’t
ever want to hear you say you’re unattractive, though. I’m serious.”

Rowen pulled her eyes away from the ceiling, and looked at
her friend doubtfully. Her eyes were particularly shiny now, and Seline
suspected she was on the verge of crying.

“You are as pretty as me, Seline.” Her voice was shaky. It was as if she had
tried to construct a dam to withhold all of her emotions, and now it was
beginning to crumble. Seline rolled her eyes.

“Hardly. Just look at me, I’m fat and I get acne in weird places and-“

She was cut off suddenly when Rowen threw herself into an upright position, and
looked at the other youth with such startling intensity that Seline fearfully fell
silent, flinching away.

“Never ever say that about yourself,
Seline. That makes me angry.”

She believed it. Rowen’s body was thrust towards her aggressively, eyes ablaze,
and Seline swallowed self-consciously. She could see the numerous dark freckle
spots on her friend’s cheeks.

“Okay…I won’t say that again…”

“Good.”

The flame that had erupted in Rowen’s eyes faded out, and the orbs darkened again
to coals. Her body visibly relaxed, and with a muffled grunt, she returned to
lie on her back.

“He didn’t love me anyway. I’m starting to think that no one does. Maybe I
should just…freaking kill myself. I’m so sick of people, Seline. I’m just so
done. “

Seline was horrified to hear this, and her next words were
high-pitched and frantic.

“No! God, don’t say that!”

“Why!?” Snapped Rochelle suddenly, the coals in her visage bursting into flame.
The dam had broken. “Why the freak (adjusted word for Res-appropriateness)
would you even care? Why would anyone
care? My mom’s too high and my dad would rather spend all his time
God-knows-where! They don’t give two shoots (adjusted) about me or my life, so
why should I? Huh?”

She was breathless, her chest rising and falling rapidly, sobs threatening to
burst though. Seline’s eyes were wide with shock. Her lower lip quivered.

WHY?” Demanded Rowen viciously, her
fists clenched.

“Because I love you!” The words were
torn from Seline in despair. She had no control of them, nor the tears that
swelled in her eyes and stung her cheeks. A single, broken sob followed the
cries.

“Because…I love you…” she whispered again, as if she had not known this
beforehand and was just now realizing it. Her head was lowered, looking at her
trembling hands. She didn’t want to look at Rowen.

“Do you mean that?” There was an awe in her words, and they flowed softly,
almost tenderly, from her lips. Seline could feel her gaze, but did not raise
her head.

“Yes. I do.”

She no longer felt a part of herself. She felt like some other entity,
separated from what was going on, simply watching and maintaining no control of
what was being said. Her head started to throb.

“How do you know?”

“Because…” She had to think for a moment, then decided caution and careful word
selection was no longer a concern. The words poured from her, a river of
emotion, unable to be withheld any longer. “Because when I see you…I think you
are the epitome of gracefulness and perfection, and my life is an utterly
barren put of loneliness without you. You are everything I need to survive. You
are the sustenance, the lifeblood, the very core of my soul’s happiness. I am
nothing without you and everything with you, and if anything ever happened to
you I feel like I would fall apart at the seams. I’m so blessed to have met
you. I need you in my life. You are perfect, wonderful, and by far the most
beautiful woman I have ever met, on the inside and out.”

She fell silent then. The words hung heavily in the room. Her
heart slammed beneath her breast at such a pace that she feared it would burst from
her chest.

“Seline…”

“I know you don’t…feel that way,” she continued in a quieter voice. “You
probably think I’m sick. I understand if you…don’t want to be friends after
this.”

She slowly raised her head. Rowen was staring at her with such overwhelming
affection and amazement that the youth felt as if she hadn’t been heard.

“I…” she began, but the taller girl shook her head, reaching out with tender
caresses against Seline’s cheek.

“Don’t. I’m not mad, Seline. I think…no one has ever made me feel as special
and loved as you did just now. You’re an amazing person.”

The two friends’ eyes locked, and without warning, the taller of the two seized
Seline’s face and kissed her with surprising softness. Her lips were dry, but hot,
and the shorter female gasped. She did not protest though. No, she embraced
this. Their fingers entwined, and the kiss deepened. Seline closed her eyes
slowly, and let herself fall into the kiss.

It was in that moment something clicked. There was a
sensation within her that this was right. She didn’t care about anything else,
only the spectacular creature in front of her, and wanted to submit fully to
this mad obsession. Her heart swelled and fluttered frantically, and she smiled
into the kiss.

This was where she belonged, in this dangerous, forbidden place. Here, in the arms of her best
friend.
