Phone Calls

"You know Logan, sometimes I miss your voice before you hit puberty."

"Shut up, Camryn."

"No, really. But your voice is...better this way, too. It's, well...never mind."

"Tell me!!" He instantly responded, knowing that if I said never mind, it was something he wanted to know.

"Forget about it, dude, it isn't important." I was never gonna tell him how cute his voice sounded, now that it was...deeper. It was too odd.

"All right, whatever. OH CRAP! CAMRYN! This guy's playing tetherball with a beehive!"

That's my best friend, Logan. I've known him since sixth grade, where we were in five classes together. It's been three, almost four years since then, but we're still inseperable. Yeah, he's a boy. And yeah, I'm a girl. And yes, people think we're dati-

"This movie is f-cking hilarious."

"I'll bet it is. What just happened?"

Logan was watching Jackass 3. And that's almost exactly what Logan was-A jackass. The kid's crazy. Like, really crazy.

You have to love him for that.

You see, me and Logan talked on the phone at LEAST three times a week. If not, more. And today was just another one of those times. For him, at least. For me...it was another chance to get to hear his voice. His adorable little voice.

Today, Logan wanted to ask his neighbor, Caitlin, out. I've never really liked her personally, but they were really good friends. So when he asked me if he should, I told him to go for it. Inside, I was smiling. I loved it when he came to me for girl advice, because I felt like that he relied on me. And every time I'd remind him I was always there for him, and he'd tell me "Ik" and move on. What he didn't know was that when I said that, I meant so much more than he thought.

((Just some ramblings. May add a bit more.))

Air Jordans
Logan asked me a question he most often asked me, for he could tell when I was thinking about something.
"What are you thinking 'bout, Pebbles?"
I smiled instantly at the nickname. It was something we had decided upon as middle schoolers. I would call him Flinstone and he'd call me Pebbles. Logan was singing that song...BedRock or something in Science during 6th grade and when he sang "Call me Mr. Flinstone, I can make your bed rock," I said "Okay!" And since then, we've always been using that.
"Oh, it's nothing, Flinstone," I said, grinning when I used his own nickname. The two of us were sitting on the curb of his sidewalk, in front of his big white house. His little sister and my little sister were laughing and squirting water guns at each other. This is what we usually did when we both got stuck babysitting.
"I don't believe you," Logan responded, looking right at me. Ugh, I loved when he looked right into my eyes like that. Not many boys I've met ever did. "What's your problem?"
"I was just thinking..." I hesitated. What should I tell him? I couldn't tell him I was thinking about how easy the two of us together was... "I was just thinking about...how you and Caitlin would look as a couple."
I hated his neighbor. I was never jealous of her or anything, but she was just...well, do you have those kind of girls in your school who are pretty, but think they're all that and a bag of chips? Yeah, well, that's what Caitlin is. She's stuck-up, snobby, and a total jerk. But Logan says she's funny, and of course, hot. Gross.
Logan blushed. A deep red color arose on his cheeks. "D-do you think we'd be cute together?" He stuttered out, nervous talking about girls.
No, you guys are two totally different people and she's disgusting, don't do it. "Uh...sure you would be," I lied.

Amazing, as always. I really identify with this character. I shall be watching this thread, even while it sleeps.

Logan flashed his perfect, whole-hearted smile at me. It was a smile that not many people saw. Logan...he was very enclosed about showing feelings, talking about feelings...basically anything to do with emotions always frightened him. But around me, he could be himself. We both knew this, though it was never spoken about aloud to each other.

"Thanks, Cam," He said after looking at me for a moment, ruffling my hair, something he knew aggrovated the hell out of me. I growled, making the lowest sound I could possibly manage. "Oh, now you're gonna get it, kid." I laughed evily.

To that he flung up off the ground and raced off down the street. I could hear the sound of his new Air Jordans, the black and red ones that he was so proud of, hit and crush the gravel on the road. I chased after him, kicking off my black flip-flops while doing so, knowing my little sister would get them for me. I laughed as I ran, the force of it pulling my hair behind me. I was nowhere near him, but it didn't stop me. The two of us knew our way around our entire neighborhood; our entire town, even. I'm pretty sure we would've gone far chasing after one-another if we didn't have to watch the kiddies.

"Logan, it's not fair! You have stylish sneakers and I'm going barefoot!" I yelled after him, still unable to contain my giggles.

"Your fault for being a wimpy girl!" He called back, smirking.

I loved chasing him. Or maybe I hated it. Because I was always chasing him...metaphorically, that was. I was always chasing Logan, and I was just a few inches away from touching him...but never close enough. Never close enough to grab him; to have him.

((Thanks, guys. c: This is totally, 100% based off of real stuff. So yeah, I can see why it would be relatable xD))
