If you have nothing intellectual to say about one's art, then don't post at all.

Okay, so a critique.

They're fairly good... but for the first one you need more depth.  The picture is rather shallow.

The second one is good as well, but the cheeks on the girl seem a little fat considering she's skinny.

The eye is very nice, but it lacks the striations a normal eye does, and its extremely shiney.

The next one... well I think the nose and mouth should be better defined.  Not sure if its a girl or a cat, or a mix the way its drawn.  And the eyes are enormous.

The next one... those eyes frankly scare me.  They're far too large for one, and all I can see is an iris with hardly any pupil.  The positioning of the body is good though.

The sports girl is good, except again, the eyes are large and remind me of the term "blonde bimbo."  Empty looking, in other words.  And they don't match... the left eye is shorter than the right eye by a good amount.

The girl on the graph paper is nice, but the eyes are too large, even for anime style, which I think is the effect you're going for.  Its also off because the positioning of the eyes for the cheekbones, which are rather sharp.  Arms are far to straight for being behind her back, they should be bent at least slightly, and the nose and mouth need repositioning and better definition.

Okay, you asked for a critique... here's a small one for each picture.  Overall, they're good.  Keep practicing tho!

Those are nice yume! :D

The first one does need a bit more depth. Perhaps some shading/more color in the face?

The second just needs a few finishing touches. The cheeks could be a bit skinnier, and the white around the neck and hair should be colored in. Perhaps it's because it's unfinished, but the face is lighter around the nose, and the shading near the crease of the arm make me question the light source. If the only light is coming from the center due to the magical aura produced by the girl then, it should be concentrated there. The hand needs a bit more detail as well.

I love the eye. It could be dulled slightly though, and perhaps you can add more depth towards the center?

The next two are also very nice! ^^ That's all I can say about those. The only detail that you may want to change is the circle around the jigglypuffs right eye, just to make the outside it a bit more circular. Personally, I love the jigglypuff one the best.

The other two are also very good. I'd focus on the left eye though, as geo said. The eyes could be defined just a tad on the last drawing, and the mouth and nose moved over a bit. The elbows can be bent as well.

They're really good though Yume, and there's definitely potential here =3

Thanks for sharing! ^^ ♥

I'll probably just be a broken record to everyone else with this.

First Picture

It's pretty good. I won't say much since it's incomplete, but I will say that her nose is a bit too large for the face, up near the eyes. Try to slim that out a bit.

Second Picture

The shadings on the arm could use a little work. Maybe add some darkness to the farthest part, and work on the shading between her fore arm and her bicept. The lighting on her lower torso should reach down just a bit more, since usually it's flat from there on down on any woman, unless you're looking at her behind. lolz.

Third Picture

Perfect. Although it does bother me a smidgen that there are no other lines aside from her eyelid. Everyone has at least one bag under their eye. lol. Maybe draw just a small one?

Fourth Picture

Looks good. Although usually, the right eye (her right... our left) would be a little more wider than the left eye. Though that's just a minor detail.

Fifth Picture

 Perfect.

Sixth Picture

The hat is disporportioned with the head. Hats are a difficult thing to draw, even I refuse to draw hats for people. LOL. Other than that, it looks good.

Seventh Picture

The nose and mouth aren't set correctly on her face. Move it closer to the right eye (our left). And this bothers me, but the knees should be right level with the  hem of the dress. It just looks a bit disproportioned from my view.

ANYWHO.

That's my critique. From an ameture artist. (:

Good job Yume ^^

Ok here's the basic problem with most of your pictures:

  • Your noses need work
  • Shading and highlights don't look right
  • The hair don't exactly follow laws of gravity
  • Your faces are not properly aligned with the angle of the head
  • Certain parts of the body don't look right.

Things that will help:

  • Use guide lines
  • Study anatomy
  • Think more carefully about shading
  • For the fust one, I suggest you use paint too sai. It's ideal for digital painting (but it costs a pretty penny).
  • Pay attention on how other artists do their rendering (colouring and final presentation).
  • Make an initial sketch before beginning to render your picture. Block it every thing before shading and keep colour references at hand.

these are nice, just remember to keep practising, draw from life. Even anime/manga artists use real life references to make their works look better! Pay attention to lighting-- if the light comes from the top right, the shadows should be toward the bottom left! Another trick is to use a mirror-- it will help you see what might be wrong, even though you thought it was right.

Draw what you see, not what you think you see. Winktle="Wink" />

Actually I don't believe the draw what you see, not what you think you see rule. Since I am a cartoonist, I don't sketch out real life things. The draw what you see, not what you think you see rule spoils people and makes them see lines instead of shapes. Theory is one of the most important things you need to create good art.
