Flakes of rust and red paint scattered onto the asphalt of the school parking lot as Rowen opened up the passenger side door to Noahs truck. It didnt have one of the step things on the side so she had to bounce on her heel and haul herself up to get in. The car had an old smell, validating Noahs information that it was a hand me down. Still, she envied his truck. It seemed to have so much character to it, so many memories all chalked up in it, almost bursting at the seams of the cloth seats. Greasy fast food stains on the console, some balled up McDonalds bags at her feet, and a few CDs thrown haphazardly and unfittingly in the cup holders. She found these imperfections not gross, but enlightening. They told more about his life than he could ever say.
