The mountains bulk, tall and solid in the distance, shrouded by a haze born of distance and weather both. They paint a more solid darkness against the star strewn sky above. Every breath you take is cold, as though taking a gulp of snow melt spring water straight from the source. Your lungs feel frozen, your throat burns… and yet, you’ve never felt so alive.

A liyure greets you with a huff. You blink, look again… but no, your eyes are not deceiving you. Somehow, this creature looks as though they have managed to pull the light of the stars above into their very self. As though a single being could contain the entire universe within their core. For all they look peaceful. Serene, you fear that they must be burning from the inside out. Surely nothing mortal was built to contain the stars themselves?

You cock your head, and the creatu looks almost normal, their light dimmed, yet still present. You’ve seen this morphing, flowing light before. As though the sky had become a livid, living river of flowing, molten brilliance. Again you ask, how can one creature contain so much? This cannot truly be a mortal creature, can it?

Or can it… is this a dream? The air feels too crisp, the mountains look too perfect, the stars too bright and regular in the sky. You don’t recognize any of the patterns you know in the sky above, they almost seem to shift the longer you look at them.

No, there is no room for mortals, here. Wherever this is, whatever is happening, whatever the being that both is and is not a Liyure? You shouldn’t be here. A feeling of wrongness, nothing mortal was truly meant to trespass in this place. You pinch yourself, close your eyes.

Maybe you’ll wake up if you pinch hard enough?
