I haven't. I've read I think all the Gospels and Epistles but I'm OT illiterate for the most part. I'm so glad Rescreatu allows us to discuss religion. :)

BTW Hojak runs the fund. We have 4m out of the 25m necessary to open a party. As he said earlier donations are appreciated, so if you have something donate to him! Just RMail him about what (or Who) it's for. God bless!

BTW Nice sig Hojak.

Read some of the OT they are completely different deities if you ask me, it is absolutely brutal what he does.

I've never actually read the whole Bible myself, but my mom read it to me and my sisters at bed time when we were younger. We went through it five times before life started getting rough. One of my favorite stories is Acts 3:1-10. For some reason, that story stuck with me since I was 6-7 :3 I also love hearing, reading, and saying the Our Father.

@Garr I struggled with the same question, but keep in mind that God is a God of Justice and had not sacrificed His Son on the cross, so since the wages of sin is death, physical (and brutal) death HAD to come. But it's still the same God though, just revealing Himself differently at different periods of time as necessary? God bless!

Is your God a just God? Does anyone deserve infinite torture for a finite crime? A person who has commited only a single sin but cannot bring himself to believe the unbelievable without any evidence will be tortured forever. However a mass murderer who slaughtered thousands of people merely has to accept the unbelievable and be given eternal bliss. Tell me in what world is that just?

All sins lead to death. When we commit even those little sims we deserve to die. It is out of God's sheer grace, not anything we cam do that saves us. The difference is that one accepted Christ our only way to salvation and one didn't. However, this situation can sometimes be somewhat averted by us as Christians preaching the Gospel so all have a chance to accept it and if they reject Jesus that's worse than murder because they are rejecting God, since Jesus is the Son of God.

All sins lead to death? Who made that rule? I don't know about you but I don't feel it is right to tell a little child they deserve to die and be tortured for enternity for disobeying their parent once. This is biblical law not something that I'm making up and it is clear the punishment does not fit the crime.

Why does your God make man fallible and then hold them to impossible standards of perfection? He gives us a test knowing full well everyone is going to fail it to me that is a sign of malevolence. Why is the only prerequisite to entering the kingdom of heaven to abandon your reasoning faculties and believe in supernatural claims without evidence?

As for rejecting the claim of a deity being worse than murder that is self-evidently absurd. Murder has real tangible consequences to not just the victim of the act but everyone who knew the victim. The rejection of a supernatural claim harms absolutely no one.

I'm joining.
*EDIT
I'm longer a christian, I've found I'm not in any particular religion. I'll probably figure out some day, but christianity is not for me.

You're going to have to quit posting that kind of thing here, Garr. This is a fanclub and if you do not sympathise you should not be posting at all - let alone trying to disprove their belief.

Thanks!

I don't want to open a debate here, but I do want to post a response to something said earlier because I feel like it might help make things a bit more clear...a lot of people have misconceptions surrounding the Bible and God and Jesus, and I believe its important to try and clear up those misconceptions when possible.

"All sins lead to death? Who made that rule? I don't know about you but I don't feel it is right to tell a little child they deserve to die and be tortured for enternity for disobeying their parent once. This is biblical law not something that I'm making up and it is clear the punishment does not fit the crime."

It is not right to tell a little child they deserve to die and be tortured for eternity, you are correct. You are incorrect in believing that Biblical law dictates this will happen as a result of disobeying your parent(s). As a Christian mother, I have never once told my children that. Instead I have explained the importance of not sinning, given them examples of real-life consequences that could happen as a result, and explained the reasoning behind each of the 10 Commandments so they could better understand why God says we shouldn't do something.

Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us to raise kids in fear. Children did not fear Jesus in the Bible - He made sure of that. Some humans have gotten it into their heads that children and adults alike should be fear-mongered into being believers, but that is wrong, and is a human fallacy. Same goes for being held to an impossible standard of perfection - that's all man, not God. A lot of organized religions take this approach, and it can be scarring and it can give the wrong impression.

I grew up in a church in which the preacher was all about the yelling; fire and brimstone and all that. My dad was a new Christian at the time, and there was a lot of fear used at home to "teach" me the right way. So I understand when someone has a negative view of the Bible and Christianity in general - I've been there too. I was blessed enough to finally be shown the difference between what man does and what God says though, and I got through my own fear and reluctance to believe.

One more point to mention on this note: When considering what the Bible tells us, its important to remember that this is a Book that holds a record of history. The Old Testament contains different ways to atone for sins, and forbids certain things such as eating shellfish and certain animals. Those don't apply any longer! The New Testament comes after the birth of Jesus, and because He died for our sins, we are not held to those old conditions any longer.

Great fan club. =)

Amen, 14brokenmirrors. You just rescued me from trying to come up with a logical argument. ^w^ Anyway, our next debate topic. Sabbaths. My belief:

Sabbaths are a part of the Law. According to Galatians 2:19, we are DEAD to the Law. Otherwise we would have to abstain from pork and wear tassels on the four corners on our clothing. As for Sabbaths, I believe in the Law of Romans 14, specifically for this situation verses 5 and 6. Let each one of you be convinced in his/her own mind. (By the way Romans 14 also frees us from dietary regulations and used to be my law for entertainment as well. :D)

My practice: I used to be a Sabbath keeper as best as I could to the extreme. Then, I had quit legalism because I was too much on the studying (forced) and I was rude when interuppted, that I may focus on Biblical love. I'm much happier now, though I may need to get back since my self-control is weakening, but that's likely due to a lack of fasting, as I haven't fasted much in a while. My belief is that since the priests defiled the Sabbath in the OT according to Jesus and got away with it (the Lord's Work), and since Jesus said He was the Lord of the Sabbath (Matthew 12:8, for my argument look up Matthew 12:1-13), that the Sabbath is a day to back away from ourselves nad our day-to-day lives and drama; to focus on the Lord. Doing the Lord's Work is not the problem---it's doing OUR PERSONAL work and selfish pleasure that's the problem. However, now that we are dead to the Law we are no longer under this requirement, unless not observing the Sabbath violates our conscience, and causes others around us to stumble (1 Corinthians 8.) God bless you Garr!
