Styxe turned the bill over in his freezing hands and nodded when Tes informed him that the fifty bill was a lot to them. "Figu'ed," he said. The bill was then folded back up and placed safely back under the waistband of his boxers. His frozen fingers went back to his hoodie pocket. He had his three hundred bucks which was apparently quite a bit when it came to a kid out on the streets. It would keep him away from the clutches of starvation at least, and maybe he could find some damn gloves. A few more pairs of clothes and maybe a backpack wouldn't be too bad either...

"Alright, that's fine, but we're getting separate rooms. I don't really know you like that." He was brought back out of his thoughts first by Tes's words, then by her giggle. Styxe glanced sideways at her and winked.

"Oh, but 'ow can you resist this?" he said and waggled his brows. "You' loss anyway," he said right after and shook out his hair. With the dastardly mess being soaking wet from the snow, his too-long hair plastered onto his forehead and tickled his eyes. He slid his hand through his hair and ended up making his hair stick up from his forehead. At least it got it off of his face.

"I dun't plan on losing the money. If anything, I'll double it," he said.

The smell of food assailed Styxe's nose right then. Truth be told, the boy felt a bit faint when smelling it. His mouth watered at the smell. Droolin' like a dog, eh Styxe? he thought, swallowing the collected saliva. The man behind the hot dog stand could have been Santa Clause with those frostbitten red cheeks and the way he oozed out jolliness. For a fella with a hell of a bad job, standing our here in the cold and dealing with street scum like Styxe, the dude seemed pretty happy.

When Styxe ordered two dogs and presented him with a fifty, the man gave him the right amount of change--Styxe hoped, at least--and left him on his way. The hot dogs lasted no more than a minute before they were being digested in Styxe's belly. Color was breathed onto his gaunt face and even though he was still starving, it would at least clear his head up a bit so he could find them a place to stay.

After giving Tes time to get some food if she wanted, Styxe navigated them around the city until he found a rundown Econolodge wedged in between two shabby-looking buildings. The air was warm upon entering. Styxe took a look around the lobby and knew what to expect from the rooms. They'd be dirty, probably a bit dangerous. Styxe made sure to get two rooms and paid for them both out of sheer impatience; he also made sure to get them right next to each other with a door connecting the two. In case of emergency.

"Le's wa'm up," he said as he held out Tes's card key.

Ooc; Was so scared I'd do something and accidentally lose the post again. Sorry for the wait. xD

Ooc: I hope my writing skills didn't drop. :P And next time I procrastinate + forget like this, please let me know. Like, after three days, send me a message or corner me in the shoutbox. Oh, and I have some ideas for the future about our RP. =D

The gush of warm air was like heaven.

Tes had gotten so accustomed to the cold so cold-it-burns weather that she'd starkly lost the memory of warmth. She was almost in shock when her breath didn't show in the air, the little wisp that would usually dissipate outside as quickly as it left her lips. She didn't want anymore cold wind to get in, so she quickly shut the doors of the Econolodge after the heat won its battle and sent the chilly breeze fleeing.

The hotel didn't look that great in no way, even when compared to an average, everyday hotel in a town or city. The paint on the walls was faded, and the walls themselves were peeling open, ripped, and decaying. The linoleum floor was a disgusting mural of dirt and other unrecognizable things brought in by peoples' feet. Even the man at the desk looked like he'd just crawled out of bed, thrown on his suit and came to work.

Tes smiled. It was better than the Hole, though, and she was thankful for that.

She took the room key that Styxe held out to her and said, "I'm going ahead to my room to take a shower and change, then I'll head to your room for a few before I get some sleep. Alright?"

She let out a relieved sigh.

"And thanks for sticking by me all this time. It's great to finally, you know, talk to another human being and have someone to be with."

Tes pulled her sweater sleeves over her pale hands and dug them into her armpits, the light shining dimly over her delicate features.

Ooc; I'm so bad at being pushy with people though. I had a few partners that nagged me to no end about replies and roleplaying with them was just insanely unpleasant. I don't want to do that to you. lol <3
And your writing is as good as always. c:

Bic;

"A'right," Styxe said when Tes told him she'd head over to his room after she showered. If he wasn't so damn tired, Styxe might have come back with some snarky comment, something to get her riled up and maybe irritated with him. She kept on trucking on though and he stood out by his door, surprise trickling through him. He'd never really had anyone thank him before, not back in London where it was only natural that you had someone else's back out on the streets. A thank-you was there just as long as you were a-okay for the most part and alive. Also, a lot of things came out of Styxe's mouth but heartfelt ninny stuff wasn't one of them.

"Uh, you too." He hesitated. "I's hawd, bein' from London. Wifou' you, I can't get very fa'. Mm, see ya in a few, love," he said and glanced down the hall. After sliding his card key in his door and popping it open, he wedged his foot in the frame and tossed the key to Tes. "Come in when you' done," he said. Shrugging, he said, "O' come in through the doo' 'at connects us. I'll unlock my side." With that, he shouldered the door open, nodded to her, and let it close in front of him.

Styxe slapped a hand against the wall until he found the light switch. Upon flicking it up, the lights flashed, going dark once or twice before humming and illuminating the room. The walls were as grimy as the floors and even the ceiling looked a little scummy. A crack ran from the corner of one wall to the light in the center of the ceiling right where the light and a fan whirled. Paying it no mind, Styxe opened one of the doors, found it was the closet, and went to open one other. It was locked and was the room that connected their rooms. He unlocked it, then moved on to the last door.

Styxe found it better to not focus on any stains on the walls or look to closely at whatever was on the floor. He wore his dirty socks as he showered and it took him a good twenty minutes for him to feel less-than-dirty. The grease in his hair washed away with the rest of the grime and gunk that had been a few layers thick on his skin. Once he emerged, he stood in front of the sink and scratched disapprovingly at the stubble on his chin. He'd need to pick up a razor once they found a nicer place to stay. After he shot up a few of the pool bars.

Styxe shimmied his jeans back on and sniffed his shirt. His nose crinkled and he filled up the sink with water, lathered the shirt with hand soap and then washed it out with the shower head. Letting the wet shirt hang up on the shower curtain rod, he dried his hair and with extremely wet socks (he wasn't about to walk around barefoot and pick up some weird disease from the hotel room) he opened up the door and poked his head out.

"Tes, ya he'e yet?"

Ooc;
<3 This feels so . . . choppy. Couldn't make it flow like I wanted,
but it's really just a transition scene. My apologies still. :P

Tes frowned when she entered her hotel room.

She knew that hotels sometimes gave not-up-to standard service. And sometimes
they also missed a few spots when cleaning up a room. She'd experienced that
before when she and her mom discovered a pair of Hanes boxers under their bed
while occupying a Hampton Inn room. Tessa also knew that the hotels in this
part of town were nowhere near average. The receptionists were savage, the food
was bland, and the beds would either keep a person awake all night or cause
them to wake up with a sore back.

But when she scanned her room, she decided to assume that the cleaning ladies
hadn't even been to her room. She was exhausted, and she didn't feel like
arguing with anyone. She was sure that if she argued with someone in the dazed
state she was in now she would probably end up fighting, and then wake up in
jail with no memory of the previous night. So she pulled off her sweater and
got to work.

There were mostly dirty clothes strewn everywhere from whoever had stayed
previously. Shirts, pants, and socks glazed the carpet. A thin, see-through
curtain lay coiled in the far corner of the room. Rips and claw marks
debilitated its appearance, and it looked as if it had been used as a dog's
chew toy. Tes reached down, gathering all the horrid, smelly clothes that she
saw and piling them in a corner as far away from her bed as possible. She
straightened the bed sheets and comforter a little, surprised to find no dirty
clothes in them, and flipped over the pillow. Previous occupants could have had
lice, so she decided she'd get a towel later and cover up her pillow, just in
case.

After placing all the clothes away from her, she examined the rest of the room
as a whole. There were a few unsettling spots on the carpet and a large, black
stain reaching outwards from the ceiling fan, but she didn't feel like trying
to clean that now. Tes knew she couldn't patch up the few cracks along the wall,
either.

She was a tomboy, but ironically she hated feeling dirty or being around anything unclean. She'd knew she'd been leaving outside in filthy conditions, enduring rain and snow, but it was her hunger and homesickness that made her forget everything else.

I'd better shower. Tessa could imagine the water flowing down her back, a sensation she hadn't experienced in days. She stepped into the bathroom, surprised to see it relatively clean. It almost looked as if it hadn't been used.

The people who stayed here probably didn't even shower, she thought in disgust.

Shaking those thoughts away, she turned the shower on and waited for it to warm up. She quickly undressed and stepped inside, making sure to wash off all the gunk and grime. Once she was satisfied, Tes stepped out and began scrubbing at her clothes with a rag and soap. She doubted there was a washer and dryer at this place, so she did the best she could.

As she was slipping her clothes back on, she heard Styxe's voice.

"Tes, ya he'e yet?"

Tes groaned. She half put on her shoes and dashed to his room.

"Yeah, I'm here now. Next time don't rush me."

She took a hesitant seat at the foot of his bed and waited for Styxe to come out.

The shirt would take a while to dry, but at least it'd be somewhat clean by tomorrow morning. His mind was already whirring, plans of survival springing up now that his head was a bit clearer and he had something to go off of. Tes certainly didn't seem to like the idea of going to a pool bar so he figured he'd probably have to skulk around the streets and find one himself. He was good at finding things, though, so he wasn't too worried about that. Standing in front of the cracked bathroom mirror now though, he ran his fingertips over his stomach. Ribs were small hills that his hands glided over, skin a pasty, malnourished white.

He swiped a hand through his hair to get it out of his eyes again. Man, he looked really grubby. Gi'ls'd run at the sigh' o' ya, he thought and chuckled. Tes's voice came through the door just then and his eyebrows dipped. Rush her? All he'd wanted to know is if she was there. It was amusing sort of, and a bit sad all the same. A different reply would have came through the door from Rhodes or Meg, something that didn't leave him feeling so hollow. He grimaced at himself in the mirror and pushed the door open.

Half-naked with just his pants on, Styxe walked across the room, took his socks off and slid his feet into his shoes, and then collapsed on top of his given bed. He tossed his pillow onto the ground, as was custom with a hotel room unless it cost at least twenty-four pounds to stay. That was another thing he had to learn, the money conversion. He laced his fingers together and propped his head against his hands; his elbows stuck out at either side and he stared up at the ceiling.

"I wun't rushin' ya. So I'm finkin' we'll get some food 'n clothes fi'st, I'll get us s'more money 'an we'll find a bet'er place a stay." He absentmindedly stroked the black ink tattooed on his right hip.

Ooc; Pfft, it's fine. ;c
