I agree with Wolfspirit, Kinera, and Catz911. The blue is easy to look at. Brighter colors can be really hard on the eyes, especially for people who have bigger or brighter monitors. I wouldn't spend much time on a site that hurts my eyes. 

If there were a couple choices, like maybe a red/orange and one, and a yellow/green one, and a blue/purple one, I think it would be a better option. You could even have unlockable icons for different color settings if you wanted to.

I like the idea of having Alerts and New Updates showing up in the forums so you don't have to have another tab open to refresh.

I also like the idea of changing the background since blue and white can get rather boring to look at. :/
