enchanted springs
Thank Lutinofeather for being my wonderful editor and co-writer.

The ivory-skinned man cracked a sly grin as he accepted the twenty shining barter tokens from his slightly tanned customer. In turn he passed over the two intertwined flowers as he watched his customer flinch ever so slightly before forcing out a smile. “Thank you.” He croaked, voice cracked with slight grief. “It save pet?” He gestured to his Zenirix, sitting by his owner’s feet, as it eyed the shopkeeper suspiciously with two cloudy eyes and a broken paw. “It grants access to Springs, no...? And heals my... pet?” He added the last word hesitantly, shooting a furious glance at the Zenirix.
“Of course. This thing works wonders. Thank you for your purchase.”

“Let’s get going, Cantelope. To the springs.”
Lucas hesitantly held out his palm, the two intertwined flowers resting peacefully on it, as the silver Draqua raised it’s head from the springs to collect the toll. It swept a lily off it’s face, annoyed, as it submerged back into the water. It only said two words to the travelers as it vanished underwater, “Be safe.”
The canine rested it’s brown, furry muzzle on his master’s foot, encouraging him to continue.
Lucas twined a begraddled length of rope around his Zenirix’s neck - a slip knot - a makeshift collar and leash. Leading his pet down to the shallow waters, the canine cautiously put a paw into the water. The parched Creatu dipped it’s head to drink the water rippling around it’s paws and threw back it’s square head in surprise. It’s eyes were full of disgust, distaste - how could anyone desire to wade in this strange-tasting water? Just for some miracle to happen?
His owner, however, seemed not to be bothered by the strange, metallic-yet-natural taste the water held. Even the air circling the area seemed to fascinate his owner - or at least, his owner was forcing a smile as he said, “Look, Cantelope - doesn’t the air taste wonderful?”
He felt a tug on his collar as his owner encouraged him to move further into the deepening water, before being blinded by a bright, sudden flash of light.
