Starship Engineer

The ship keeps sailing only because I am here
The thrumming engines deep beneath your feet?
That’s me. The maintenance on this thing is immense
And yet I love it, each and every bolt
And screw is part of me, something I’ve made
Or at least made better. We are faster now
And stronger than we were built to be
Nothing can stop us bar what we ourselves
Allow, and we will never let them win
The cost has always been too high
And so I’ll fix the people as I fix the ship
And maybe then we’ll hold together
Through this storm
